I feel like sh?&!
jacee replied to mrsplusamericajacksonville's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep the first 4 weeks are not comfortable. You are learning how to get all your H20 (not enough and you will feel terrible), learning how to beat head hunger, naand battle nauseau. I actually felt better starting the 2nd week and by the 4th felt more like myself. The first night? I wanted to push rewind. That was awful. But it gets better, dont suffer, call the Dr get some Zofran to all but eliminate nauseau. Stay hydrated, suck on sugar free popsicles, eat sugar free jello, I had cream of wheat all the time. Get the drink drops from the store and add them to flavor your water, Crystal Light Strawberry Lemonade, or Dasani pink lemonade, both very good and makes water more exciting and easier to drink a lot of. Use ice in those drinks, tastes much better icey cold. Go for some small walks around your house, getting the oxygen pumping through your body/organs makes you feel renewed even in small doses. Give yourself a couple weeks to recover. You will feel better soon I promise. -
food in the throat feeling

My nut said that if you have that feeling you have eaten too much. I have gone by that and I believe its true. -
3.5 months post op update!
jacee replied to Armywife29's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Their should be a million posts on here telling you what an awesome job you have done! Congrats. I only have a month and 20 pounds to catch up with you, not sure thats going to happen. But I am giving you a standing ovation. Awesome! Even with this surgery its still takes work. -
Good Lord, this scares the crap out of me. I eat popcorn once a week. And I personally dont want anything "trapped" in me that they have to surgically remove. I had Diverticulits before I had this surgery (doesent seem to bother me now) but its kindove the same thing things get trapped in inflamed pockets in your colon, and you feel like you are going to die. VERY painful.

I have never drank carbonation, but I have had a glass of wine, 3 times since surgery. Made me tipsy quickly. But thats fine one glass takes about an hour to drink, and never have I drank it with food. Im 2.5 months out. And for those of you who are saying we shouldnt drink alcohol becuase of the empty calories, I know I know, but give me a break...I have 3 teenagers, and 1 of them is a GIRL teenager...LOL so only 3 glasses of wine in 2.5 months is pretty good.

Thats about a 4lb weight loss a week, Surgery date was Feb 27 -13 SW 265 also the most I ever weighed (she straw that broke the camels back) This includes lots of stalls, and I still consider myself a slow looser, I have a sleeve of steel, I can eat anything, although I dont usually let myself.

Just exactly how much of which vitamins are recommended?
jacee posted a topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I take Biotin, Centrum silver (for the record I am only 43 b12 and Vitamin D. I honestly have no idea how much I am supposed to take. I just take them. I asked the nut she told me to ask the surgeon.. Anyone know what we are supposed to take. I am most curious about the Biotin because my pills are 7500 mcg..per tablet. Thanks, J -
I had my surgery on Feb 27, my hw was 265 sw 259 (no pre op diet) cw 232. and at my last count a week ago I had lost 20.5 inches My weight loss seems like its slower than others. Although I am very happy to have lost 33 pounds and 20.5 inches. I lost 20 some of that my first month, this month April, I have lost maybe the other 13, and I am hoping for to get in to the 220's before May 1. My goal is to be under 200 by August, which is my birthday, which gives me 3 months. Actually my dream would be to loose 45 lbs in the next 3 months, so about 15 pounds a month, not sure if thats realistic. I have a sleeve of steel unfortunatley, I can eat almost anything. At first nothing tasted good. It took me awhile to find a food I felt satisfied with. Which is the bacon pineapple meatballs and sausages from Costco, also I know its crazy but I really like the chocolate Premier shakes from Costco as well. I get all my vitamins in and have only had one problem since surgery to speak of which was a ruptured ovarian cyst, that sent me to the emergency room at 5 am with what I thought for sure was a gall bladder attack from WLS. My NSV was going to the store to buy clothes and even bigger NSV they were not all BLACK! lots of colors, and off the rack, still buying XXL, and size 18 jeans at Old Navy, but it is comfortable, or just a bit too big. I was at the point before surgery where this would have been too small for me. So I just wouldnt buy new clothes. Sorry I am rambling, I havent told anyone about my surgery except for my husband/mom/sister/daughter ( I swore her to secrecy so she better not tell anyone..she is 14 lol) So no one to really talk about with all of this. Thanks for listening...

Hey Brandy! We have almost the same stats. I am also 5'7 and my sw was 259 I am now at 232 Surgery date 2-27 I feel like a slow looser, but we are not. We are middle of the road above average. I could do more to increase my loss. And the window of opportunity is now, from what I have read, a year from now our restriction isnt as good as it is the first 1-8 months. So with that in mind, almost 8 weeks in for myself, I am going to start "steering this boat" lol. I have kindove sat back and waited for it to just happen, like ran to the mirror every morning and expected to see my former skinny self staring at me like a long lost friend...yeah..not gonna happen. The first 5 weeks I didnt have to work at the loss yes, now, I have to be an active participant. I had started to expieriment with things that I could chew into liquid but werent good for my loss, but were comfort foods. Namely Popcorn and Fritos. I was like excusing the fact that I could eat them on how well I could chew them into liquid...yeah...no. Those are going into the garbage. The weather is starting to get nice, I am going to walk on the beach, the track, some where. Friday I am buying a one month membership to the gym (If I buy 3 months Ill think I have 3 months to go..lol) Again I have to regain the power to take this where I want it to go. And I am kindove excited about that.

