Wow! Glad you are feeling some relief from that...Good Luck!
-
What kind of Gas-X? I found MUCH more relief with the chewables than the strips--they are a bit stronger! And definitely WALK...and when you tired, walk a little more. Sit with the heating pad for a spell & then walk again! Watch out for shoulder pain...that will probably settle in after your gas is a bit relieved...just keep walking & use liquid Tylenol for the shoulder pain. Hang in there!

Yup, three LONG weeks...never would have believed that I could've done something like that! But, I am determined! I have "cheated"--when I had the runs last week I slowly ate two pieces of American cheese for the binding effect (but the chewing was very therapuetic too!) I am SO sick of protein shakes! Lucygirl~I noticed you got filled & then unfilled, what was the reason for that? Hope everything is OK!
-
I know, the growling kinda echoes throughout the body! Ah, mushies...I can only dream about them! I have 5 more days of liquids until I can even have pureed. Strange to think that I am actually excited to eat cottage cheese--I imagine it tasting SO good! My doc requires 3 weeks liquids only after surgery--I was banded the day before you! Great job on the weight loss!! It's a great feeling, huh?
-
Nope, not alone! My growling has caused much laughter at work...but I just grab something to drink and try to tame it! I haven't had as much gas as in the beginning--maybe I am just trying to control it while I am at work. Are you on pureed or mushies yet?
-
Melissa--REALLY? About the infection, I mean? That is news to me, I will have the hubby take one tonight! And, GREAT idea about ebay--we could make money for our new skinny clothes! Just think, winter & leather coats, fancy dresses from a zillion weddings, the list is endless!!
-
Congrats on the jeans fitting you guys now! That's an accomplishment in & of itself! I have Seven7 jeans from Lane Bryant & loved how they fit...look forward to just the regular sized Seven's though! I know I vow NOT to keep my "fat" clothes once I start shedding more weight, I don't want them there as a safety net! I have been trying to put $50 a week into an account for skinny clothing shopping! Can't wait! I went to the doc today because one of my incisions is slightly infected (it's really high up on my tummy & falls under my big ol' boob & is in the bra so it got real warm & sweaty!) No big problem or anything, but kinda yucky! Anyhow...5 more days of liquids, bummer! I was hoping they'd say pureed was okay now. But, I scheduled my first fill 7/6/07! Yay!

My surgeon was all in favor of a glass or two of wine a night...which pleased me! I think once I start to inbibe again (after I have some solid foods in me) that I will THOROUGHLY enjoy my wine at night!

Oh I am so glad you said that...I have been feeling this terrible pain behind my right shoulder blade & trying like the devil to figure out what I did! That makes sense as my port is on my right. Thank you. Liquid Tylenol has been helping. Ragdoll--My port hasn't been real swollen, however it is totally painful if I touch it or rub into something in that area. I have been alternating with the heating pad & an ice pack to alleviate some of that. I am sure the Liquid Tylenol helps that as well. :clap2: Susan--hang in there sweetie! So sorry to hear of your difficulties & troubles. Hopefully your recovery will go smoothly from here on out! Today was unpleasant. I have the runs, however since I am still only DRINKING, it's all liquidy & farty. Totally miserable at work, finally left early. Came home & napped, but still don't feel as good as I have. I hesitated to take Imodium or anything because I really don't want to get backed up & my doctor's office was closed by the time I woke up to clear it with them. Any of you know if that is OK to take? I had to switch protein drinks today, just couldn't stomach another one of the kind I had been drinking. I ordered that Unjury stuff some of you had suggested, thanks tons! Today I tried a Carnation Instant Breakfast--no sugar french vanilla. What a treat! Totally different taste! Take good care everyone!

My doctor said no caffeine during the first four weeks, until solids are introduced because of the appetite stimulant effect that it may have. But then he said coffee is A-OK! Thank goodness...I haven't been without my daily cup of coffee for this long since I was a teenager! I too was told that wine actually is good for your digestion...thank goodness for that! I know I will be looking forward to that! My mouth is drooling right now thinking of it (that doesn't sound good since it is only 8:25am!) Oh well, it's the little things in life! I, for the first time in a LONG time, am below 300 as of this morning's trip to the scale! I can't tell you how good I feel about that...makes all the uncomfortableness worth it! I needed the boost! Now I just have to get my butt in gear with more exercise, but my doctor said only walking until I see him in another week! Hope everyone that was feeling down or in pain is doing better! Happy Wednesday to all of you!

Thanks to all of you for your input with the protein ideas...I will order some tonight! I went back to work today, but didn't make a full 9 hours. I was BEAT! I don't know if it was from driving there & having to sit up straight or what?! Anyhow, my boss is cool and didn't give me any crap, just said "feel better!" As far as the gas goes at work...how terrifying! I brought Gas-X with me, but still made a bunch of trips to the bathroom. How embarrassing! I feel much better being at home where gas doesn't really matter. I drank SO much today, tried to keep myself full while at work...I think I might just float away! Hope all of the surgeries today went smoothly & hope that all of you are smiling!

Good Afternoon everyone! I am so in sync with many of you...I am HUNGRY--or at least that is what I think the growling & rumbling is telling me. I keep drinking & drinking but it's still there! :nervous Let's all keep trying...we know what we're working towards! Anyone noticed that they have a heightened sense of smell? I am so keen to smells for some reason! Kitty litter, food, grass, you name it! I even asked my DH if he brushed his teeth--didn't go over too well after all the good TLC he's been giving me! Wonder why? Am I alone on that? On the BM subject--mine are very yellow as well, GROSS! Protein--where do you get this good Unjury protein? I need something new.

