two year surgiversary
futureloser replied to wildcatteacherlady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats! You look great and I know you must feel great as well! -
I wanted to be at 165 by Monday and I am at 178. I am still happy. Almost 80 lbs down- surgery was 3/11.

You will find many on this site with similar issues (PCOS, thyroid, etc) and have had a successful experience with their sleeve. Search under PCOS or Pregnant for success stories. You can quit smoking- it will help you get through the surgery safely and helps with healing. Many of us were on different types of pre-op diets to shrink our liver. Follow your surgeons rules, jump through the hoops and get to a healthier life. You will find a great deal of support here. Good Luck!!

I don't know about you, but for the 4 months prior to surgery I was "all about me". I hope I was not inconsiderate to my friends, but maybe they thought I was. And if she is having her own issues, she may not want to be with someone who is happy and excited about the good things that are happening to you. When you talk to her, maybe try to keep the conversation about her and hopefully she will come around and be a good support for you as we'll.

Tips for Post-op Energy during recovery?

I though you were 6 wks out- misread something. At 2 weeks, you are very much healing! Take it a day at a time! -
Tips for Post-op Energy during recovery?

Are you taking B12? At 6 weeks I was feeling good but everyone is different. Contact your doc to see if you need to have some lab work done. Or enjoy your husband getting your 'to do' list done! -

Mourning the loss of my post-op taste buds
futureloser replied to sarsar's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I am mourning my early weeks of not being hungry. I will be 5 mos tomorrow but I think I have the stomach of a 6-8 month post op person. I have found myself starting to graze and eat again 2 hrs after a meal. Up until now I had to push myself to eat because i really wasnt hungry at all and then my restriction really kicked in when i did eat. I am back to reality where I have to watch myself or I will be eating around the restriction and stop my weight loss! -
Start of new chapter in my life!

I am 66, had my surgery on March 11 and I am also one of those with no pain,no nausea, increased energy and a 75 lb weight loss so far. I am off insulin, my oxygen level has gone from 80 to 98%. -
We have all had the same fears and worries. That's why the vets here encourage everyone to research, research, research. Some people have complications including death. Some, like me, had no issues whatsoever. Any surgery has risks, in fact just going outside or driving your car is a risk, but we have faith that we know the dangers and we are prepared. Have faith in your surgical team, follow their recommendations and you should be fine but there are no guarantees. I also thought about writing letters but I never did. Do what you feel you want to do about that. I wish you all a happy and healthy journey!!!

Keep the faith! Everything happens for a reason. Better to have it taken care of now and not cause complications later.

Sleevers by profession.
futureloser replied to BWaltD's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am no longer defined by my profession or my marital status - kind of weird when I thought about it. I am retired and a widow, but was married for 39 years and worked for a federally funded preschool program for 34 years. I am enjoying the wide range of backgrounds we all have. -
Hours away, but why
futureloser replied to muneca1029's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Very normal to be apprehensive, scared, excited. You have done your research and you know this is going to lead you to a healthy future. Believe in your surgeon and team and start your ride!!! Good luck!! -
When I had my blood tests done pre-surgery the surgeon mentioned para thyroid was something he'd look at after surgery. He started me on 50,000 Vitamin D once a week. Surgery done and 3 month blood tests showed no issues with parathyroid. I am still on Vitamin D once a week at 5 months post op.
