144 this morning. That's 1 lb from last week. Sad, because I actually saw 142 on Saturday. -
Happy to hear your story. Thanks for the inspiration and congrats on the continued success!

Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Lorie269 replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would run, not walk, far away from that surgeon. In my experience (3 yrs post-op) he is absolutely incorrect in his assessment that ALL bariatric surgeries fail within 2 years. However, he may be speaking the truth regarding his patients. If that's the case, why would you want him doing your surgery. I would not want someone with a 100% failure rate (I wonder what his idea of failure is) touching me with a 10-foot pole.Do some research and find a bariatric surgeon with a high success rate and follow the pre-op and post-op rules. You are the captain of your ship--no one else. If you go into this thinking you will inevitably fail, you will. I had surgery July 26, 2013. I started at 269 and met my goal of 135 on May 19, 2014. I have been maintaining between 135-140 for 2 years. My sleeve still works if I put the work into it. It is not a magic wand, just a tool. Good luck to you, Lorie -

Did anyone NOT have a miserable recovery?
Lorie269 replied to ella37's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Nothing to do with OP, but it's good to see a fellow 'Burgher on the boards. I had my surgery at Magee in 2013. Hope all is well. Lorie -
Surgery Date: July 26, 2013 Highest Weight (that I know): 269 Goal Weight: 135 (hit that 5/19/14) Current Weight: Hovering around 140 and trying to get my head back in the game to lose the 5 lbs of regain. I am 5'5.25 (yes, I count the 0.25! LOL)

So glad to see some activity on the "Burgh Board"! I hope everyone is doing well and will continue to update this thread. I am officially 3 years out and dealing with about 5lbs of regain. I will always be a work in progress. -
Hi everyone! I saw the title of the post and thought I'd stop in and say hello and good luck. I am a July 26er, but from 2013 so I will be celebrating my 3 yr. surgiversary when you all are starting yours. Here's to a quick recovery for all of you! Lorie269

What’s the Most Awkward Part of WLS?
Lorie269 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This happened to me all the time. I guess I never looked my weight or carried it well, but, I could not fit into any ride either. If 130lbs overweight isn't "that big", what is??? LOL! -
July sleevers please check in..
Lorie269 replied to shannyd4's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So July 2013 sleevers, it has been 3 years since we had surgery and I thought I would resurrect this thread to see how everyone has been doing. I will start. I got to goal about 10 months after surgery in May 2014. I started at 269 and I lost half of my body weight and hit 134.5 that month. I have been maintaining between 130-140 for the past 2 years. Boy is it tough. The head stuff is way harder now than it was in the losing phase. I have to work on this every single day and I suspect that I will for the rest of my life. I am determined to stay mindful and aware of what I eat in order to stay within my desired weight range. I still come to this site for support and I believe that it has truly helped me keep regain from happening. Your turn. Let's Celebrate our successes and give support if needed. Lorie SD: 7/26/13 -
Veterans ONLY please. One year + post op.
Lorie269 replied to LipstickLady's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I don't post a lot but I am on the boards most days. I would be open to either a new Vets forum or limiting and enforcing the posting requirements. I usually only go to the Vets forum anyway being 3 years post-op. -
I have to agree with you. I had my surgery in 2013 at a Center of Excellence and although they did a fairly good job at educating us patients, I learned so much more from these boards. I was also on when it was just Vertical Sleeve Talk. I also think that not everyone really pays attention or chooses to retain as much information and research as possible. I was always surprised at my monthly pre-op weigh-ins that people where coming in with bags of fast food and junk food right before they were about to be held accountable that month. It was shocking. I was a sponge for my six month waiting period and I soaked up everything that I could. And a lot of that came from this website. I lost all of my excess weight in 10 months and have maintained at my goal weight for 2 years. I did all the hard work, but I owe some of the credit to the veterans on here that unselfishly choose to stick around and spread the knowledge and tips.

Weird s**t your body does (or "I know I ate too much, I need to sneeze.."
Lorie269 replied to KindaFamiliar's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Thanks for the tip. I am on hypothyroid meds and have been since before surgery but on a pretty low dose. I will talk to my doc about it. -

I am also ALWAYS cold and I get a ton of leg cramps. I never got them before surgery. I am almost 3 years post op. I just try to make sure I get enough potassium and magnesium. -
Share BariatricPal!
Lorie269 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thank you! You'd be surprised how many WLS professionals and patients have never heard about us. We definitely need to do a better job at publicizing our existence. That's one of the reasons we've started attending events like YourWeightMatters, WLSFA and ObesityWeek. When I mentioned this site at my surgeon's office, they scoffed and told me not to believe everything I read online. I just smiled and nodded and continue 3 years later to log on and soak up all I can almost daily. This site has been a lifeline for many of us and I know that I would not have been able to be as successful as I have without it. Thanks a million times for your dedication to the WLS community. -
Who do you want to be after?
Lorie269 replied to Nurse_Lenora's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
this ^^^^ I have just as much of a problem finding clothes in a small (or XS) as I did in a 3X. Doesn't seem fair! -
Yes I am...well, West Mifflin actually. I had my VSG surgery in July 2013 at Magee in Oakland. Glad to see another Yinzer (lol) around here.

Do your vitamins make you nauseous?
Lorie269 replied to skinnyrita's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Any multivitamin that I take in pill form makes me nauseous. I thought it was the iron but even ones without it make me ill. I take Vitafusion gummies and supplement with iron and B-12. This is the only solution that works for me and 2 years out, my labs are good. Good luck!
