How long from begining till surgery
Chellennunley replied to MGLAW142's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started my 6 month diet jan 27. Went to my first seminar feb 11th. Contacted the coordinator with my surgeon and found out what all he required. I already knew what my insurance wanted. In March I had my cardio and pulmonary evals, and my psych eval. In June I had my first appt with my surgeon. My paperwork was submitted June 21st (they had to snail mail it). Insurance started reviewing it July 1. Got my approval July 5th. Had my EGD and surgery is scheduled for the 31st! -

Any North Mississippi Sleevers?
Chellennunley replied to rochelle25's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Have a question for Dr King's patients. What is the post op diet? I know the first week is clear liquids, no protein drinks. Then week 2 is full liquid? My surgery is a week from tomorrow, and want to make sure I have a few things already on hand. -
..... Excited much?

I have done extensive research. For several years and I have not heard that either. This is from the ASBMS study that was done in July of 2012. The 30-day mortality rate for sleeve gastrectomy was 0.08 percent, while the rate for gastric bypass was 0.14 percent and 0.03 percent for gastric banding. These mortality and complication rates are lower than those typically associated with gallbladder or hip replacement surgery.[1],[2] - See more at: http://asmbs.org/2012/06/new-studies-weigh-in-on-safety-and-effectiveness-of-newer-bariatric-and-metabolic-procedure-sleeve-gastrectomy-demonstrates-weight-loss-and-safety-comparable-to-more-established-procedures/#sthash.LHJmyCbg.dpuf -
I can honestly say I am not even a little scared. My surgery is the 31st. I handed this over to God and I have a certain peace. :-). I'm excited for next wed!

Anyone else have this during liquid pre op?
Chellennunley posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on day 7 of my preop liquid diet. I am usually a hot natured person, but lately I am FREEZING!! What the heck! lol -
Actually surviving the clear liquid diet!
Chellennunley replied to karpouzian's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost finished with day 8. I'm also scheduled for July 31st. Mine is clear liquids, sf Popsicles, jello, powerade zero, tea with Splenda, crystal light and broth. I can have 1-3 protein drinks a day, but only EAS Advantedge. It's been way easier than I thought it would be. I'm actually having issues making myself get enough fluids in. I am, however, loving my jello and Popsicles! Lol. We got this!! -

It will surely help my electric bill this month!! l I live in Mississippi and have actually been comfy with just the ceiling fans on!! LOL -
Each dr has their own. I think it's best to follow what your dr gave you. Mine is strict. Clear liquids only with 1-3 protein shakes a day. I started last Monday. After day 3, it gets a lot easier. Just keep your eye on the prize! You got this!!

Not Sure I Do This
Chellennunley replied to Andrew0929's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hit send before I meant too. If you are a religious person, pray about it. Don't let the fear hold you back. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Good luck with your decision. -
Not Sure I Do This
Chellennunley replied to Andrew0929's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My BMI is 65. The way I look at it is like this. The chance of a leak is very slim. Less than 3%. The chance of me dying with a weight related issue in the next 5 yrs is more like 95%. I like my odds better with surgery than without. -

What were your thoughts about Dr Pinson? I thought about using him. but when I called the office, they were a bit rude, so I just went to the seminar in Oxford. I really like Dr. King. -
1 year out....6 months of stall
Chellennunley replied to kelliecalgary's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hang in there Kellie! I know what its like to struggle with fertility issues. Took me 61/2 yrs to have my son. It is an emotional roller coaster. Just keep your head up! I agree, my fitness pal is awesome! -
Im still pre-op, but one thing my surgeon stressed that I have a way to get to the hospital the moment I have issues. I am to call him, and if they think I need to be seen, then he said he wants me to drop everything and get there. He said for the first 30 days, this was very important. I know he is just being cautious, but I feel it is important.

What do you do when your coordinator is avoiding you?
Chellennunley replied to NotLookinBack's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would find out who her boss is, in a hospital, there will almost always be someone higher, or if you can, speak to the surgeon directly. You can still change Drs, once insurance approves the surgery, your good. (from my understanding) -
The pre-op diet is NOT a punishment ... it's an opportunity.
Chellennunley replied to Webchickadee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awesome post! Very well said! That is the way Im looking at this, if I cant follow the preop, how will I ever be able to follow the post op. -

july 2013 sleevers
Chellennunley replied to sureaboutme2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Who all is on their liquid diet? I started mine Monday, I could have waited till today to start it, but my son is gone to camp till tomorrow, so I thought it would be easier to start it when he wasnt home and I wasnt having to cook for him. It has worked out great. I was told if you can make it thru day3 or 4, you were good. So far, so good! I can only have clear liquids, broth, tea or coffee with sugar free sweetener, SF popsicles, SF jello and 1-3 protein drinks (EAS AdvantEDGE brand only). Then on the day before, I can only have clear liquids and have to do a colon cleanse.. Fun day that will be....lol -
Pre Op Liquid Diet...really?
Chellennunley replied to Karnie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I started yesterday, its been alot better than I thought it would be. My son went to camp, so I knew I would not be cooking for him for a few days, and that has helped a lot! I was told after day 3, its all good. Here's hoping! When I get hungry, I eat a popsicle or drink some Water. Its helping so far...We got this! -
So awesome! We are close to the same starting weight, I am 10 lbs more. Getting Sleeved 7/31. I cant wait!!
-
I know! All I usually watch is HGTV and all night it was food commercials! I would bet your period has alot to do with how your feeling. Hope you feel better! I know this is only day 2, but today has been easier than yesterday.
