August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far
hf2havefun replied to MissNilsa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Everybody! Everything is going well. My incisions are healing nicely. I just got my 1st fill today. Come to find out I have the smaller band. Who knew?! They put 2.0 cc's in the band. It pinched when the needle went in, but it didn't really hurt. Although, I could definately feel the port afterwards. Now I'm going to be on full liquids for the next two days and then two days of soft foods after that. Surprisingly, I'm still not hungry even before I got the fill today. When anyway, that's all I have for now. Have a good night everybody! -

August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far
hf2havefun replied to MissNilsa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's been almost 4 weeks since I was banded. Things are going pretty well. I've only lost 24.5 lbs so far (scale has been very slow to move), but I've lost a total of 30.5 inches and gone down 2 pants sizes (24 to a 20).:whoo: Now the 20's are even starting to get a little loose. So at least I'm losing inches, otherwise I'd be really concerned. Surprisingly, I'm still not very hungry and I don't get my 1st fill until the 9/24. The only major problem I'm having is getting all my fluids in each day. Well, that's it for now. Have a good day everyone! :biggrin1: -
Happy Bandiversary!!!!:biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1: You look great! I can't wait until I see more results on myself.

Where Did You Have Your Lap-band Done?
hf2havefun replied to Lap-bandit's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was banded in Bridgeport, Connecticut @ St. Vincent's Hospital By Dr. Timothy Ehrlich. -
It never ends. I had it happen again today, but at work during lunch, with my co-workers/friends. :hungry: I was having my nice small portion of scrambled egg beaters and started to put a little salt on them. "Can you have that?" I said 'yeah, a little bit'. Then came the pepper. "Can you have that?" I gave the same reponse. Then I wanted a little ketchup. My friend Jason says "Should you be having ketchup with all the sugar that's in it?" 'Yes', and then proceeded to tell him to mind his own eating habits because I'm doing just fine with mine. 'So back off!':omg: I know that partly they are joking, especially since they started calling me skinny. Can we say oxy-moran?! I know they're trying to be supportive, but they're starting to grate my nerves and I've only been back to work for one whole week after a 3 week medical leave.

I swear sometimes I just want to scream! Tonight after dinner (I'm still on pureed foods) my mom came out with these Fake-out cannoli's from Rachael Ray. Which is a fat free cannoli filling in a sugar cone. Knowing that I can't have the sugar cone, I knew there was more of just the filling in the fridge. So I asked my mom if I could try "a little". She said I could, but as I pulled it out of the fridge my sister made this look and rolled her eyes at me. :rolleyes I asked her what the problem was and she kept telling me nothing. Yet you know she was giving me this look that I shouldn't be having any of it. All I had was just over a teaspoon size in a tiny dish. Later I find out that she went to mom all "concerned" that I shouldn't have been eating it. My mom, thank goodness, stuck up for me and told her not to make anymore comments and that I'm capable of making my own decisions, and that the dessert was fat free anyway. Why is it that whenever other people know you're on a diet (or now have the band) and are trying to lose weight there are those certain people that feel they have to be your food police. My word! You'd think I was picking up a Double Quarter Pounder with cheese. I really wish some people would worry about their own eating habits and leave mine alone. I'm doing just fine so far.

Gall bladder out AND LaPband at the same time?
hf2havefun replied to Hello Kittee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my galbladder out 8/14/07 and then I had my band put in 8/21/07. When I asked my doc if he could them both at the same time he told me also because of the risk of infection it's safer to have it done separately. I had no problems. Did you have an ultrasound of the abdomen to check out the gallbladder? That's how they found that I had one huge gallstone and needed to have it out. I would talk to your doc about it. Good luck! -
I accept the challenge. I get my first fill on Sept. 24th. I'm 240 now, so I'll be 225 by Halloween. I guess my Hula Girl costume will have to wait til next year.

Congrats to you too Tazz. Best of luck. I'm sure you'll do great too!

