I did full liquids for two weeks, then went to soft foods, like tuna, eggs, fish etc. I was sooo sick of full liquids a couple days before the two weeks were up. Hang in there, your almost to soft and you'll be way more full because some of the liquids your on slide right through your stomach. My first Soft meal I was stuffed. Good luck

THANK GOD! I FINALLY FOUND A DELICIOUS PROTIEN DRINK!
JP69 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So today I broke down and bought the Costco premiere brand drink. It's ready made vanilla flavor. I put it in the freezer till it gets just icy, and yum yum! I have never been a vanilla person but this one is pretty darn good. Just saying:) -
Help needed Day 10 problem
JP69 replied to Success2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
3 oz might have been to much, I did that with Tunafish and 2 oz stuck in me for about an hour in a half, just try a couple bites at time and wait to see if it goes down, just cause they tell you to start different stages, doesn't mean we can sometimes do it:) -
It's definitely a change in habit for almost everyone. It's tru what someone else said. Your food needs to sit in your stomach so it absorbs nutrients, If you drink it just flushes the food right out of your pouch and you have less absorption. At least try 1/2 hour. It's just part of our many changes. Good luck:)

Okay, couldn't wait to get off full liquids! But I notice I can't eat as much real food as the liquids. Even though I wasn't eating but 1/2 cup it feels like now I can only eat 1/4 each meal. I don't feel full, but I feel it stick in my chest when I have had enough. How am I going to be able to have some protein and veggies in the same meal? Does it get better? Any answers or ideas would be great:)

Being encouraged to get the band over the sleeve
JP69 replied to rockdutchess82's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My primary DR. First recommended the band for me, so when I was just starting the process I had it in my head that that was the way I was going cause I didn't want to have Gastric Bypass, cause I didn't want my intestines rerouted. Through Kaiser You have to go through a lot of classes and education before you even get to the surgeon. I didn't even know there was Gastric Sleeve. But after all the education they gave me and the pros & cons, it made much better sense to go with the sleeve. My Dr. hasn't even done a band in 2 years! Like everyone else said just do your homework. I know some people go to other countries to have this done, so some might not get all the education they need. I am glad I had Kaiser for this or I would have been lost. -
Great ideas! I mix salsa with forked mashed potato too:)

I eat frozen SF pops they were a life saver my first few days. I have noticed on here that Drs have different opinions on what u can eat with the sleeve

JP69 replied to Success2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish I had this belly sleeve two. As for pain meds just take as needed You should be pretty close to stopping, but they do make it easier to sleep:) They gave me the nasty liquid meds so I didn't touch them after I got home. -

I am post op 10 days, no problems what so ever. Cleaned out my clothes closet last night sat down n bed around 10pm. Suddenly wracked with the most excruciating pain I have ever had. My left side hurt right where the hip is. Called the bariatric surgeon on call and he just told me to take some of my pain meds. So I called ER and they said come right away cause of recent surgery. 5hrs later 4:00 in morning, I have two Kidney Stones! One passed and one still in Kidney. Plus I got UTI. Anyone else get this after surgery? Never had them before, but DR. says my strict diet change could have caused them.

Going back to work soon, and will be on puree, what to bring?
JP69 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Going back to work soon and wondering what people brought for breakfast and lunch I go in very early, no time to eat before. I will still be on pureed. Any suggestions? Thank you:) -
asking here because you all have had the sleeve done.
JP69 replied to kayluc16's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nothing but the clothes on your back, and make those just some loose sweats and a zippered sweatshirt! My husband was so pissed they made him take everything they asked me to bring with him while I was in the bed waiting for surgery. They will give u toothbrush. -

I will be three weeks when I go back. -
I will be starting puree food I'm a few days and I can't wait for more variety: My papers do say finely chopped too. Are u pureeing your meat or chopping really fine?

Sleeve guru is right, the big difference this time is u have this amazing tool. You r not gonna be able to eat large portions again. And when you can finally eat all foods, by then you should be picking the best choices and not high cal food. You will still only be able to eat a certain amount so you will succeed! Don't worry and listen to the forums and go to support groups, this will really help. Good luck, u can do it!

What is NSV?

Totally agree with Dalola's post. I'm only 8 days out and my habits are turning a point. I am making dinner for family and I'm okay with it. It gets much easier as time goes by, and it helped me to have lots of classes and support groups before surgery. Good luck