Vision has declined since surgery. Anyone else?
jacee replied to Jenny12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my optometrist said I had dry eye syndrome and perscribed 2 eye drops, it took three visits before they wrote the perscription. Maybe this is why, becuase they said they couldnt get the perscription right until it was addressed. -

December sleevers update
jacee replied to sk14712012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HOLY MOLEY! what a HUGE difference. You must feel amazing. -
Yes I mainly just eat protiens. But I have snuck in some carbs on the weekends. You can, well I can eat around my sleeve if I choose to. But that is a bad habit to start. I catch myself. Its true what they say on here up your water and protien and the scale will pay off.
-
Yes you are totally correct. Most people dont want to talk about this or admit it but its very true. I am not a coucilor but I think its a transfer of distractions from whatever you dont want to deal with. Before you used food to do this, not that you cant use food, you are using your phone, for others it can be shopping, gambling, smoking, social networking anything to keep your mind numb from what you are not facing head on. I will be the first to admit I would like to see a councilor to talk about my issues, god knows my plates full..lol. I dont just want a healthy body, I want a healthy mind too. It matters. Thanks for posting this.

How many of you recent sleevers are hungry?
jacee posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The NUT said that we wouldnt be hungry at all after surgery for the first couple weeks...after reading some of your posts Im wondering how true that really is..I know their is head hunger and you have to seperate that from real hunger I am wondering if its the rule or the exception to feel hungry and deprived after surgery. I will be honest Im being sleeved in 48 hours and I and I want to know what to expect. -
Failing at the life change....
jacee replied to mahow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Make a habit of putting all your liquid Vitamins in a Protein shake each morning and drink it. I have done this since day one and now I cant go a day without it. If I do I feel sluggish. You need the vitamins to keep you healthy and beautiful while your body is slimming down. -
feb 2013 sleevers weigh in
jacee replied to kathyhalls's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is inspiring!! Holy cow, we have similar stats/ SW 265 CW 241 5"7 SD 2-27 and you are def passing me up. Whats your secret? I was a little discouraged, the fancy schmancy new scale I bought, says I weigh more than both my Drs office scales! So I am back to the old faithful scale in the downstairs bathroom. It has the same numbers as DR office and I am feeling a little more encouraged after finding that I weigh less ( hey plus or minus 4 or 5 pounds at this point makes a BIG difference) I I feel like I have had had a stall at 2 weeks, 3 weeks, and now I am entering my 6th and my weight loss is starting to drop more like a drip from a leaky faucet. I get up and weigh myself every morning with the anticipation of a 6 year old looking for their Easter basket on Easter morning..lol..I wish I could restrain myself and weigh just weekly or ideally once a month. I heard another poster say that he weighed just once a month and never had a stall..clever. -
Its been 19 days since I was sleeved. The vets are not joking when they say the first few days are rough. I even stalled my second week. Didn't loose a pound for 9 days. I have lost about 20 pounds to date (no pre-op diet) and 10". It takes some getting used to. Sitting at dinners out watching everyone else eat. Trying to get all the protein shakes in ( cant handle protein powders) and water. Also trying to get "activity" in. I have anxiety over getting a blood clot (not overly obsessed about it but on my mind) so I try to get walking at the mall in and just did 20 minutes on the elliptical today. My hunger did not go away like some ppl say theirs did. So yes I spend a part of my days hungry. I don't have cravings just feel deprived. Yesterday I ate something I shouldn't have, (chicken jambalaya) I put it in the bullet since I am in the pureed stage.Even still I regretted it after I ate it. I dont think just because you can puree it that it makes it acceptable. Just a bit fills me up. Sometimes I can eat more than 4 ounces. I can def drink just like pre op. Big gulps. Its sounds weird but I feel like as little as I eat I should have lost a little more weight than I have. The scale is not diving down like I thought it would. Yes obviously 20 pounds in 19 days is outstanding. I get it. And I am grateful. I do miss food at times. Usually at night. I miss the comfort it gave me. The feeling of home. Sounds strange but that's the only word to describe it.
-
You are about the same as me, my scale bounces although its brand new and expensive ( I hate that! the old scale doesent do that) But how exciting to come home to those lower numbers! Good incentive to drink tons of H2O now !
-
My DR used a 32 Im 19 days out and can drink fluid just like pre-op. Im on purees. Tonite I had 2 or 3 bites of pureed cauliflower and BAM full. Feels like I ate an entire pizza.
-
I felt guilt or weird too about the first cpl bites I took. Same thing about being hungry a cpl hours later. I am taking Famatodine for acid. Works awesome and you can take it twice a day. How much weight have you lost since your surgery?
-
2 weeks out-only down 11 pounds.
jacee replied to cjloveydovey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh that sucks when you are doing all you can to make the scale go down. I am only 19 post op so by far no expert but I'm whining about "only" loosing 20 lol. I saw another girl on here tonite who had her surgery the same day as me that has lost 30 pounds. So we all are going to the same place (skinnyville LOL) we just may not all take the fastest route. It just depends on your starting weight, how much water and protein your able to get in etc. Plus stalling in the first cpl weeks is super common and frustrating. Its really hard not to weigh every day, but try just every cpl days and you may be more encouraged by those numbers. Think long term. In a month from now you will be so happy with your numbers I'm sure -
Someone told me or I heard somewhere to make a list of 30 other things you can do to fill in the time when you used to eat and now their is just a void. So maybe like an online class, knitting, read a book, write a book (lol) mosaic tiling, planting flowers, rent a movie etc etc. but you get the idea. I like the possibilities of giving myself a list of things I would enjoy doing or exploring the idea of that I never did before. So If I lived alone as you do that is what I would do.
