    African American Sleevers

Every thread I have read talks about the dreaded 3 week stall. It is the first of many. Your body is in major adjustment phase, trying to hold on thinking it's in starvation mode. Keep working the sleeve and you will see results. Don't stress because that's no good either. Never before had your body lost at this rate so be gentle and understanding with what it does. You will be a big loser! Lol

    African American Sleevers

So glad we have a safe support system with out all the judgement. WLS has been given such a "bad" reputation, why I'm not really sure. But most in our cmmunity speak of it as "that" surgery. I really think there is so much ignorance about all this life change requires/brings/demands and changes and improves that most would say this is not the "easy" way out. And why such a stigma to doing something to give you a better quality of life, potentially saving your life! So a big thank you for sharing your story, your comments, goals and even short comings. 37 days and counting. And I'm striving to not feel any type of "shame" about MY decision for MY life!

  19. That is awesome! Everything I've read says that hypothyroidism is not changed by weight loss. So it did change for you? I have it do I would like to know.

  21. So glad to find the group. My name is Chandra and I live in Houston. I have been nurse for 10 years this past January. This is career number two, my first was 10+ years in Criminal Justice as a Court Services Officer. I have worked in long term care, hospice and the last 4 years I have been in Clinical Quality Management primarily with cardiac patients. I am a newlywed 1 yr (To a Southern Pastor no less)and mother to a 16 yr old and a 4 legged daughter. I have 40 days until life become even "gooder" lol. May 20th I will have my sleeve and I am so looking forward to become a loser. This site has truly been a God send for all the information encouragement and support thru this journey.
