Hi everyone, since I've been reading everyone's posting, I have learned so much. I am being banded this coming Friday the 14th. I just have one disturbing problem. It doesn't let me sleep. I'm afraid it won't work for me. It make me cry to think about it. Can I be the only person who cannot control her eating and break these habits? I think about the possibility of being thin and all the things that can come of that and truthfully, I am scared out my mind. Not about the surgery-thanks to you guys! But of failing. I feel this is my last and only hope. My family keeps talking about it and how I will look for my next B-day (DEC) and how they can't picture it. I just smile and act excited but deep down inside I keep thinking about how they will feel if I fail. I am almost afraid to think that if I do, I will give up the battle forever. Sorry to sound so drastic, but I really do feel this way and I hope some can relate and perhaps help me through this.

hello everyone, I'm getting banded on 1/14/05 and this forum has helped me tremendously. It has comed my nerves, taught me what to expect and given me the support I never thought I would have. Thanks

Misty, I am going for surgery on the 14th and am going thru the same thoughts and fears. My doctor says 1st week is a clear liquid 2nd puree 3rd soft and mushy 4th regular soft foods 5-6 reg. food but in small quantities and very well chewed. I can't imagine myself thinner. This summer I might actually go to the beach with my kids (I have never done that and my oldest is 14yrs. old) I don't understand the why we have to wait so long and I'm afraid I'll fail myself before my first fill. Does anyone have any suggestion for misty and me?

I can't thank you all enough for responding about Dr. Javier De La Garza. I was going to get banded On January 28th with Dr. Joya (who I am told is excellent, too) but decided to have Dr. Javier De La Garza due to his credentials and when I spoke to him, he seem very kind and knowledgeable. I was also impressed that he writes articles and teaches other dr.'s (US DOCS) how to do the surgery. Needless to say, he had an earlier date too, which made it even better. -
Experience with Dr Huacuz or the Molding Clinic in Tijuana?

Hi guys, I am having surgery this month in Monterray, Mexico with Dr. De La Garza. Has anyone heard of him or his reputation? -
thank you so much, you seem to have so much knowledge. Were you banded in the U.S or internationally? I am going to Mexico. My doctor is Dr. De La Garza, I found his site on litenfree.com. I have tried to do the best research I could and he seems to be very good. I also, have not heard any negatives about him. I'm afraid of scammers.

I am getting my band shortly, how is it you lose weight the first six weeks if the band is not filled when inserted? And once it is filled, how do they know how much to fill it with. and will I be really hungry for the first 6 weeks before the fill and trying to diet/

Congrats! it great to see you're doing well. I hope it will be the same for me. I do not have any med. issues but I understand how you feel. My dad is diabetic and is considering this too.

There is no seminar, though I did speak directly with the doctor and he was very helpful. I also have been on every possible website learning more about the surgery. I realize that there will be some major changes but I am more afraid of complications

thanks for the advice. I did look at his credentials on an independant site re: obesity and he's seems to be an outstanding doctor. But credentials are one thing, how past clients view is more telling -
I am getting banded on January 27th and now I'm afraid it won't work. Can someone please explain what will happen. From what I've read, I will be able to eat like I do now? I don't understand. HELP
