Sneezing everytime I eat food?
Tim H. replied to megansmommy123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've started sneezing after surgery a lot, but it's not really related to my eating. It just happens at random times. When I first wake up in the morning, when I'm driving down the road, etc. In fact, I've been sneezing all morning and I haven't had anything to eat yet. I just assumed I'm developing some sort of allergies, but perhaps it's surgery related? -
Mooregirl, I'm not sure. I hope they would.

I got a new driver's license today. It's crazy how different I look. -
Hmm. I might try swinging by Walgreens today to pick up a sample. Thanks for the heads-up. I don't really count carbs, although I understand why some of you do.

Vets: Calling all consistent loggers on MFP!
Tim H. replied to Sassafras's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Not quite as far out as some of you, but feel free to add me if you want. My user name is timh_ok. I was sleeved on March 18th of this year. Today marks my 90th day in a row of logging. I'm especially interested in seeing what some of the other guys around here are eating, but ladies feel free to add me too. -
Any March Sleevers?

Yes. It's a private page. -
Hey everybody. I just wanted to let you know that I was in my Walgreen's today and they had several different brands of protein bars on sale 5 for $5.00, including the Zone Perfect bars. I don't remember the other brands.

I'm going to make a pot roast in the slow cooker today and try to freeze individual portions for easy heat-and-eat meals. Hope it works!

Protein bars- helpful or harmful?
Tim H. replied to Reigo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't count carbs, so if I can fit in a yummy protein bar and still be under my calorie goal for the day, I don't feel guilty about doing it. I understand why others might want to avoid them. But my doctor didn't put any restrictions on them. Ultimately you need to find what works for you. I had a huge sweet tooth before surgery, so protein bars help me satisfy that craving without turning to a much worse choice. -
I've been happy with the Zone Perfect bars I've tried. I've had the Strawberry Yogurt and Cinnamon Roll flavors. Both work great for me as a breakfast on the go.

Teachers Supporting Sleeved Teachers

I'm also a teacher. I spent 10 years at the high school level teaching English, last year as a 1st-4th grade librarian, and this year I'll be moving to our 7th and 8th grade building as a librarian. I was sleeved this year on the Monday of my spring break (March 18th.) I took two additional weeks off, although I think one off would have been plenty. -

Protein bars- helpful or harmful?

I have a protein bar for breakfast several times a week. I haven't noticed that they've slowed my weight loss at all. My doctor never recommended for me to count carbs, so I don't. In the future, if my weight loss slows or stalls, I may re-think this approach -
I often don't have time to prepare meals, so something quick and easy is what I'm looking for. Do any of you have suggestions for food that I can prepare in advance and freeze? Something that would be easy to divide into individual portions to be microwaved later? Of course, it would be nice if it were high in protein and low in calories.

Hi from Oklahoma. I'll be visiting southwestern Missouri in a couple weeks to do some trout fishing. I'm thankful I'll be 100 pounds lighter this year than last October when I was there.
-
Hey This is happening to me too. Just as you described. I've never had allergies before, so I don't know what's going on.

Linda, some of those sound really good

I've only had Chinese once since surgery. I got sick and vomited shortly after, so I haven't tried it again. I do sometimes buy frozen Chinese egg rolls and microwave them. I only eat the filling. It's pretty high in protein and low in calories and it satisfies my Chinese cravings.

Obesity's 'Disease' Status May Spur Surgeries, Drug Research
Tim H. posted a topic in Insurance & Financing
http://www.cnbc.com/id/100829102 This is an interesting article. The way insurance companies look at obesity may be changing. Do yourself a favor and skip the comments below the article. They sting pretty bad. -

My insurance company wouldn't pay for my surgery either, so I chose to self pay in Mexico. With this change in classification, though, I bet most insurance companies will start covering it. -
I'm from Oklahoma, but I have state insurance (Health Choice) and they wouldn't cover my surgery, so I went to Mexico in March and had my surgery with Dr. Garcia for $5,200. I'm three months out, and so far, everything's great.
