Exciting! What a great present to give to yourself this year! Congrats and best wishes for a speedy recovery! -
Couldn't see all the fat before and can't see that so much of it is gone
Lorie269 replied to onsummit's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It does take a while for our heads to catch up with our bodies. 84 lbs is seriously a lot of weight and there is no way that it is not noticable but I get it. It took until I hit about 70 lbs lost before people really started commenting on the loss so I kept thinking that it wasn't noticable. It wasn't until I bit the bullet and took some new pictures to compare that I saw the change. Congrats on the great loss so far! -
You should feel amazing because you look amazing!!! Congratulations!

I have an office job and could have gone back to work in a week or so. I chose to take off 3 weeks but I was definitely restless and eager to go back after 2. Recovery is different for eveyone but I think you should be fine.

July VSGers... How's it going?
Lorie269 replied to TheNickelMax's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi July Sleevers! I was sleeved on July 26th and have lost 70 lbs since surgery. Total of 91 lbs since my pre-op diet. I am very happy with my loss but I have noticed in the last month, it has started to slow down. I'm sure the last 28 pounds will take me just as long if not longer to lose than the first 70. That's perfectly ok with me though! -
I hate shopping for jeans more than anything. I can range anywhere from a 12 to a 16 right now. I hate that my hubby can just walk into a store, grab a pair in his size and they magically fit like a glove. Not all jeans are created equal. It is trial and error for sure. I have been finding lots of great deals on jeans at consignment shops and even Goodwill.

Best wishes for a smooth surgery and recovery!

Congrats of getting through all of your pre-op requirements. My approval took less than a week but it was the longest week of my life! LOL What a great way to start out 2014. And just think of where you'll be ringing in 2015 in a year's time. Good luck!

Today was the first day my weight was down! :)
Lorie269 replied to SuzanneB's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations on your surgery. Most people leave the hospital with few pounds of Water weight from all of the IV fluids they pump into you. I didn't weigh myself right away because I knew this and didn't want to be discouraged. But, when I did a week or so later, I was down 8 lbs and then dropped another 5 in the next couple of days. It is pretty common and you seem to be on the right track. Good luck! -
Here's my tree. Happy Holidays to everyone!

Did anyone NOT lose their hair after surgery?
Lorie269 replied to Anothercasey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish I could tell you that I haven't lost any hair but unfortunately, I have and continue to do so. It started in month 3 and two months later, it still comes out in clumps. I think I am going to bite the bullet and chop it off into a nice shorter style. I hope that it works out for you. My best advice is to make sure you are getting your Protein and fluids in each day. Biotin may help with regrowth but it certainly does not keep it from falling out. -
My new life begins in 36 hours!
Lorie269 replied to Lainey3074's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck on your surgery! We have pretty much the same stats. My highest weight was 269 and I went into surgery at 248. I, unfortunately, could not fit into most rides at amusement parks. It broke my heart to go to these places year after year and have to wait on the sidelines for my family while they rode. I cannot wait until Cedar Point opens for the season in May because I will be there getting my coaster fix. Wishing you a speedy recovery! -
Big Day, Anxiety I can't drink to relax!
Lorie269 replied to rhondafranklin03's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was very nervous until I walked into the hospital. At that point, a sense of calm came over me. I knew without a doubt that I was doing the best thing for my health and I just put all of my trust into my surgical team. It will be over before you know it. Good luck today and congrats! -

I did not have a pre-op diet either. Just liquids the day before and nothing after midnight. That part was tough because my surgery was supposed to be at 1:30pm but I didn't get taken in to about 4:30pm. I did, however, start changing my bad habits and sticking to high protein, low carb in the months before surgery. I managed to lose 21 lbs from my first consult to my surgery day.

Pear shaped succes. Is it possible?
Lorie269 replied to CrazyJaney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also pear shaped. I had a "shelf" butt that was my worst feature. I was so sure that I would lose all of my weight and still have my shelf. To my delight, it was one of the first places I lost weight. I am ecstatic that I can wear clothes that do not camouflage my tush area. I also have larger legs and I notice they are going down as I lose but it is also where I have the most hanging skin. I definitely see plastic surgery in my future. Overall, very happy with the way my body is losing. I will still have my curves and I am great with that. -

I wanted to update my post from yesterday. I hit a BMI of under 30 this morning! I went from morbidly obese to just plain overweight in almost 5 months! When I saw that number on the scale, it confirmed how totally worth it the surgery was. -

Lorie269 replied to love to be at goal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are some days that I have brief thoughts of "why did I do this again?". But then I look in the mirror or step on the scale and reality hits that I have come so far in just 5 months. It is one of the hardest things I have ever done but totally worth it! Just think of where you will be one year from next Monday. Good luck!
