nsquared reacted to joatsaint for a blog entry, Quick FAQs - Can I eat ____ After (VSG) Weight Loss Surgery
Can I eat (insert food here) after Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy WLS surgery? The answer is... most likely. It's really going to depend on the person and how you have healed. I have not found any food that I could not eat, once I was back on full foods post-op. Surprisingly, the processed foods/snack foods/fast food was the easiest to digest. It was the healthy foods - boneless skinless chicken breasts, broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, pineapple, apples and grapes that gave me trouble up until about the 6 month mark. At 9 months post-op, I can eat anything I want with only the occasional stomach growl.
The best NSV post-op is that I have not wanted all those processed/fast foods that I craved pre-surgery. I can honestly say that I don't even think about going out for pizza or hamburgers any more. So if you're worried about not being able to eat your favorite foods post-op, you may come to realize that post-op you don't WANT to eat them ever again. :-) -

For starters, I lost out on the 30lbs in 30 days goal... I was kind of bummed about it, but in the end, I'm still happy with my results.
GOALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
199 by July 11th, 2013- I'm only 16lbs away from that right now!! 7-11 is my birthday and my husband will be home and I really want to make it as best as I can, even tho I know I'm doing really well on weight loss, I just want to make this goal!!
190 by August 15th, 2013- I'll finally just be OVERWEIGHT and not Obese!!! YAY!! It will put my BMI at 29.8 which is just over the cusp! I can't wait!!
180 or less by the last week of Sept, 2013- We're going down to California to let my grandparents meet their only great grand babies for the first time and I won't have seen them for 4 years, I did not tell them I got sleeved but I'd like my weight loss and size to be surprise for them when they see me, and depending on how that goes, I may or may not tell them about the surgery.
175 or less- I just want to weigh less than my husband!! LOL, I know it sounds cheesy, but I'm really looking forward to it!!
165 by Dec, 2013- I want to get family photos taken for Christmas cards and I would like to feel comfortable about myself in the pictures!
150-155- FINAL GOAL before Valentines day of 2014!!!! I have something special planned for my husband (wink, wink)

Well, I hit ONEDERLAND on June 6th, and have dropped another 3 pounds since then. It feels great to know that those #s are behind me, and will be gone for the rest of my life now. I'm 6 pounds away from hitting 50# total loss post-op.
It's a great feeling being more active, wanting to work out, knowing that each healthy choice I make is finally actually making a difference in my end weight...whereas before it felt like all work and no pay off. I'm so glad I made this decision for myself, there has not been one day of regret so far.
My sisters and my dad are all talking about having the surgery now too, which makes me feel good, like I made the right choice- and they can see the positive changes it's made in my life- and they want it too.
My size 14 jeans are literally falling off of me, but I HATE to buy new jeans, knowing soon enough- they're going to be too big too...random, isn't it?!
Just wanted to check in, I told myself that I'd blog as much as I could on this journey to keep folks informed, and maybe someone out there deciding on the surgery will be able to see this thing through from my perspective, and it'll help them make their own decisions.

Ok, I might get blackballed and lose my MAN CARD for admitting this, but here goes. I was cleaning out the closet, looking for smaller pants to wear. I started rummaging for something that would fit, found a nice pair to try on. They were a PERFECT fit, better than any pants I've put on. Looked good in the mirror too! All that walking is shaping my butt up! Did I really say that last line?
Up till recently, you could lean me up against a flat wall and there’d be no gaps anywhere from the top of my back to my calves. My butt was so flat… How flat was it? It was often mistaken for an end table when I lay on the floor.
I looked at the tags only to find that they weren’t men’s pants at all - but a ladies size 16 that got left behind from a previous girlfriend! They must’ve mistakenly gotten mixed in with the tons of other pants and shirts that were put in the “I’ll be able to wear that again someday,” wishful thinking pile.
For the MAN Committee, I know you have no knowledge of this, but, a 16 is the 1X Women's Plus Size according to Overstock.com. And I DID have to look that up; it didn’t come from memory or previous experience wearing women’s clothing! (So MAN Committee, please take that into account when voting.)
This means that I now have the body of a woman with voluptuous hips!
P.S. Blackball or not, I'm KEEPING the pants!!
Keep Pimpin that sleeve!
