That's right! We did have our surgeries around the same time! As for the original post, you will start feeling better. Continue to be patient with yourself & take one day at a time. You will eventually feel strong & be able to help others with your story that may also go through the same or similar situation. I wish you the best!

    The Emotions?

Hi there! Well, I requested extra counseling after the initial psych evaluation that was required for my insurance. I'm not sure if you are spiritual or not, but what I did was I talked to God a lot & told him all of my worries, fears, anxieties. I literally said "Lord, please let me be one of those types that can tolerate just about anything after surgery". I watched a whole lot of Youtube videos & received a lot of tips, ideas, strength, and encouragement. I also utilized this forum a lot. I spent many days before/after work lying on the couch or on the bed & thinking/meditating about my feelings & the journey ahead of me. These are things that helped me. I was DETERMINED before surgery to return to as much as a normal life as possible. I knew I would follow the advise of the professionals for the most part, but I've also learned to know what my personal body wants/needs despite of. For example, I just started using a straw today with no issues. It's helping me drink my water better/quicker (not too quick of course). I hope this helps. Oh, I've also journaled to get my emotions out.

    hanging stomach during exercise

Yes, I recommend compression garments also. Try on some to see which ones are not too constricting (spelling? lol). There may also be some exercise pants that hold you in as well. Google it on-line & just do a little research. I understand how this would feel very uncomfortable. Total thumbs up for exercising!! Keep up the great work!

    Gift to myself

Ha Ha...true. Mine have gone down about a half size. I put on my dress shoes one day & my heals kept slipping out! Yes, they are nice shoes! It's great that you treated yourself.
  18. I'd like to know what you've tried. I'm just curious. You can send me personal message if you'd like. I tried Doritos Locos Taco Supreme & ate it all. No probs at all & it had some Protein. I enjoyed it.
  19. Hey! Hey! Hey! Don't talk about yourself like that!! You ate a cheeseburger with bun. Okay, that's a fact. It's over. Don't dwell on it. Hopefully you enjoyed it. I say that, because we are human & you can consider that a "treat", just plan treats for occasions & do the best with everything else. You will be just fine. You're not weak. It's something that you wanted & you ate it. Nothing more, nothing less. ***Disclaimer-This is MY OPINION, lol

    BIG FAT PEOPLE!

When I think about my though process (concerning food, my health, fitness) before surgery, I honestly feel feeling of hurt...weird maybe, but I feel sorry for the person I used to be. At some point I can definately say I was addicted to food...not always, but it went in cycles of course, many times triggered by negative events/emotions. I allowed food to comfort me on many occasions. Sometimes I would eat until I felt physically ill. I truly thank God for first working on my mind, & then secondly, having the Dr to work on my body. I no longer feel like a "slave" to food. I'm in control now & I love it.
  22. I'm just a little past 6wks out, and I too believe that what is best FOR ME is to learn & pay attention to my own body to see what it wants, likes, and also needs. I eat what feels good/goes down well but try to make the best nutritional choices. I thought one day I would try the Doritos Locos Supreme Taco & it went down great...the whole thing! I enjoyed every bite. Yummy! For the record, I think the original is better than the Cool Ranch, LOL. Anyway, I love eating Wendy's chili, and I like it sweet, so I put splenda in it. Before I had surgery, I prayed (seriously, I did) "God please let me be one of the people that can tolerate almost anything", and he answered my prayers. Yes, I've not tried pasta, bread, or rice yet, so the jury is still out on that. I do well with veggies (only tried canned & also fresh lettuce & spinach), fresh fruit, chicken, beef, pork (sausage), beans, low fat tortillas, crunchy tacos, eggs, well...you get the point. Right now I'm craving a low fat frozen yogurt smoothie. I just need to count my coins, lol. Best wishes to all of you. Enjoy this journey & live....LIVE...LOVE...LAUGH...ENJOY. LIfe is truly a gift from God above. He wants us to enjoy it.

    Just ate a Wendy's cheeseburger!

Well, actually, I plan to try a hamburger one day. I will get the small/regular size cheeseburger & hope that I can tolerate the bread since I've not incorporated it into my meals yet. I thought to myself..."hmmm....Will you want to try a french fry??" But, I just don't even think that a french fry sounds good at all. I just think of grease. Cheeseburgers were one of my fav foods to eat before surg & I plan to treat myself to one or portion of one every now & then in the future. I think I'll try the Jr. Whopper. Yummy!

    Just ate a Wendy's cheeseburger!

LOL, I have not had a baked potato since surgery March 6, 2013 but that's funny cause I like to smash mine out over the plate too.
