  1. Hey ks folks. Dr Kowalski won't be doing surgeries for not sure how long. Some kind of emergency pulled him from the office yesterday and my case manager emailed me today. So decision time again. I have to pick Hamilton or Hoehn. Any one have anything bad to say about either?

Offically got my insurance approval and the OK to schedule my egd and surgery.....Now just waiting to hear from the hospital/insurance co about what my out of pocket costs will be. I've heard everything from 2,000-7,000. If it's over 4,000 I will probably head to TJ.
  3. My surgeons office has a clothes closet where you can donate the stuff that no longer fits and take some smaller size items. I think it's awesome to have that option
  4. I know this is an older post - but I too have a daughter with Asperger's. She's 7. I also have a 3 year old boy who is speech delayed and a runner and possibly being screened himself soon. So definitely need to get healthier to be around for them both!

I'm hoping to have a June date . I have had my first surgeon appt, see the nut tomorrow, have to schedule my egd, psych, post op class and get approved by insurance.... Doc said end of may beginning of June. I want to wait until my kids are out of school so I don't have to get up and rush with them in the mornings post op lol.
  9. Hi all! I'm an RN also. I was an LPN for a couple years and did nursing home and a peds office. Went back and got my RN and did ICU for 7 years and a short stretch of home health. I even did travel nursing for 3 assignments. Got to live/work/play in LA, San Diego, and New Orleans. I became a stay at home mom though while pg with our 7 year old daughter. Worst pregnancy ever . Hyperemesis gravidum until mid 2nd trimester finally got to work a few shifts before pre e set in and doc said no stress pfft I was an icu and trauma nurse . So I quit. Now have two kids and our daughter has Aspergers so it's easier for now if I don't work. Anyhow. I was actually a skinny Minnie through high school. Graduated weighing 105 fully clothed - then it slowly started creeping up until I hit 200+. Got married had two kids, tried every diet to just yoyo up and down. I am now at 270. Went to my first doc appt and see the nut this week. Dr said end of may beginning of June as long as insurance plays nice
  10. Woohoo. Had my first appt w my surgeon and coordinator today. Appt next week for the nut. Waiting for the call to schedule my egd. And have to wait til Friday to call and schedule my psych appt. said it could happen as early as end of May!!! Of course all pending insurance approval....

    1st appt done!

Yes that is our belief too. We think both our kids probably carry the gene. Our daughter we held off on the MMR until she was 4 - she was one and due for it when the measles in the bowel thing came out so we waited. Plus the MMR doesn't work on me or my mom. We have both had it and been tested for rubella repeatedly and it's always negative. At age 4 we decided to give it. Within the first month she had a full blown meltdown and scratched the hell out of me (we didn't put 2&2 together until later though) and proceeded to have them off and on all year. The Ped said it was her testing boundaries and that she felt safest with us so she could hurt is and see we wouldn't leave her. So a year later at age 5 we did the 2nd MMR. Within a month she had her worst meltdown ever and scratched her torso bloody up and down . It was awful. Not long after we put 2&2 together. That meltdown was a sensory kids worst nightmare. We were on vacation in Florida she was covered in sand, hungry and cold. Needless to say our son will not be getting that vax

    1st appt done!

I lucked out and had started seeing a new primary doc in August - we talked about my weight and she started treating me for PCOS, insulin resistance, and hypothyroid. So she has been doing lab and weight checks every two months since then. So I have exactly 6 months covered! BTW I love your Ragdoll picture! We became the proud adoptive parents of 2 ragdoll/siamese kittens in September!

    2 months post op

    Looking awesome!
  18. So our ins is bcbs of il - they say they cover half after deductible is met. Well we are going through that deductible pretty quickly this year. So has anyone had this pay half for ins? If so what were the amts like? All the administrator at the seminar could tell me was it wasn't half of the cash price (which is $12000) - different amt all together. So I have no clue price wise what I am getting into. Just curious if I am getting my hopes up too much and we won't be able to afford it.... I am in the process of getting all my records and paperwork in to get my first appt. just hate the idea of getting my hopes up and submitting everything to find out we can't afford it

BCBS of il - covers half?

I believe it will be around $2500. But I go for my first appt next Tuesday. I have just talked to my coordinator and the insurance co. Of course my hubby's work makes it different than they were used to. The insurance agent I talked to said she had never seen a rider like it on their insurance so she had to pull it all out, read it, and get back to me later.
