    Flavorless protein

Unjury unflavored powder gets my vote. I use it a fair amount in cold liquids.

    When can we...

Great question! I was curious about that myself because I prefer hot food, hot, not luke warm or cold!

    Stomach sutures

I think each surgeon may have their own technique, but mine staples the remaining stomach and then sews over the staples to ensure closure. I hope that helps.
  6. All the best to you. Here's wishing you a successful surgery and speedy recovery. Soon you'll be rockin' the sleeve!
  7. Congratulations! Kudos to you.
  8. I was feeling that for weeks...and each meal was followed by everything coming back up. It is MUCH better now...within the past week or two. I have learned to stop eating at the right time, I think. It has been much better this week. Eat more slowly, chew like you never have before.

    Adolescence and Obesity

I am 7 weeks post op and just started getting that full feeling within the past week or two. Previously I always seemed to take one bite too many and everything came right back up. Fortunately, it's all tiny amounts of food but it was painful and maddening. My experience is that as I heal internally, the messages of satisfaction become much easier to read. Give it a couple weeks. In the meantime, just try to measure food in increments of about 2oz per meal to prevent the nastiness I went through.

when can I drink from a straw again.....

Some will say you will never be able to drink from a straw again. Some will say it is just fine. Much of that depends, I imagine, on the advice of docs and nuts. Personally, I was never straw restricted and I occasionally use one because it is easier for me to get the desired volume of water down with a straw.
  12. I told my parents and one trusted co-worker. Everyone else I am giving the diet and exercise story. None of their business, IMO and I don't need any comments from the peanut gallery.
  13. 7.5 weeks out and I can still only eat 2oz at a time depending what it is. No more than 3oz ever or it comes back up for me.
  14. Very interesting. I would love to know about this research. Thanks for posting the articles.
  15. I weigh every Sunday morning after waking up and going potty.

    Scared of Pain!

I was feeling relatively pain free by day 4 post op. No pain, just some pressure and soreness. I have a fairly high pain threshold, but worst case, you should be relatively fine within a week. You may still be sore, but no tears!
  19. Congratulations! That is amazing and a huge thing to get used to. Good for you.
  20. You look great and U are SO WORTH IT! congrats!

    Tough times

Eating enough. 7 wks out I am still probably only getting less than 300 calories per day. It's really hard.

Exercise when not getting in fluids?

I started exercising 1 week post op in Feb this year. You can drink water while exercising, but you won't be able to gulp. I still can't gulp or guzzle 7 weeks out, but I can get in about 2 oz of water at a time while doing my cardio. Good luck!
