Hi everyone! I live on the west side of Houston, Cypress to be exact. I am having surgery in Tijuana Mexico on March 23. I have insurance but after paying the deductible and co-pays I will come out cheaper going to Mexico. I just moved here in Sep. I am from Longview TX. I would love to meet people in the area who have had surgery or will be having it. We could just talk or we could meet to exercise before or after surgery. I saw this book advertised online when I first started researching this surgery. Has anyone read this book? If so what all does it include? I am interested in a book that I includes diet and exercise info, how to have long term success, calorie and Protein needs, how to help with excess skin, and things of that nature. I don't need a book that only talks about obesity and why you should have this particular surgery. I have already decided on this surgery and I know how it works. Now I need something to help afterwards. Does this book cover what I am looking for? Thank you!!

Yeah he loves his work. You are lucky to have someone to go thru this with. That will help alot to keep each other motivated and on track.

I was going to go with Dr. Rod originally because I live in TX and I could drive there. Then I checked on Dr. Garcia in Tijuana cause I kept hearing great stuff about him. Even with airfare I will come out $1200 cheaper so I went with him. My husband does x-ray but he does industrial x-ray on welds and metals.He works on pipelines, papermills, power plants, and stuff like that.

Why is it taking so long to get? Did you file already or are you one of the people like me who has to wait?

Me too! I filed them January 30 but they won't be sent to the IRS until they start accepting taxes that claim education credits and also depreciation from self employment. I am scheduled for 3/23 so I really hope I get it before then!!

Oh you are so LUCKY!! Just a couple more days!! Who is your Doctor in Tijuana? Are you going alone? Are you nervous about flying? I have only flown once before and I was about 240 then so I am so worried I won't fit in the seats. I have read about people having that problem and I would be mortified!!

Hi Jazzyr! My name is Misty and I live in the Houston area. Cypress to be exact. I am getting sleeved on March 23 in Tijuana. My insurance does not cover weight loss surgery at all so I am self pay. I really don't think it matters though because I think after the co-pays and deductible I will come out cheaper anyway. I would love to talk to someone in Houston. How do we get pain medicine to take home with us in Mexico? I went to a border town once to see a dentist while we were on vacation. When we went back across the border into Texas they asked us what we were bringing back from Mexico so I naturally told them about the pain medicine the Doctor gave me. They told me you cannot bring narcotics back with you even with a prescription. They let me keep the antibiotics but they confiscated the pain meds. So do we get pain meds to take home or do we have to see ourPCP when we get home?

That is cool. I would like to see a video of my surgery. I wonder if Dr. Garcia does that? I will have to ask.

Did they make a video of it? Did you get to see your stomach they cut out?

Ididn't think it would hurt that bad until I watched an actual sleeve surgery on youtube. I should not have done that. I was in pain watching it!!

Where do you live. I live in Houston and got a ticket for $220 from United. I was shocked it was that cheap.

Oh wow that is a very low grade pain medicine to receive after major surgery. Thats a little scary. I guess we can always go to our PCP if we need something stronger.

I am scheduled for March 23rd as long as the delayed filing for business owners comes through by then. Surely they will have everything fixed by then.
