    Moving on from walking

I got on the elliptical 7 days post-op. My doc cleared me, but instructed me to hold the rails so I didn't engage my core too much and of course, to stop if I feel any pain. I was just fine and I've been grooving ever since!
  3. Love your top 10's Janet! Congratulations getting past you first month. It only gets better!
  4. Ah-maz-ING! Congratulations. You look great!

    Too Early...to experiment

Hang in there. The warm liquid suggestion is a good one. It will pass, but I understand the irritation.

    ?

The weight fluctuations are a greater risk for heart attack. Dropping weight rapidly can be ok if you maintain it because your heart figures out how to accommodate your smaller size and the muscle doesn't have to work as hard. It's the fat/skinny cycle we ask our hearts to accommodate that is the true problem.

    Stall

If you are not exercising, start. If you are exercising step up the intensity. If you do 3 days per week, try 4 days. If you only do cardio, add strength training. The diet is likely to remain high Protein, low carb...maybe you need leaner protein? Oh, and if you don't drink at least 64 oz. of Water per day, start. If you do get this much water per day, add a cup each day to see if you can hit 80 oz. eventually. Water plays an incredibly huge role in successful weight loss. Good luck!

    feeling fat?

You do look great but you have to feel comfortable about you.
  9. No catheter for me. I stayed in the hospital the evening of surgery and was discharged the following afternoon.
  10. If possible, it makes sense to continue exercising during that time.
  11. Oh I am so glad to hear you are doing well. I always worry when our members go under. Glad you're feeling and are perky!
  12. I only got liquids in the hospital. Didn't get purees until week 4.
  13. The honeymoon is the period of 6 - 8 months post-op. During this time, the weight practically just falls off your body. It is easy to understand why...you are still healing and on a liquid or purée diet for a while, then soft foods, then regular but you can barely eat more than 500 calories per day for many months. With such a significant calorie deficit daily, the pounds just fall off. After that period, you will continue to lose weight but you will have to actively engage in some effort to do so. This is why newly sleeved folks are encouraged to stick with their program and take full advantage of the honeymoon.

    Feeling rather proud

That is so cool! You are really going to enjoy your own fresh produce.

    Wls

No re-routing of internal plumbing. No malabsorption issues and no dumping syndrome.
  16. I have never heard that an I asked my surgeon questions pre-op that would have revealed that if he thought it was accurate.

Seriously, veterans, how long does hair loss last?

My hair fell out for a full 4.5 months. It had finally stopped and is growing back in. It sucks!
  18. It is way too early to freak. You had surgery a little over two months ago and it is unlikely you can eat anything in any quantity that will cause a permanent gain right now. Your weight fluctuates daily due to water, sodium, bloating, any number of things. Just stay on your program and all will be fine.

    My 600 lb life

I watched Melissa's story last week. What an inspiration! I was pleasantly surprised I enjoyed watching it.
  20. I had that problem early on as well and after some online research, I decided it was due to the high Protein, low carb diet. Apparently, that can cause temporary sleep problems. As my body became accustomed to my new way of eating, the problem waned. I no longer have problems getting to sleep but it lasted for about a month. That's my explanation for my problem based on the fact that nothing else had changed in my life at the time. Hope it helps you.

    Life is good NSV

    Good for you. Congratulations!
  22. I am sorry you are going through a tough time. I think you do have something to Celebrate though. Assuming you truly ate poorly for a month and a half, a small gain of 2.5 lbs. really isn't bad. While it has not happened to me, I imagine going back to the program basics; Protein first then veggies would be a good place to start over, coupled with some exercise. It can be done. You just have to decide to commit to it.
  23. I was pain free on day 4 post-op and I had a no more than 10lbs. lifting restriction until I was 6 weeks post op. Everyone is different, but I was able to resume my normal life by day 8 post-op.

    Popcorn!

Popcorn is a huge slider for m. I've only eaten it twice post-op because it is too easy to easy too much of it.
  25. Wow, your progression is amazing. Good for you!
