  1. Looks so yummy! Going to try this recipe this week.

    Whats for dinner?

Tonight it's mock shepherd's/pot pie! I use chicken strips from costco, Heinz chicken gravy (low cal), a tad of cornstarch, chicken stock, 3 cups of mixed vegetables and topped with mashed cauliflower, bake at 375 degrees F for 45 min or until gravy is bubbly. Tastes just like mashed potatoes and the dish is so yummy!

    Spiral slicer

I use one! Here's what I put on a food thread I started. Spaghetti squash is great and all' date=' but still nothing you can twirl a fork around, around, and around. I found a tool on Pintrest that I can make a long noodle out of- using zucchini, carrots, or whatever else you want! They really do make long noodles and I sautéed them with a little bit of olive oil and some garlic powder. Added one box of "just sauce" turkey bolognese from Trader Joe's and dinner is done!

    Anyone Here In Washington?

I'm going to cancel our get together since I only heard one person could come. . Maybe we'll try again later!

    Indian tonight!

If you're in the Seattle area, come on over! I made all of it except the tandoori chicken- that I bought from costco all prepared, boneless chicken breasts, very moist and so delish! It only takes 3 1/2 min in the microwave for the whole thing and 2 oz gives you 11g Protein. It's Sukhi's authentic Indian cuisine if anyone is looking for it. I love chicken biryani as well- Indian food is one of my comfort foods. Strange since I didn't really have it until college- but a good chicken tikka masala makes my toes curl with pleasure! Cooking Biryani for your dad...are you of Indian descent or just love the food like me?
  6. In my experience, anything new they find in the bloodwork or other work ups will just be additional evidence of why your insurance should pay for the surgery- additional "co-morbidities". Unless God forbid you have cancer or a serious heart problem found on the EKG, the surgery should be able to go full steam ahead. They'd treat you for high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea etc, with the expectation that your problem will improve or disappear after surgery. I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and sleep apnea before surgery- during the bloodwork and testing. Eight weeks post surgery and I'm no longer on my Cpap and working on getting off the BP meds. Good luck!

    Non Scale Victory

At my doctor's appointment this morning, a normal size blood pressure cuff fit around my upper arm! Yippee!

    Cauliflower pizza dough?

Yes, the recipe would be great!
  9. Nope' date=' it still has to be under boiling...I stick my cup of milk in the microwave for 1 min 10 seconds and it gets it warm but not hot- but warm enough to definitely count as hot chocolate. I get mine from my surgeon's office usually, but amazon has it- strange thing is it's made by Health Wise, but they let companies rename it when they sell it, so it's incredibly hard to know if you're getting the right product or not. I ordered this from Amazon hoping it would be the right thing, and whew, it was! [url']http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BJOYTAS?ie=UTF8&force-full-site=1&ref_=aw_bottom_links[/url]
  10. Another alternative to shakes if you are borderline is the protein hot chocolate from Healthwise or their cappuccino protein drink. I have it every night as a kind of "dessert" with a few pumps of sugar free creme de menthe syrup. 15g protein for the hot chocolate and if you make it with a cup of milk, that's even more! This tastes like normal hot chocolate to me- can't taste the protein at all. It's a really nice nightcap before bed. I'm 8 weeks out from surgery and get between 60-80g per day. My average is 70g- all from food and my hot chocolate.

    Long "Spaghetti noodles"!

http://www.amazon.com/GEFU-13460-Spirelli-Spiral-Cutter/dp/B0026RMEK4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1378102211&sr=8-1&keywords=gefu+spirelli+spiral+cutter I hope this works- never posted a link before!

    Long "Spaghetti noodles"!

Yeah, mine does a similar thing, but mine does look easier! It works just like a pencil sharpener, the only thing is the zucchini or whatever you use has to be small enough to fit inside. Seriously long noodles though- 1 1/2 feet! I could slurp my noodles again- a few hit me on the nose as I was eating dinner. It WAS yummy!
  13. I usually get one migraine a year if that, pretty mild, but today I had a doozy. My vision started going on the sides and spots and flashes, then a pounding headache on the right temple with major sensitivity to light and sound. I was out for 3 hours- no lunch- after taking tylenol and woke up dehydrated, weak and still with a major headache. My husband was an angel and brought me G2 and takeout teriyaki dinner for the family so I wouldn't have to worry. I'm wondering if I could be getting migraines because of the extra hormones in my body as I'm losing weight? Has anyone else experienced migraines when they didn't before or increased migraines after sleeve? Sleeved July 2nd.
  14. Congrats to all you new moms! I'm not pregnant, but wanting to be after I reach goal weight, but I'm only 9 weeks out from surgery now. I just wanted to let those of you who are worried about fitting in exercise with your new babies know that there are some great options out there. There are two workouts specifically geared to you bringing your children with you, and you get a great workout! They are called Stroller Strides and Body Back and you can probably find them in your area- just google it! There is also a workout for you moms to be called fit4baby. Check it out! When the weather is good, you work out outdoors and in shelter when it's not. A lot of members of these classes turn into a extended family and really support each other!

