    Sex

I asked this question in support group when we were able to present questions written down. The coordinator answered the quesiton to the class. She stated if a woman then to be in a position with no weight on the abdomen. If a man then whenever it was comfortable. She said there is no specific time for anyone just when you are comfortable and may have to be creative in positions.
  3. I was told pre-operatively by my NUT and the bariatric coordinator that by eating 60-80 grams protein per day will help me to lose the pre-op weight required to decrease fat from my liver. She said muscle burns more calories then fat so to increase my protein would help me to decrease my fat (I have alot to go so surgery is in my near future) and to build muscle. I was also told by getting the appropriate amount of proteins in post-operatively would help to make my body leaner. I look forward to being on the losing side, maybe in April.

    Heading to the hospital

Hope all went well with your surgery! Look forward to updates.
  6. I understand completely where you are coming from. I have to lose 15 pounds prior to my surgery. I weighed this morning and am 4 pounds within the goal. I was thinking what if my appt is in the afternoon for my pre-op when surgery is scheduled. I weighed this afternoon and weight 3 pounds more. I know our weight fluctates throughout the day. I know I need a morning appt for my pre-op (hahahaha). I have been doing premium protein for breakfast and lunch then a small healthy supper. I have been losing about 2 pounds per week. So slow coming off compared to what I am putting in my mouth. I have been eating my 70-80 grams protein per day and not cheating. I still am having a hard time. I received a call to advise my information is being sent to insurance. She asked if I had lost the 15 pounds yet (only been 4 weeks since my weigh in). I told her if I weigh in the a.m. I am about 3-4 pounds away. She told me even if I am 1 pound away then I must do the liquid diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery. I will keep trucking along to lose those additional pounds. I have set myself a goal to lose 19 pounds so I have so room in case I weigh in the afternoon.
  7. I understand your concern. I too would be so stressed. I was told my chart is now with the insurance person at the MD office. She has a "stack" of charts she is working through doing pre-certs. My surgery won't be set up until they have the surgery pre-cert completed. I am now worring what if my insurance declines my surgery. I have met all their requirements. I can relate!!!

APRIL 2013. Whooo's Comin' With Me!

My information has been sent to my insurance this week. Hopefully my insurance will respond within the next 1-2 weeks. I have completed everything and ready for surgery. Except losing those last 4 pounds required prior to surgery (still working on it). I believe my surgery will be sometime in April, probably after April 15 due to I have to go out of town for 4 days in April and can't travel for 4 weeks after surgery. I am not freaking out quite yet. Most likely will after I have a surgery date.
  9. Awesome video! Thank you for the inspiration.
  10. Awesome video! Thank you for the inspiration.
  11. I will order my powders and stop the Pure Protein. I have severe asthma as well as severe shellfish allergy. I am now concerned my recent increase with wheezing and shortness of breath instead of weather reactive could be due to the protein drink I have as meal replacement. I read on everything due to a reaction I had to a medication that had edible ink (squid ink). I contacted the manufacture and they stated it was such a small amount they were not concerned to list "if allergic to fish or shellfish do not use". I keep an epipen with me every where I go. Thanks for making your post!!!!!"
  12. I never thought about the protein powders being processed on equipment that also had shellfish exposure. I too have severe seafood allergy to the point of an unknowing exposure has sent me to the emergency room. I will also begin researching. I have been drinking pure protein drink from Walmart with no problem so far.
  13. I have now met all requirements. Received call today after MD signs off on my chart then everything will be submitted to insurance. Prior to meeting my surgeon in January I had lost 9 pounds due to being sick. I was instructed I must lose 15 pounds prior to surgery if not lost then have to do liquids for 2 weeks. I have 10 more pounds to lose and seemed to have stalled. I have been alternating my exercise and concerned I have built muscle due to my clothes fit very loose. Not sure when surgery yet. I am close no so if not March then April.
  14. This is great! I look forward to joining you on the losing side soon!

    Liver shrink ?

I was told the weight loss was to loose fat off the liver. If the liver was too fatty then he would have to perform the large incision to be able to see the stomach better. Good luck
  16. I have been an RN for 14 years. Initially working med/surgical floor, then with a neurosurgeon as his nurse, was offered an opportunity to work as a field case manager for 5 years. I am now working as a nurse case manager for a company telephonically. I solely work from home with a rare field appointment. The benefit is when I have my sleeve I can hopefully only miss a few days of work. I had pneumonia for 6 weeks last year with no time lost from work. My computer can go anywhere as well as the work blackberry. (some good and bad working at home). I have met my insurance requirements for the weight loss program with my PCP. I am now completing the required classes with my one time required support group meeting on 2/7/13. I have the psych visit on 2/13/13 then my MD will submit to my insurance. I have spoken several times with my insurance and have been told it does cover WLS. My MD has also spoken with the insurance to confirm their requirements. Am I nervous, yes very. When I went to my first class, I thought what am I doing to myself. Then I looked in the mirror and saw the obesity issues I have been dealing with for years. I too have been battling obesity my entire life, yo yo dieting. When phenphen was out oh boy did I drop the weight and thought this is the answer. Then the cardiac issues were identified in many people so phenphen was no more then my weight ballooned. In 2004, Atkins was the tool used losing down to the 185, boy was I thinking this was it for me if I could just reach a goal. Tragedy hit in my life and the Atkins when out like all the rest for me. Good luck to everyone and I really look forward to this group. Would love to hear from some of the "seasoned sleevers" out their with their success stories and tips.
  17. Congratulations to everyone! I am currently attending the required classes prior to submitting for insurance approval. The goal is for the information to be submitted after 2/13/13 for insurance approval. Once this is complete then hopefully I will have a surgery date. I will be thinking of a name due to that is so creative!!!!!!