I haven't been shy talking about getting my band...told friends, co-workers, some family members. I think for me because I am so insecure I needed support before the procedure & will definitely need it after so by telling people I will gain support & feedback. I had told my parents that I was looking into it, with horrendous results. They were "disappointed in me", "I was taking the easy way out", "I could do it on my own if I tried" and that "I never follow through on anything." Totally devastated me. My DH made me hang up the phone with them as I was hysterical. Understand, both of my parents are obese, and have been my whole life and have been diagnosed with Type II diabetes. My main goal for the band is to prolong my life & make it healthier. They couldn't grasp that. Needless to say, they are unaware that I had the procedure last week and I don't know when or how I will tell them. Kind of unsettling, but I am an adult who feels she made the right choice for her life.

NimbleBean~ Would you please add me to the a-MAY-zing bandsters...I just want to belong! :rolleyes Tuesday, May 22nd. Thanks!

I am right there with you wenjea--looking at the food others are eating is making me want to eat, although I am so not hungry. Gotta psych ourselves into not falling for that mental trap! Stay strong sisters! And yes, the farts are rotten smelling...embarrassing! I sure hope they go away before I return to work Tuesday! Question--when do BM's start coming regularly?

Post-Op Pain Survey Questions
anjul19 replied to Alexandra's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1. Was your procedure outpatient or did you stay overnight? Inpatient--reported to ambulatory surgery at 2:30pm Tuesday, OR at 5pm, into my room about 9pm and left for home about 3pm Wednesday. 2. Did you have complications related to surgery? Not that I know of! 3. What you were given for at home pain? How many days did you take it? Diluadid 2mg--took for 2.5 days after coming home 4. Pain after surgery for how many days? Well, today is 5 days out...haven't taken pain meds in 2.5 days but I am still uncomfortable at times which Tylenol cures 5. Degree of pain...10 being your arm was cut off and 1 being a paper cut? At my lowest pain tolerance it was a 6, after getting home I was more uncomfortable than in pain and would say a 1.5 from then on 6. Doctor and state where surgery was done? Dr. Keith Zuccala, Danbury Connecticut -
Holy medicine! I can't believe how much they gave you! Good to hear you didn't need it all! Congrats on that! I got 30 2mg tablets of Dilaudid--maybe took 10 over the first three days...none today. I am still sore, but not in pain so to speak. Does anyone out there get uncomfortable sitting straight up? I feel like I have a bubble under my ribs when I sit up straight for any amount of time.

Good Afternoon Everyone! Today I have choked down: 2 6 oz. protein drinks(made with skim milk & water) 8 oz. crystal lite 6 oz. V-8 juice 1 sf popsicle My food choices/food days are extremely boring! I am not supposed to have any of these delicious soups I hear you all enjoying! I am jealous. Not hungry, just yearning to taste something yummy! The V-8 juice had a lot of flavor compared to many of the other things I am drinking. I have until June 7th on just liquids, then I get to progress to pureed food. It's bizarre all of the different doctors' recommendations for intake & at what stage. Sad to think that my big treat of the day will be chicken broth for dinner with a sf jello for dessert. However, it will be worth it in the long run! Happy Saturday!

Mal~ Keep your chin up and stay positive! You are in a lot of people's thoughts and prayers! On the top of my list right now. I'm pulling for you!
-
Thanks tons Kacee! It's great to have some place to go & share all of these steps with people who understand! How are you doing on the liquids? I am jealous of all of you who get to eat soups, yogurts, etc... I am strictly on protein shakes & sugar-free liquids until I go back to the surgeon June 7th. I did hear of a good protein pureed meal through a band-mate at my hospital--Progresso Lentil Soup in the blender--packed with protein & supposedly tastes great! Only two more weeks until I can try that! My incisions have a "glue" over them, which the surgeon says will naturally dissipate when it's ready. I have showered a few times & the glue seems looser around the edges, but no problems to report. I bought a vitamin-E stick today to start applying to the scars once the glue is off.
-
Had to share this, I just made the most amazing bacon-wrapped, horseradish stuffed grilled shrimp for my hubby & I wasn't even tempted to eat one bite! Unbelievable! A week ago I would have eaten half by the time I served them! Banding is terrific! p.s. Don't get me wrong, they smelled good, looked good & I would've probably loved to eat one, but I just didn't have the interest!

Popsicle (the original brand) Sugar-Free Hawaiian Tropicals--Hawaiian Pineapple, Tropical Orange & Caribbean Fruit Punch. Honestly, they don't taste sugar-free at all!
-
I've been having the same problem ragdoll, I can't drink all the protein shakes. I was banded Tuesday night and since coming home Wednesday have only gotten two full shakes down. I am sipping water, crystal lite, sf popsicles (the hawaiian pineapple are a taste of heaven!). Wenjea had suggested a heating pad for my stomach, that helped TREMENDOUSLY from yesterday to today--the swelling is almost non-existent! Also, I've made sure to walk & then walk some more. It's helped. Yesterday I was miserable, today I haven't even taken a pain pill or tylenol! Keep smiling!
