Do you use my myfitnesspal? If we could review your food diary and fitness log, we might be able to give you a few pointers if you think it might help.

I go back and watch my pre-op video and then I take a look at my now loose skin in the mirror and smile What a journey this has been so far!

Concerns about getting the Sleeve
VSGKirk replied to luckystarr23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG, so excited for you! Please be sure to take lots of pics, especially of the flattering gown, bed-head, drool, etc. I especially like pain-killer induced updates and observations, so please come online or post something! -
My first question that came to mind is what do YOU want to do? I think occasionally juicing is great, but not as a replacement to your Protein first goal this early out. The juicing craze feels like a fad diet to me, but there's no harm in supplementing your diet with nutrient enriched juice, IMO.

Concerns about getting the Sleeve
VSGKirk replied to luckystarr23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you've thought about this for 2 years, you'll be just fine! I wouldn't trade my toughest day post VSG surgery for my "best" day in my former life. You'll get there, and there are MANY people to help you throughout the journey! -
Having Stomach Muscle Cramps while on my low carb pre-op diet.
VSGKirk replied to bdmadsen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Could be low potassium - used to happen to me all the time while on Atkins. Congrats on the 25 lb loss! Your surgeon will be thrilled and your liver will behave nicely and stay out of the way during surgery! -
Concerns about getting the Sleeve
VSGKirk replied to luckystarr23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you have any doubts (outside of the usual nerves and excitement of surgery) - I would hold off until you are absolutely sure this is for you. This is not an easy process and you need to start from a strong place to help cope with the rapid weight-loss, surges of energy, hours of new clothes shopping, fending off members of the opposite (and same) sex, enjoying the gym, vacationing, and photobombing all your friends pics. -
Lean Cuisine/Healthy Choice?
VSGKirk replied to Aries's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is a new Atkins brand frozen meal variety. I've found that 1/2 of one makes a perfect meal. I don't like to eat them very often because I've become accustomed to fresh food. But they work in a pinch! -

is it safe to sleep on my stomach
VSGKirk replied to ********'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am like a rotisserie chicken and slept on all sides post-op. No problems with the incisions, I say go for it if it makes you comfortable and rested!! -
Oh my goodness... Well, I would imagine they don't want to lose all that $$$ they are going to make next week, but still - you are at their mercy! Chalk it up to pre-op jitters, unless subconsciously you are not wanting to go through with this? Keep us posted and hang in there!!!

I can't belive I just did that...
VSGKirk replied to superstarsandi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you!! If it makes you feel better, the entire surgical team is gonna see you totally nekkid and there's always at least one hot doc or nurse! Feel better? Seriously though, you'll be so happy you took this pic, especially when you see how far you've come 6 months from now! -
Great job Lotti! You're losing at a nice pace. You'll be at goal before you know it

Excuse me, I seem to have misplaced 100 pounds...

YOU GO GIRL! -
I am absolutely certain that my attitude has played a huge roll in my post-op weight-loss success. I left the depression in the biohazard bag in the operating room with my old stomach. I choose to be happy, or at the least hopeful, with my new healthier life where I am in control of how I deal with things without food being involved. Is it always easy? No. Rainbows, unicorns and glitter? No, well, maybe a little glitter I know this sounds very simplistic - but give it a try... YOU HAVE SO MUCH TO LOOK FORWARD TO!

Eating around other people
VSGKirk replied to junebug38's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone in my life (work, friends, family) know I have had surgery and have been extremely supportive. I too am in a field where taking people out to lunch or dinner is the norm. No one cares how much (or little) I eat because they know what's going on. I enjoy sharing whatever I order! I can understand why it may cause concern (or even be shocking) to someone if they don't know why you're eating so little. When in doubt, order whatever you want - knowing you'll take most of it home and make multiple meals out of it! -
Been reviewing my maintenance plan from my NUT and not sure i'm ready.
VSGKirk replied to Sweetcarol238's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I might do a 8oz shake each day (IsoPure) but the rest of my protein comes from food as well. I am 20 weeks post-op.
