bypass results the same after 5 years. Yes we lose slower but after 5 years the results are the same as a bypass patient. The article continued to say how surgeons are now realizing that the band is the way to go and some are only doing bypass on high risk patients (ie - heart problems, etc..) Anyway just thought it was interesting

anyone filled up pver 2.3 cc's in a 4 cc band?
Connorsmom replied to lovecats85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have 2.6 in my 4cc band. Was hard to eat at first but must be loosening up a bit as time goes by. -
What am I going to do? Can I unload on you guys?
Connorsmom replied to mercedes's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
For me, it is all about restriction. I am not a rule follower and have to say that I have not really dieted. Up until my last fill I lost about 45 lbs but it was a struggle - most came off the first months folowing surgery and the rest was up and down. Since my last fill I am not hungry - I have my am coffee and then one meal during the day. Mind you my fill is tight but if I chew and make good choices I am fine and the lbs are coming off. BTW - I drink with my meals and do not really exercise (except chasing after my 2 year old!) I am not encouraging "my way" and yes I am a slow loser but it is working for me. Good luck -
Never to see those numbers again! Down 54.5 lbs!! YIPEE!

For me it was one fill that was too tight. Now I have great restriction but do not eat alot of things for fear of pb (bread, dry meat, eggs) -
Hi I have been treated for hypothyroidism for years. Since surgery my medication has had to be adjusted a few times. I have noticed since my last adjustment I have restriction and am actually not hungry and losing!!

when I eat and drink. When I take a sip of something or swallow food I get this strange pain on the left side of my neck and it goes down my arm as the food/drink goes down and then it subsides. Wierd or what? Also after drinking or eating I keep having to burp.

Connorsmom replied to fatgirlnomore's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I woke up feeling awful - the worst part was not having anything to drink until after my floroscope. Out and about by day 3 -

So my friend had GBS in September and is down almost 80 lbs!! She started about about 20 lbs heavier than I was at my heaviest (so around 350), she eats everything and anything and is losing like crazy. Here I am almost a year out and only down 50lbs!!

How much weight did you have to lose before surgery?
Connorsmom replied to sleepyjean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did not have to lose before surgery. I was 330 lbs and 5'6" -
not chewing enough, not taking small enough bites and not eating slow enough. Lesson to be learned, you really do have to CHEW, CHEW, CHEW and eat very slowly and very small bites We went out for our anniversary and I ate a crabcake and two bites of my husband steak and even a bit of dessert. So I am just going to really have to adjust to my latest fill.

SInce my last adjustment last Thursday I can only eat after 5:00. The rest of the day is mostly Soup and drinks otherwise I pb. Is that normal? I was going to go and have a slight un-fill but now I think I will leave it as is.

So a week ago I had my third adjustment (my second fill was taken out because it was too tight). I am too tight again, or am I My morning coffee is refluxing and liquids take a while to go through. When I try to eat I chew, and chew and then it gets stuck and I pb. Does this sound too tight or am I doing something wrong? I called doctor and staying on liquids until next Wednesday when I go back to see him to an un-fill ( I think)

My goal is 50 lbs by January 24th 2006 (1 year)

Oh I am very irregular and since my banding I been having periods every 40 or so days. This last one was 26 days so go figure. Before surgery I never had my period and would go almost a year without. Too much weight can cause your cycles to stop Weight loss will bring them back

my AVERGAGE is 1.2 lbs per week BUT that is not how my loss has happened. I lost the most weight in the beginning and the rest has been an up and down struggle, plateaus, small gains and then losses. I am up 4.5 lbs from my lowest and not happy!!

The NEVER ENDING BURP- filled too tight?
Connorsmom replied to thechatrooper's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had the same thing and I was too tight. I let it go for three weeks and in that time I puked everything I tried to eat and even liquids did not go down so great. I had 1cc of my 2.6cc fill removed and now I have no restriction and have gained back 5 lbs!! Waiting to go back and have some put back! I would wait a few days but if it is not better call your doc. -
Had to cancel my fill for today!! I had 1cc of my 2.6cc fill removed two weeks ago (it was too tight) and was very excited to have some put back today ( as I can eat everything and have been!) but my babysitter is sick and cancelled. NOw I have to wait until after Thanksgiving! Oh I hope I can have control until then - it stinks not having restriction!

My son is 2 today!! I was 312# when I got pregnant and delivered at around 325# I had no complications and had a c-section because baby was side-ways. Baby was wonderfully healthy and came into the world at 7lbs 14oz. We are going to have another but waiting for me to lose a bit more.
-
Well three weeks ago had my second fill and have not been able to eat since. Last night doctor took it out and told me to let my band rest for a couple of weeks. Well I feel like I have no fill at all. This stinks and I pray I don't gain back the 7 lbs I have lost since my fill!

Hi I have a friend that had the bypass in August. She has lost some weight (about 45 lbs) but I have been noticing that she eats everything (chips, cake, pizza). How is this possible?? We were out to dinner and she had chips, salsa, guacamole, a margarita and then she finished her whole dinner (a big steak salad) I don't want to say anything to her but I concerned
