  1. I also had a hiatal hernia repair w/ my surgery and didn't even know I had one till I woke up and heard the nurse from PACU giving report to the floor. I'd say surgery for me was pretty good and the pain after was bearable. When the brought me to my room from recovery I had to get up/walk to a chair and thought the nurse was crazy but was able to do it. I did feel the pressure pain but kept forcing myself to walk in the hospital and when I got home. I was terrified of clots and wanted to avoid the pain of trapped gas. It's all but a faint memory for me. I had my surgery 4/8/13. Good luck!! Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Hair?

I use to read posts about hair loss and didn't get to freaked out about it. As a precaution immediately after surgery and actually felt that I stopped losing hair and felt my hair was getting better than before surgery so I was EXCITED then........... I hit 3 months and OMG!!!!! It did start falling hey the handfuls. My lab and I were in competition. I was having to hair up everyday cuz u didn't want to use gel, blower, Iron or anything that would damage my very frail hair. I finally decided I needed help and went to salon. I colored hair (low lights, no bleach) and the stylist suggested a Brazilian blowout which is like a keratin treatment but a little better. The loss of hair has diminished GREATLY!!!! I continue to take Biotin and cut it short. It looks fuller and healthier. I say just prepare for the worst and hope for the best!!! When/If it gets bad I highly recommend a Keratin or Brazilian Blowout. Don't not have surgery because of this worry, it is temporary and although scary as they say, this to shall pass and I never heard anyone say it never grew back and your new body will be forever!!! 3. It could be Iron supplements. Iron supplements may have this effect. You should prob check with your doc of course to be in the safe side. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using VST

  5. Gamergirl, My suggestion would be to ask your PCP for a b12 shot. I got one a week after surgery and the doc gave me prescription so I can do my own monthly. It's helped alot with energy, i am a little more than 4 months now. I was told the same about gummies as other people mentioned. Stay away from those, they are not absorbed. Hope you start feeling better soon. Sent from my iPhone using VST

    broken

So sorry up hear your about your broken heart. I U d'état and how you feel but what I would say is don't blame yourself AT ALL!!! I think there may be many contributing factors here but pretty certain the surgery ain't one. She probably accustomed with the unhappy, unhealthy and maybe less attractive version of you and some people like to feel like they ate a hero to their partner to feel needed. Especially us woman at we like to fix what's broken and that just be it, there was nothing for her to fix, you were perfect and only getting better all around. Hopefully, time and distance will both help you realize where u truly belong. I actually read a quote today " if its True love you will always find each other in the end". Good luck to you and stay strong, let this inspire greatness!! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  10. I was told had to take Multivitamins and Calcium at least four hours apart due to absorption. Maybe try this and see if it helps... Sent from my iPhone using VST

    5 days post op!

Like you said your feeling GREAT, that's because you've been following doctors orders. The old saying applies "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". U just have a little while longer. The better your tummy feels, the better it will handle food when I start introducing it. Just my thoughts.... Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Supplements

I have really struggled with my supplements but think I may be finding something that works. I am post op about 5 weeks and started a couple days after surgery. So I am taking a Celebrate MV in the AM w/ breakfast. Then for lunch I have 2 calcium chews at a time. Then evening around 5-6pm take another 2 calcium chews then 4 hours after that right b4 bed take the other MV. THE VITAMIN D3 I take a dropper once every two weeks (pay day) and do monthly B12 shot. Driving?

I was told no driving for 2 weeks. I would say no matter how you feel you should not. You will definitely still have open, healing wounds and GOD forbid something happens while u driving u can get really hurt. That's just my two cents, better safe than sorry!! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  15. I had surgery a day before you and have lost 25pds so I'd say you doing great!!! I had a stall week 3 but since then been losing steady. My NUT basically just says to listen to our bodies and let that be the guide. She says we need carbs and we can't eat enough to really cause harm (at least not at this point). I obviously unhealthy foods and the thing she really stressed is getting fluids in but she does not give a # of proteins needed per day etc. She says everyone is different so just gotta listen to your body. She says how can I say to have 1/2 cup if something when maybe you would be satisfied with 1/4 cup. I kinda wish she would just tell me what to eat/what not to eat but I guess it makes sense and certainly relieves some of the pressure. I wouldn't stress about it, I think you doing GREAT!!!!!! 16. I sooooo went on a food funeral of my life! I are like a mad woman up to the 24-hrs liquid I needed prior to surgery and I'm glad I did. For me, it was a way of saying goodbye and I feel has given me strength post-op. when I was on my food funeral I would really focus and think about how shitty I felt after binging so now I don't miss it. I know it's probably horrible to admit but for my it was my closure/farewell with my long time friend" FOOD" !!! Sent from my iPhone using VST

    what to bring to hospital

I would say most deg a little firm pillow to hold over tummy when u get up and moving around and Burt's bees for lips are a must. I took so much more and could not use and truth is didn't need it. I took pants (couldn't wear cuz of foley) I took robe (couldn't wear cuz of IV) I took gas-x and listerine strips hospital would not let me take. I took toiletries but hospital gave me everything there to. I took entertainment (iPad w/ movies, books, etc) to tired for any of it. With pain meds I was either sitting up sleeping or walking. Hope it helps! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  19. I have tried several multiple-Vitamins and am struggling. I am only about 2 was out. I never have done good with swallowing pills especially big ones like multi-vitamins. I am Currently taking the Flinstones ones and so far that has been the best but it still has a little after taste which makes me want to not take it. Therefore, I'm hoping a gummy one exists that would work and not have aftertaste? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated... Please help! Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Sharp pains in left side

If the pain is upper left abdomen pain, it's most likely your new tummy. I am a little over 3 weeks out and get similar pain and for me it seems to be gas (air trapped). Try gas-x strips. If its lower left abdomen its probably your bowels or lack there of..... In which case u may be able to take colace (stool softener) of course check with your doc first. I am certainly no doc, lol. Hope this helps and u feel better soon. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  22. I had surgery 4/8 and this week have not lost anything and it is sooooo frustrating!!! I know stalls happen but Geez!!! The thought crossed my mind to go ask my doc for my stomach back.., lol. Seriously though, after some thought this has actually just re-emphasized why I needed this surgery. If I am only consuming 600-700 calories and not losing there was no way with diet alone my body would be able to lose the weight I need and keep it off (at least not while remaining sane) I know I made the right choice!!!! This to shall pass.... Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Is this really healthy?

Hey stefanie, I had surgery sane day as you. I am sorry to hear about your complications that really dies sound scary. I am not worried about calories at all at this point and I am on full liquids. I have has done good/bad days. In like day 3 I could only get 13 ounces and should be getting 48-64oz. I am still not near that but trying. I can tell you life saver for me us SF Popsicle they seem to go down w/ ease and they count for 2oz of Fluid. If you can do one every hour or every other that would help. I hope things get better for you and listen to your body. Just try the best you can and keep on eye in the color and frequency of urine. As long as you not getting dehydrated then your body is getting what it needs. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using VST
