It appears Carnie had gastric bypass in 1999 and lost 150. Then had two pregnancies and regained much of the weight so in January 2012, she had lap band surgery. http://www.fudiet.co...e-right-choice/ I wish her the best on her journey.

Hiatal Hernia?
nsquared replied to DestinyIsWaiting's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on Feb 4th of 2013 and also had a fairly significantly sized hiatal hernia repaired during the surgery. I think it may have caused a minor bit of additional tightness but it really did not hinder my recovery at all. I took my narcotics for 3 days post op and went back to work and started my elliptical workouts the following week. For me, it was something the docs talked about but did not truly impact me at all. -
long Term Sleeve Results (+8 Years)
nsquared replied to fesenjoon's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow! That really is great information. Thank you sharing it. (nn) -
That is quite a bit to handle. I am very sorry you miscarried. Birth control is one of those weird random inexplicable things that apparently does it's own thing...we just hope 'that thing' is what we want it to do. I am glad you will be able to have you surgery as originally intended, but take care of yourself. Your feelings must be all over the place.

Anyone nauseous?
nsquared replied to MissTiffany203's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 weeks post op and today is the first day (except the first week post op) that I did not vomit or feel nauseous. I am hoping it is the beginning of me getting used to the limitations of my sleeve and better healing internally. -
Anyone Else Have Surgery Right Before Their Birthday?
nsquared replied to Babysteppin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I considered it a Birthday present to myself. I was sleeved 3 weeks ago on Feb 4th and my birthday was last Friday, Feb 22nd. I wasn't bummed at all. -
Contratulations to you! Great work.

Pepper tastes more bitter, sweets taste sweeter

Sweet items are definitely irritatingly sweet to me now. (nn) -

My doc saids NSAIDs are fine but must be taken with milk or some minor food such as crackers or small amount of yogurt. He said what they concerned about it ulcers...hence using milk to sort of coat the stomach.

Post Op Sleeve, now on TPN with PICC line.
nsquared replied to rhody's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
TPN = Total Parenteral Nutrition; i.e., ALL rhody's nutition, generally fluids, electrolytes, amino acids, etc. come through this source. The good news is that it is often a temporary measure because the maintainance of the line can be a complication. rhody, I hope your medical team is able to isolate your issue(s) soon. -
2nd day post-op PLS GOD HELP ME!
nsquared replied to newme31's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 16 days post op and didn't feel right until day 4. It does get better. Hang in there. -
I have been silently lurking around this forum for quite some time. Finally late last year, I decided it is time to act. I am scheduled to be sleeved next Wednesday, January 30th. I am nervous but optimistic. I am a 40 y/o female, 5 feet 7 inches and 274 lbs at weigh-in two weeks ago. At yesterday's physical, I was 264 lbs.I am hoping this surgery gives me the tools and a kick-start of sorts to get some control back into managing my weight. I may not post often, but all of your stories have truly inspired me and I am grateful to have found this site.

Is nausea and vomiting common?
nsquared replied to asweetypi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved Feb 4th and I have nausea and vomit every night after trying to eat dinner. It only happens after i eat dinner, so today I decided it might be related to the fact that I drink a lot of water during my workout, shower and then eat dinner. Maybe my stomach is still too full of water even though I think enough time has passed? Tomorrow, I am going to try eating dinner an hour later to see if that helps. Here's hoping it does. -
Desperate for protien
nsquared replied to Takingachance's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it is fairly common. I am 3 weeks post op and I can only get one 11oz container of EAS Myoplex Lite down in a day and that takes about 3 hours. I am finally able to add cottage cheese today and I am hoping those little snack packs will help me get more Protein in. One week post op, I could only get down 1/4 of the myoplex in a day so I do think it takes a little time. Hang in there! -
Is there any excersise you cant do ? Any excersise restrictions ?
nsquared replied to beachblondeee's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I was cleared for cardio 7 days post op so I do the elliptical every day. I have not been cleared for strength training though. Hopefully when I go back on March 5 that will happen. -
FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
nsquared replied to DivaNurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I followed the diet pretty closely, but I only had to do it for 1 week. The first part of the week was replacing 1 meal with protein shake and staying under 1200 calories. Then three days before surgery liquid only, that included protein shakes. Problem is, surgery got delayed by 4 days after I started the liquid only part...made the liquids a little lengthy, but it work out in the end. -
I started the elliptical 7 days post op with doc approval but I hold on for part of the workout so I don't disturb my core, which is still quite tender.

Working out within the first month of surgery...
nsquared replied to Butterflyjdjl's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I was given clearance to begin the elliptical and recumbent bike 7 days post op. I had surgery Monday and started the elliptical the following Monday. Basically doc said, no lifting, but I can do anything physically that does not cause me pain. I do hold on to the rails for some of the elliptical workout because I'm still healing and my core still hurts. I don't want to screw with that area. I'm an 'ants in the pants' kind of gal and I was grateful! -

I took Miralax 1st week postoperative. It was perfect, but I have not needed it since.
