Do you ever feel like the biggest one?
nsquared replied to CrystalW's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am taller, 5'7" but I started with a BMI > 40 at 274 lbs. I was sleeved in early February 2013 and as of this morning I weigh 143 lbs., which is 13 lbs. away from my goal of 130 lbs. You CAN do it. Follow your program, do the work, make the right choices, exercise as much as you can (within reason) and you will be fine. It is a complete lifestyle change but stay enthusiastic about the journey and you will be very happy along the way. -
Just putting it out there, so 'dirty' little secrets may see the light of day!
nsquared replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I never stopped drinking carbonated beverages. I drink La Croix sparkling Water every day. I pour it in a glass and it makes me feel like I am having an evening cocktail. I don't drink soda, but La Croix, daily. I still use Splenda in my coffee. I also use half & half in coffee without a modicum of guilt. I don't measure, I just pour until the coffee is the color I like. I eat a 'fun size' piece of chocolate once a week. While I don't do it often, I never stopped chewing gum. -
I don't drink hot chocolate but I start every morning with a cup of coffee and I have done this since I was 2 months post-op.

Congratulations! Good for you.

What a great read. I bookmarked it for days I need a little lift. Just this morning I noticed I have a tiny but wrinkly butt. This blogger's post makes me feel better about it.

Good for you! It is a nice feeling to say, "I'm full" while others are stilling chowing down. Enjoy the control.

If you are not allergic to seafood and enjoy eating it, try adding some. I eat grilled salmon and shrimp cocktail (with or without the cocktail sauce) a few times a week. I think it helps to vary the Protein source. chicken gets boring day after day. I also eat beef; steak, ground beef patties, roasts, etc. I do find beef is the protein source I eat the smallest amount of, but I do eat it when the mood strike me. Edamame is also a great high protein snack, as are pumpkin seeds. You can eats small amounts of these and keep your palate engaged.

I think it is matter of preference and cholesterol. The egg white contains about 3.6 grams or Protein. This is slightly more than 1/2 of the protein in a whole egg. That said, most of the nutritional value of the egg is found in the yolk. If you have high cholesterol, the yolk could be an issue. If your cholesterol is fine and you enjoy the yolk. Have at it! Calorie wise, I think the entire egg is about 80 calories and the whites are about 18 of those calories. I don't think an extra egg (whole or just whites) is likely to break your calorie bank.

14 months post op --- 143 pounds GONE! Pictures Included
nsquared replied to MsDallasSleever's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Just gorgeous! Congratulations to you. What a wonderful feeling and you are just beautiful. -
The three week stall is so common. I am sure there are threads on this forum and others devoted to nothing else. I did not have it (and I was expecting to), but based on what I have seen, I might be in the minority. Folks say to simply stay on track with your program and it will break. You are so early post-op it is not anything anything you did or didn't do. It is your body adjusting.

SCARED CRAPLESS IM GONNA LOSE SO SLOW ... I'LL FAIL!
nsquared replied to cpeycke's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Unfortunately, there is no way to know how quickly you will lose until you start. My recommendation is stay positive and work your program to the fullest. Once you are cleared for solid foods stick with protein first. Exercise regularly, once you are cleared to do so. The sleeve is a great tool and the program works but you have to follow it. Your body will catch up with your effort, whether it happens quickly or a little less so. Put less pressure on timing and focus on the journey. You will do great! -
100 poounds down in 6 months
nsquared replied to cabreralisa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just keep working your plan. The weight loss slows down some but you have made amazing progress. Don't backslide and you will be at goal before you know it! I know the feeling, I am in the same boat. 21lbs to go, but I have faith in my program and progress. You should as well...you've done great so far! We can do it! -

Anyone with VSG have MS?
nsquared replied to SuNMooNStaRS816's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I was dx with relapsing remitting MS in 2000. This surgery has improved my life in immeasurable ways! My neurologist was not a fan initially but did not think it would harm anything so I did it. I am so glad I did. Because I am lighter, working out is such a joy and I just like me more. -
