  1. Not sure, but I think the serving size was 6... Had my nutritionist look at them and she said they were fine if I wanted to have to take that many

    cpap machine

That's a good idea- my doctor told me to call him if I felt to much air or pressure. He was very concerned about that. My machine automatically regulates itself to the pressure I need- or at least it is supposed to.

    cpap machine

I agree- had surgery in March. The doctor wants to wait until August and have another sleep test. I doubt I will get off- I have always had breathing issues at nigh, even when I was younger and thinner. I am 66 and a widow so no one has to see me wear it........at least for now LOL.

    cpap machine

I have had no issues caused b my C Pap machine at all. Not sure how it could stretch your sleeve, but maybe you should contact your surgeon.

    Anyone feel amazing post op?

I had a very easy recovery. I thought I would be the one who: had to stop the surgery because my liver was too big; had to be incubated after surgery because of high carbon dioxide levels; would wake up throwing up; would have to stay extra days because of problems; would not lose weight. Well, I had none of that. I had literally no pain, no nausea, I was giddy just to have it done and be on my way! I was sleeved March 11 and have lost 41 lbs, 60 since My first consult at the end of November. I am 66so I worried I was too old to lose, but things are going well. I had a stall at 3 weeks but just kept moving along with my water and protein. I would do this again in a heartbeat. Good Luck!

    Unapologetic Brag Post

Laura, you brought me out of my lurker position! Loved the Unicorn but now I feel like you are back!
  8. Another Michigander reporting in. Glad your experience has been good. I was sleeved at Henry Ford in Detroit in March and I have to boast that my experience has been excellent as well. Never had pain or nausea. I am down 61 lbs since my first consultation in late Nov and 44 since surgery. Made it to One-derland last week!

    Protein Shake = Diarrhea

I also had diahrea every time I drank protein. I tried every protein I could find. I bought chewable fiber and my dr said it was fine. I helped. I am 2 mos out and am back to normal. I could hardly leave the house so I drank all my protein drinks in the morning and by 1:00 I was okay. I feel your misery!
  10. I have been very open about my surgery. I am beginning to hold back now, 7 weeks later. I see disappointment when someone asks 'how much more weight have you lost?' And I have to say I haven't lost any this week but I am losing inches and blah blah blah. Right now I would rather not have it the major topic in all my conversations.

    Protein Shake Blues :(

I make an Iced Mocha with 1 scoop of protein powder (chocolate), a cup of decaf coffee, about 1/4 cup milk or FF half and half and a squirt of sugar free choc syrup. I make the coffee and put it in the freezer for about 20 minutes. I blend it up after the coffee is cooled and pour it over ice or sometimes I put ice in the blender. I drink it every morning. I am 7 weeks post op.

    Forum Social Groups

There are various Facebook groups that are formed . For instance I am in one for other March Sleevers. It is 'private' because some people don't want to broadcast they have had WLS.

    Weight gain

It is up to me to make this work. I have a friend who had a bypass several yrs ago and couldn't figure out why she was gaining weight back. She kept saying 'but I can't eat that much'. We would go to lunch and both would order a cheeseburger. I would get fries. I ate my burger and most of the fries (this is before my surgery) and she would eat half of her burger and just a couple of fries. She would get a to go bag and then mid- afternoon she would eat the rest of her burger and any leftover fries. She ended up eating almost the same thing I did. You will gain weight if you eat too many calories- the sleeve will limit how much you can eat at one sitting, but grazing is very easy and a habit I don't want to get into.

    Are u big enough?

I have never said it, but I did think of it during group consultations. I do think it is because of height and how different people carry their weight. I would never say it to anyone - no one is going to have this surgery or be approved if they didn't need it. But, I don't think anyone means to be rude- they are just envious and curious. Bottom line- it's no ones business but yours.
  16. Not a "slow" loser but had a 2 week stall at 4 weeks. Surgery date: 3/11/13 Wl since surgery: 29 lbs BMI: 48 Height: 5' Age: 66 Exercise: walking brisk pace .5 to 1 mile 6 days a week Take all supplements including Actigall, Vit D, B12, Omaprazole, and Calcium

    The beloved "Food Funeral".

I have been very faithful to my doctors instructions both pre op and post op. now 6 weeks post op. However, three weeks before my 1 week pre op I picked three things I wanted before surgery and had one each week. That worked for me - if I had to start again, I would maybe pick 6 and do 2 per week but in the end, I hardly remember having any of them. One was a hot fudge sundae, one was home made French fries, and the third was Fish and Chips - it was the last time I will have any of those for a long time if ever- at least in a large serving.

    2 days till surgery!

I didn't have to do a bowel prep either. With a clear liquid diet for 7 days there wasn't much to worry about.

Am i going to lose more?

I have only been stalled for two days so I am not complaining....yet. I was sleeved on 3/11 and lost 25 lbs since then...But, I was looking at MyFitnessPal and noticed I am very high in fat- from Pita chips and eggs. So no more of the chips and limiting eggs to egg whites only. I tell myself I am only eating four chips with my hummus, but it's too much fat. Logging what I eat has really helped me!!
