  1. Surgery date: 4/23/13 HW: 237 lbs SW: 227 lbs CW: 175 lbs HT: 5'3" 50 lbs to go until I reach my goal: 125 lbs. I've been working with a personal trainer and I started running, because I've been losing slow and steady, while working out, I have very little excess skin. I'm currently wearing a slightly loose size 14 pants and M/L tops. My hair loss seems to have subsided. It was scary at first, but I think I was the only one who noticed. Thankfully, I have a lot of hair! Feeling great, motivated to get to goal! It is amazing how different I am treated, people actually look at me, opposed to past me. It's so nice to walk into a store and leave with clothes that are not plus size. This was the best decision I've ever made for myself! I've found the members of this forum to be extremely inspiring, thanks to all/keep up the hard work!

  3. What hair treatments were you referring to? Btw, you look amazing. Truly an inspirational read - thank you for sharing.
  4. Sleeved 4/23/13. Heaviest weight: 237, weight on the day of surgery: 227, today I weighed in at 188. Down 39 lbs since surgery. Slow loser, but I'll take it! 63 lbs until I reach my goal of 125.
  5. Has anyone tried those body wraps that seem to be all the rage these days? I see people promoting them all over FB, etc. If you have, please tell me about your experience. I heard a lot of people say it's only temporary, fine with me, I wear make up, curl my hair, shave, have my eyebrows threaded, etc. What's the difference? All of the things I've just listed are temporary, but it makes me feel better in the moment. If these body wraps deliver results, even for a few hours, sign me up: especially for beach days/special occasions...

    Seeking Buddies 5'2" & Under

You look amazing!!! Congratulations! How tall are you? (Sorry if you've already posted this...)
  7. Same here - doc said I could have wine 1 month post op. I am a social drinker, have consistently lost weight since my surgery date: 4/23/13. No stalls, drinking socially has not prevented me from losing, and I have the same tolerance as before I was sleeved.
  8. Hi Everyone! I am new to the group. I attended an informational Bariatric seminar the 2nd week of January, and ultimately decided I would like to go forth with the sleeve option. I saw my primary care physician yesterday morning to obtain a referral to see Dr. Jeannine Giovanni – (Bariatric Center of Excellence). I received the referral, and I see Dr. Giovanni on Monday! I am really excited, however, I generally have a little black cloud that rears its ugly head just when things seem promising. I am 5'2", weigh 223lbs, and my BMI is 40.13 (just made it), I am wondering what hoops Harvard is going to make me jump through, is anyone familiar with their requirements regarding showing weight loss efforts, i.e.: weight watchers, supervised nutrition visits, etc. etc. etc. Also, I am wondering if they're going to require me to attempt to lose weight for 3-6 months first before consenting to approve as my insurance provider. Any thoughts? I appreciate any/all comments, I am very new to all of this and have a long road ahead... Nikki

    Harvard Pilgrim Requirements

I received an 80.00 copay bill, otherwise, HP paid for everything, including my own private hospital room.
  10. Congratulations!!!! Hope to join you in the next 2 weeks!
  11. I used to enjoy eating, now it's just a chore. Will I ever enjoy it again? I am 5 weeks post op today, does it ever get easier?
  12. Please share - any trouble with your skin? What was your before weight, and how tall? Thank you!
  13. I was sleeved 4/23, highest weight 237 lbs, weight day of surgery 227 lbs. 1 month check in I weight 208 lbs. Happy with my progress thus far. I've been using 100% pure Argan oil and A&D first aid ointment with vitamins 2x a day - my incisions are healing nicely - my surgeon even made a comment about how good they look! I started weight training and Pilates to attempt to tone any developing excess skin, so far I've been lucky but it's still very early in. Still struggling to get all of my protein in, I'm just not hungry! Happy to answer any questions - Hope everyone is progressing well - Nikki
  14. I love sunflower seeds!!! We can have them?! How far out did you start eating them? Any trouble?

    Driving home?

I would not have been able to drive myself home. It was difficult enough being a passenger, definitely bring a pillow on the trip home and squeeze it against you, bumps are not your friend! Good luck to you!
  16. Work it girl - you look amazing!!! Job well done, your hard work and dedication is inspirational! How are you doing with excess skin? Do you mind revealing your clothes size in your before pic and your current pic?
  17. Thank you for sharing - you look great! Do you mind if I ask how you got your insurance company to pay for it?
  18. Did you have a tummy tuck? Looking good girl!!!

6 months post op -98lbs so far

Congratulations! You look fantastic! Did you experience hair loss?
  21. I'm having this now too, three week Sleeve anniversary Tuesday! Did you find out what this pain is? Are you still feeling it?
  22. I was sleeved 4/23, had my gallbladder removed and a hiatal hernia repair. No complications, took 3 weeks off from work but could have easily returned by week 2. I was in pain for about a week and a half. Best to remove it now so your surgeon doesn't have to go back in in several months, open your healing incisions, to remove it then. Good luck to you!
