Hi Quad! Love your profile pic I live in Port Orchard on the weekends and in Seattle during the work week - let me know if you are ever interested in a Kitsap Group walk or something!

Hi Gang, So, I had to hop on a plane yesterday to attend a conference in New Orleans. This is my first flight post-op. Guess what? NO EXTENDER NEEDED!!! This is where the heavens open up and angels sing, because not only in addition to being big, I am tall and due to my weight, I have not been able to sit in the exit rows for many years. Now I can again - yay! Flying will no longer be as uncomfortable. Also, the shorts I wore on the plane were 44" - last December when we flew I wore a 52". My jacket/vest is an XL and it zips up! Wow, that's a lot of exciting stuff!!!!

My 2 Month Post-Op Surgiversay NSVs!
VSGKirk replied to VSGKirk's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just noticed that I didn't reply to your question! I was 326 on surgery day and on the date of the 2 month surgiversary video I was 284, so that would have been a 42 lb loss. Sorry about taking so long to reply! -

I talked to people about. I created a YouTube diary to remind me of where I started and where I want to be someday. I've never felt better, but to get here, I had to find the joy in other things, more meaningful things than food. You'll get there - 5 days out, you are allowed to feel this way. Heck, you're probably in the grieving process! Hang in there - it gets better every day

Big Mac, Filet-O-Fish, Quarter Pounder, French Fries, Icy Coke, Milkshakes, Sundaes and Apple Pie!
VSGKirk replied to sexyjimenez's topic in Food and Nutrition
Sexy, I was sleeved about 1 week before you. I can't fathom eating a Big Mac, but that is probably because I haven't had a desire to (I'm just lucky that I don't have hunger). I don't think you're really asking for advice or support (based on your original post), so I won't give any. But to those other people who are pre-op and alarmed by this, your reaction is normal, but keep in mind, this is not the typical VSG post-op experience. -

I've pre-ordered the Flex - just using the FitBit Zip at the moment. -
Are there any 4 or 5 year sieevers out there
VSGKirk replied to dantrup's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They are too busy out having fantastically active and fulfilling lives to be on here moaning and groaning about bowel movements and head-hunger....j/k Well, I hope that's what I'll be doing in a few years!!! -
Emotions and sleeve tightness

Your dog needs his Mom to be healthy - I agree, stay hydrated and just do what you can. But dehydration and lack of calories/protein can knock you on your butt really fast now! Speedy recovery to the pooch and great health to you! -
What stage is mashed potatoes in?
VSGKirk replied to dat_sweetmami's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You're totally not crazy. Heck, if we were all experts in battling head hunger, we wouldn't have needed surgery to begin with. Just allow yourself to "feel" it, don't ignore it, but at the same time don't give into it. Just acknowledge it, think about what might be making you "head-hungry" and tell yourself you deserve to be healthy and successful more than having the ability to throw down a bunch of battered, deep-fried carbs that will NEVER love you back. It's hard, but if you can start breaking this head-stuff down now, you'll have long-term success! And the hope of long-term success is why we have resorted to such drastic measures to alter our anatomies. You can do this! -
What!?? I had a lot on my mind back then - there was a lot of pressure being a tween heartthrob!

I think the bigger question for you is in that statement alone... Love yourself, your family, your friends - not a food item... Are you willing to try? I bet you can!! -
I did a lot of "thinking" in the shower when I was about 12-13 yrs old...

Was able to eat 2 hard shell tacos today... Is that considered a lot?
VSGKirk replied to mikeross's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One of my go-to meals is a cheese quesadilla (sometimes with chicken, sometimes not) - I use one of those soft taco sized Carb Balance tortillas and 1/4 cup of cheese. I fry it up really good with that fake butter spray and I'm totally satisfied. -
Ate one slice of 7" pizza frm dominos! :)
VSGKirk replied to Plushie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would imagine that's a big improvement than what the old you would have eaten, so congrats! Now get back on track before we unleash the mob! -

I used to say, tacos are healthy... They have all 4 food groups! Yeah, they still are, LOL -- thanks for all the taco talk folks! You know I'm gonna have to try one today! -
Bathroom scale suggestions?
VSGKirk replied to hurley911's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I'm using a Health-O-Meter Professional sliding scale. The electronic stuff is crap, IMO. -
