Anyone using a Fitbit?
zoekids replied to Strangefruit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used a bodybugg 2-3 years ago. Got down to 153. But, then started traveling for work, stopped wearing it, <big sigh> and now I am here. I gave a friend a FitBitt for XMAS 2 years ago. She loved it, her only complaint was it was so small she kept losing it. She just told me she is getting the new one since it can be worn on your wrist. She thinks she might avoid losing it. Anyhow, I just dug out my bodybugg, charging it up and will add this to my weight loss tool chest. Thank you for the thread to remind me that this can help in my weight loss journey. Mary -

Newbie: Needs an assessment of protein powder Beverly Ultimate Muscle
zoekids replied to zoekids's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
When I made it before, I used 1/2 cup of frozen berries and either Water or chrystal light. Is it OK to use some frozen fruit in these Protein drinks? Thank you for taking the time to comment. I love the taste. They have a chocolate, vanilla and Cookies and cream. Chocolate is my favorite. Mary -
Managing VSG while traveling every week for work -- tips please
zoekids posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I am a little over a week away from flying to MX for my surgery. I travel for work every week. It is about an hour flight, each way. I keep my main bag at the hotel. It has all of my main work clothes, toiletries, makeup, etc. Thus, I won't have a heavy bag to lift or carry. I just take "undies" back and forth and my laptop. I have a small bullet like blender at the work site. I currently go to whole foods every week and buy food for the week for lunch and dinner. Thus, I am used to not eating for the most part at restaurants. But, I do have semi-required dinners when the hot shots come to town or we are celebrating a milestone. In fact, we have one the first week I am back from surgery. I think I am going to try and skip this first one, but I can't do that every time. I have purchased the Dr's recommended Vitamins and Protein powder. I have a set in my desk and a set at my apartment. I purchased broth for both locations. I have told my immediate team that I am getting this surgery. In fact one of my team mates did the Y thing about a year ago. She lives closer to the work site and drove back and forth every week. She also convinced them to let her stay at an apartment. I really don't want to stay at an apartment as I don't want another place to clean. (call me lazy). Anyhow, my immediate colleagues know I will be eating weird and can't drink alcohol. But, the larger team doesn't know that I know of. I am sure they will find out eventually. Also, there are three of us that have gone together and we have a personal trainer that comes to the hotel twice a week. I told him about the surgery. I told him I probably couldn't do anything my first week back except walk. I am hoping that the next week I can start doing his workouts, but just making sure i am not lifting ... yes, I will talk to the Dr. in MX to find out more details. Any experiences with that would be helpful. What else can I do to make this VSG lifestyle work for me. Any and all tips are welcome. Mary -

My weight is 192, with a BMI of 32. They told me that I didn't have to lose weight. I am going to do the Protein shake diet this week. Started today. Well, I just had some Soup too. I will do the clear liquids next weekend. I am not looking forward to that. Good luck, please post your thoughts and experience. Mary -

January sleevers are youd ready?
zoekids replied to ready2haveanormalwaistline's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am scheduled for the 29th. I fly to San Diego on the 28th. I am getting it down at the OCC in MX. I am both nervous and excited. Since I have a lower BMI, I am only required to do Clear Liquids just 2 days prior, but I am doing a liquid diet this week to kind of get mentally ready for the next phase of my life. Mary -
@houaton17 Good question. My brother who is a dr went to MX. He developed a complication. He had to fight with the insurance to get it covered. He has his hosp CEO and a politician go to bat for him. He was flown out of His home state to a top notch med center to get fixed and recover. Please contact your ins cpany to Find out if they will cover. Or determine how to get back to MX to fix. After doing my homework, talking with my brother I am choosing to go forward. Mary

Yeah, I found the thread for me. I have a BMI of 32. I have been researching this for about a year. I am really excited to see people have such great results with lower BMIs and lbs to lose. I am scheduled for 1/29/2013 with Dr. Ortiz / OCC. I am getting very nervous and I know I will have lots of questions. I hope I can reach out to you all for support. Mary -