How Many Pounds until People started discussing your weight loss?
hf2havefun replied to mceni's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was out of work for 3 weeks of medical leave for my gallbladder and lap-band surgeries. I lost 24 lbs and 18.75 inches by the time I went back to work. A lot of coworkers could tell that I had lost weight. Especially in my face. Now some of my coworkers are trying to call me skinny. They are really supportive but, I think that is an oxy-moran right now. That's like calling some really tall and buff guy "Tiny". It just doesn't fit yet. If they are calling me skinny now, what are they going to call me after I've lost 100+ pounds. Sometimes I just don't understand people. Has anyone else experienced this? -
Welcome! :biggrin1: I went to Trying To Conceive Ticker. There is a section for the weight-loss tickers just follow the prompts to set it up and save. Also save that ticker page as a bookmark so you can quickly update it from the ticker website. Then you can right click on your ticker and then in another window open this site: go to Quick Links, Edit Signature, and paste it in the edit box where you want it. I think that's the quickest way. Anytime you go to update it in the ticker web page it should automatically update in your signature if it's set up correctly. Good luck!

Consumption of full liquids....HELP
hf2havefun replied to guinessgirl77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Liquids are going to go down easier. If you're eating faster than 30 minutes you would notice it feeling full sooner, but I don't recommend it. I think basically the first couple days for me it was only a couple ounces every fifteen minutes. I was on clear liquids for the first week and by the second week I could do an 8oz protein drink in 30-45min. Everyone is different. I had my surgery on 8/21 and am on pureed foods this week. I'm still not hungry and sometimes can't even finish my 4oz meal (breakfast and lunch). If you're concerned about how many ounces I would call your doc. Good luck! -
Welcome everyone! I'm sure you'll find a ton of info on this site. I've found it to be very helpful and encouraging.
-
Congrats and good luck!:clap2: I'm sure you'll do fine. I had mine on 8/21/07. I surprisingly am still not hungry. Hope it goes this well for you. Keep us posted.:biggrin1:

I took my measurements & I'm down 24.50 inches total so far. :whoo:The scale hasn't moved in almost two weeks (stopped at -24 lbs) but I'm still melting away. I was in a 24 for pants (waist was a little big to start). Now they are hanging off me, not falling yet but close. Now I get to go shopping through my wardrobe to find a smaller pair. Not sure what size I am yet (22 or 20) until I find the pants.:biggrin1:

Did you stay the night or go home on day of surgery?
hf2havefun replied to mandi78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stayed one night. I had trouble with my oxygen levels staying above 90 because of a combination of anesthesia, my sleep apnea, and asthma. I also live an 1 1/2 hours from the hospital so my parents stayed in a hotel nearby that night. I didn't get much sleep, not used to all the noises. Also, my roommate wasn't feeling well after her surgery (lap-band also) she was nauseous and having back spasms. But even though I didn't get much sleep, I'd rather have stayed than gone home, especially because of my breathing complication. I got to leave after 12:30 the next afternoon. -
Which island of Hawaii are you going to stay on? Oahu, Maui, The Big Island, etc. My family and I did a cruise on NCL for Hawaii this past October. After the cruise we stayed 2 nights in Waikiki at the Marriott Beach Resort and Spa. It was part of our package so I'm not sure how much it was. But if you look online like travelocity or any of those other ones you can get an idea of the prices. The closer to the beach the higher the price it seems. Another good site for things to do/excursions is hawaiiactive.com. You can even book them online. Good luck! It's absolutely beautiful there. I can't wait to go again.

August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far
hf2havefun replied to MissNilsa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello everyone! I'm 16 days post op and I'm on pureed foods this week. One thing that I absolutely love for a meal is my version of chicken cacciatore. -2oz. chicken strips, chopped -about 1-2oz chopped onion -1/2 to 3/4 cup of the Campbell's Select Gold Box of Tomato with basil and garlic -puree in a processor, pour into a mug, and heat til hot. Even without adding any spices it tastes just like Chicken Cacciatore. Aside from that I'm back to actually going to the gym. About 30 minutes on the treadmill to start for now. A group of us are even walking for 30 minutes after lunch. :faint:Surprisingly, I'm still not hungry. Not that I'm complaining. Now if I could just see the scale start to move down again. Trying to be patient but, we all know we'd like it gone overnight. My port incision and one incision toward that top is still a little sore but, they seem to be healing nicely. Next week soft foods (Real food). :whoo::whoo::whoo:
