I can't wait to hit 100lbs, I can feel the joy you have today and I hope you have many more days like this as you hit all you goals/milestones! Keep it going!

    Foods you cant have again

I think there are the not supposed to have (carbonated bevs) items, and then the things we should choose not to have because they are foods that will get in the way of our weight loss and what probably caused us to become obese to begin with (pizza, pasta, wings, meat with skin like hot dogs, brats, sausages, high sugar foods, etc) I still indulge in a bite or two every once in a while, but, I get the full feeling so quick, I have never felt guilty for the few bites. Nothing bothers my stomach except steak, it just makes me really nauseous so I avoid all red meat now altogether. Bread isn't the easiest to digest either but I really dont eat sandwiches any more so its not a big deal. I was not a big popcorn person before, but I have had a handful or two since surgery 7 months ago and had no problem. I have grapes all the time, also no problem. The best advise I have is to manage your protein, always always always eat protein first. You will fill up fast and not feel the urge nor have a desire to eat the "bad" stuff anyways. I'm still losing 7 months out, down to 198 from 287. Weight loss has stalled a little, but I do admit I luvs the beer so now that summer is winding down and I won't be indulging after my kids baseball games on a hot summer night with a cold beer or four, I hope the weight loss will kick back up to 2 lbs a week again. Good luck!

    best decision ever.... down 85lbs.

best decision ever is right! Congrats to you! I feel the same and you and I have very similar goals! My VSG was on 1/22. My heaviest on January 8th (the day I found out I was having surgery 13 days later) was 287 LBS. Day of surgery I was 271. Today I am 221. Total wl is exactly 1/2 way to go! I am so glad I decided to have the surgery, it has changed my life. Keep up the awesome momentum and good luck on the 2nd half of your journey!
  6. you have to eat to lose weight! If you undereat, your body will hold onto the fat, you are starving it, and it wont let it go! I upped my calories after a 3 week stall, and dropped 3 LBS that week! I'm averaging between 1,100 and 1,300 every day and am losing 1.2-3 lbs per week. Eat your protein, drink your water, exercize at least 3-4 times per week, you will lose! It's all math.
  7. oh yes, I had very similiar pain around my large incision-I think it is very normal. My "main" incision hurt for weeks, even after all the other one's were totally healed. It felt like the skin and the organ were sow together at times! Just take it really slow!

    First Before and After photos

day of surgery and 16 weeks after
  9. hi guys. I am frustrated. How many calories per day is everyone netting in order to achieve 1 LB-2LB per week weight loss? I cant figure this out for the life of me and It's starting to really depress me. I use myfitnesspal religiously. I have it set at 1,100 calories per day. I exercize and win another 200-450 per day depending on the workout and the length of time I exercize. Anyhow, I have no trouble eating 1,100, also no trouble getting in 70-90 grams of protein. So why am I not losing weight? too many calories? too little? what gives? Preop diet weight was 286 LBS, I had my sleeve on 2/22. I was 271 on surgery day which was 13 days later. Today I am 228 LBS. I realize that I have made HUGE weight loss, 60 LBS is nothing to be sad about, it's only been 15 weeks, but this recent stall is really hard to push through. I have been up and down from 231-228 for 3 weeks now. Trying to press through this and hit my initial goal of being at 220 LBS by my birthday which is June 10th. At this pace I will be there by the end of summer not in 6 weeks.

    Pain after surgery

I have 4 kids, all young, oldest 11 and youngest is 6 so I totally relate to your concerns. I will tell you I had 1 vaginal delivery and 3 sections so I thought I was an expert in pain management-this pain was far worse than I ever expected. Do not under estimate the help you will need at least for the first few days home. Plan on having rides ahead of time for the kids to all activities. If possible have someone come over to do laundry and grocery shop for the kids meals. Also, a few days before surgery stock up on broth and protein shakes and get your pain meds before you leave! The gas pain in my shoulder was almost unbearable and the nausea was horrific for days. You'll be weak and want to sleep a lot so try and find a way to have some support in place, it really is a big deal, you will need help. Good luck!
  11. I will be 5 weeks tomorrow, started reintroducing solid food over the weekend. Here's what I've learned-you have to separate the food if you want an accurate measurement of protein. So, we took kids to lunch at Hard Rock Cafe yesterday, I ordered the chicken club sandwich on whole wheat bun. Took off the bacon (just cuz it's a high fat protein and I won't go back there for a while) took off the lettuce and the top of the bun. Had 3 small bites and was STUFFED. Also subbed the fries for green beans. Waited for 5 minutes after I felt like I couldn't eat another bite, and had 2 bites of the beans and I was really done at this point! Moral of the story, counted 250 calories, maybe got in a whopping 10 grams of protein, not going to cut it if all my meals go like that.

    Pain 10 days post op

    Sugery This Moning

I had my 4 wk post pop today, it the 1st week I can say I was pain free. It takes a full week for the dry mouth, gas pains and exhaustion to subside. Maybe another full week until no more muscle pain in the abdomen. Third week you'll start feeling better, but will still have low energy. Just focus on managing through the pain for today/tonight. Get up and walk the halls! You have to move to get the gas out.

    weight loss stalled

I'm 4 weeks today. I had major stall week 3, didn't lose a single pound! Soooo frustrating because my calories per day is usually under 600! It looks like I will lose 2-3 lbs this week so in guess my body is just trying to recover from the shock of what happened!