    protein and carbs after sleeve

thanks! I have a good model- my husband had VST Exactly 1 year before me, so he did all the "bushwacking" for me..he's on here too- fiddleman is his user name. Today was a good day- a lot of days are not this perfect...always a learning process!

    protein and carbs after sleeve

Hi! I had my surgery July 2nd 2013 and average about 600-700 calories, 50 carbs, and between 65-75 grams of protein per day. Highest pre-SW 330, SW 289, CW 262 at 5'5 1/2 age 34. For breakfast I usually have 1/3 cup 2% cottage cheese (10g protein) with 1 tsp jam or Fage 2% plain yogurt with stevia, vanilla extract and berries. I can also add a slice of nitrate free Jennie O brand turkey bacon if I feel like it- a real protein gem at 6g per slice (much better than the Oscar Meyer brand at 2 g per slice). For lunch I had Ruben sandwich innards- 2oz corned beef thin sliced, 1 slice alpine lace reduced fat Swiss cheese, 1 Tbsp light thousand island dressing and 1 1/2 Tbsp sauerkraut- heat in microwave for a minute, yummy! Snack was 2 light mini baby bell cheeses (also a real protein gem at 6g per piece) and 1/4 cup red grapes. Dinner will be chicken broccoli curry casserole and dessert is an Outshine sugar free frozen fruit bar (10 cal and 2 carbs more than Popsicle variety sugar free but soooo much better taste wise). Nightcap is a mug of Healthwise protein hot chocolate with Davinci's sugar free creme de menthe. I love love love that hot chocolate and to get a better protein kick and make it creamier, I make it with nonfat milk instead of water. I work out 4-5 per week to the Biggest Loser original DVD and alternate days of cardio and strength training- I'm also starting Zumba. Just try to get in as much protein as you can, read food labels, shoot for 60-80 per day (80 is best) and you may need to add some protein shakes in there at first to get to that goal, but I think you can get there on your own after a while. Look for lean protein, fat is ok- especially the good stuff in moderation, and low carb. If you have to choose between higher carbs and higher fat, go with the higher fat option (Atkins type diet). A lot of folks I've seen here stick to 50 carbs or less per day, especially in the first 6 months, so that's what I shoot for. If I eat lean proteins, the fat sort of takes care if itself- I don't really worry about it. Work out when allowed- especially weight training...so your body burns your fat as you are losing and not your muscle! Keep as much of your muscle as you can. My fitness pal is an extremely helpful tool for me- if you don't already use it, give it a try!

    Sex after surgery

My surgeon ...actually, my male PA told me 4 weeks! I asked him if he was kidding and he said "nope, don't worry, your husband can handle it". I should have replied...."well, maybe you think he could, but I can't!" I guess he's not used to a woman with a high sex drive. LOL...genetics- Mom and sisters are like that too. I made it 1 1/2 weeks.

    Jucing after sleeve

We have a juicer at home and I decided today to make a drink for my husband using 3 large kale leaves, 1/2 a cucumber and 1/4 of a small pineapple. Very refreshing and we can get veggies in too! My husband loved it (over a year out & works out like a beast) and we will make it again occasionally- because we all know you're not supposed to drink your calories! I had 3 oz to try it- being six weeks out it's not something to have very frequently. I'd like to try a drink with all veggies sometime- any good recipes out there?

    Vitamins

When you are further out -7 months or so, you can swallow whole tablets. I don't know where you are, but I'm six weeks so I still stuck on chewables. TJ's actually makes a berry flavored chewable multi Vitamin that isn't bad.

    Yay! I can workout now!

It's my six week post op today and that means...I'm off my 15 lbs lifting weight restriction and can do other forms of workouts other than walking (boring boring boring!!). Yahoo! I celebrated today by doing a belly dancing workout video and I even wore a hip scarf with jangly coins. I probably looked like a complete idiot but it was fun and I'll get better. My husband watched me for a bit with a smile on his face and said "cool" a couple of times. Maybe I'll keep this up! . Zumba, salsa and ballroom dancing are next...once I get a bit lighter, it's back to tap dancing!

    No more sleep apnea

It's staying in the family! His brother had severe sleep apnea but had no budget or insurance to get a machine...so he's going to be able to use it.
