  1. I just got sleeved with Dr. Feiz on Feb 4, 2013. I see him at the Roxbury location and was sleeved in Valencia. So far I am doing fine but I am curious about the rest of you, specifically the post surgical follow-up.

    I hope this gets easier

Hang in there and please follow you doctor's instructions. It does get easier, I promise...and sooner than you think.

Go on girl! You look amazing!
  5. Congratulations! You look wonderful. Great work.
  6. Gastric dumping syndrome, is a condition where ingested foods bypass the stomach too rapidly and enter the small intestine largely undigested. It happens when the small intestine expands too quickly due to contents from the stomach. Symptoms of early dumping include nausea, vomiting, bloating, cramping, diarrhea, dizziness, and fatigue. "Late" dumping happens one to three hours after eating. Symptoms of late dumping include weakness, sweating, and dizziness. The syndrome is most often associated with gastric bypass (Roux-en-Y) surgery. - From Wikipedia

    Fried food

I am 10 months out and gave up anything fried before surgery. That said, if you want a fry, I imagine you can eat one.
  9. Wonderful post. I applaud your journey and sharing.
  10. Congrats HoosierGirl! Keep that ass in 2013 and go into 2014 as lovely as you are.

    Off my meds!

Happy dance indeed! Congratulations. Amazing results so quickly.
  13. I am so proud of you and you should be too! This journey is full of those kinds of moments and what you chose was great. Sometimes, you may make a different choice and that is ok too because what you did tonight proves YOU CAN DO IT! Keep making good choices for yourself.
  14. That is normal. Like Arts as aid, the restriction is not really felt until your stomach heals a bit more and you begging eating solids. I started feeling my restriction around 6 weeks out.
  15. So glad this forum is back online. I've decided I need it to stay on top of myself. I was sleeved 02/04/2013. I am very close to goal and have lost quite a bit of weight, more than 130lbs. This final stretch is killing me! Glad have you guys back.

    Working out. When?

I was cleared for cardio 7 days post op which included walking, cycling, elliptical (what I chose). I just had to make sure I didn't engage my core too much. For strength training, I had to wait until 6 weeks post op.
  17. You look fantastic Jane! I am so glad you are doing well. Thank you for sharing progress pics. You look great!

    So excited

I think it makes sense to be a little nervous. Seeing someone you care about for the first time after losing a lot of weight is a big deal. You should be proud of yourself nevertheless and I imagine your mom will feel proud of you as well.

    200lbs to Lose Starting Tomorrow

You will do great. Follow the instructions and stick to your program. It is possible. You have a great support system and that will help. Exercise as often as you can. Yes, it is a lifestyle change but it is doable and you may even find that you prefer it. I know I did. I can't imaging eating the way I did previously and a blood pressure of 95/57 keeps me sticking with it. As does smaller clothes in fun new styles. I no longer desire the processed junk I used to eat and I feel very good and strong after working out, so that keeps me on task. Good luck to you.

    exercise motivation tips pretty please

Think of how hot and beautiful you will be come spring and summer 2014. I know it's not easy (esp. If you live in a snowy place) but if you have already developed some sort of fitness habit, you don't want to start all over in preparation of next season. Keep yourself ready through the Holiday's and when everyone else is scrambling to join a gym in January so they can get in shape, you will already be in shape. I find feeling strong and looking good is one hell of a motivator!
  24. I just joined! I have MS, dx in 2001, and I think it is a great idea.

MFP calories: Aim for goal or net?

I only pay attention to the calorie goal on MFP. I view net as cushion and a contributor to my calorie deficit and I need that for the lbs to keep coming of. I think of 'net' as a nice little bonus.
