My post-op diet moves kind of fast...

They had my eating purée foods in the hospital the morning after surgery. I started soft foods at 2 weeks out, and regular food at 4 weeks. I'm 3.5 months out and 70lbs down. Each surgeon is different and just follow your surgeons guidelines. Listen to your body, if it seems painful or isn't sitting right, wait a week and try again

  7. Just ignore my horrible diary today lol. I did pretty well, but I'm still trying to get a handle on my emotional eating. I was upset/stressed earlier and took a spoon of sugar free frosting! Lol. Not my finest moment, but at least I logged it right?
  8. Got it! Are you on my fitness pal? You could add me and look at my food diaries too! Kia923 (username)
  9. Maybe you aren't eating enough? I'm a July sleever and was keeping my calories around 750-800 and lost maybe a pound a week. 3 weeks ago I upped my calories to 900-950 and I've been losing 3-4lbs per week!

    Enabling addictions

What's so hard about this addiction is that we aren't physically able to abstain. Alcoholics can avoid bars/alcohol, drug addicts can completely avoid drugs, smokers can completely cut out cigarettes.. But food addicts can't cut out food unless we are tube fed the rest of our lives. We just have to realize WHAT the issue was before surgery, and try to resolve it. Perfect example is that while you (gamer girl) have a sugar addiction and must avoid all sweets, I've never had a sweet tooth and could take it or leave it. Me on the other had, am a carb addict. I love me some Pasta or bread or mashed potatoes. Plus, my portions were outrageous. As far as the portions go, I weigh my food so I could "empty my plate" without going over. I've slowly been learning that I don't have to empty my plate, and it's ok to leave food over. It comes from my mom and I being poor when I was little, and always being taught to eat everything on my plate. As far as the carbs go, I avoid them, just like you avoid sugar. They are a trigger, and once I have one, I want them all. I'm sorry for rambling! But I think a lot of people "enable" and act supportive is because the second someone uses "tough love", they are pounced on and called "heartless" or an "internet bully", so some refrain from being blunt all together.

    when to stop? my answer

Does the body have a certain point where it levels off? Or do we have to adjust calories and such once we hit a certain weight?

  14. Ave you had issues with your stomach? I'm three months out and have only been drinking decaf until about a week ago. I've been having about 8-16oz of regular coffee per day. Oh how I've missed it!! Have you had sort of long term affects or issues? I'm still getting in all of my water as well.
  15. I'm 24 and just had surgery 3 months ago. Best decision ever. Now, I get to live the rest of my life healthy and happy. There are many many people here that say their only regret was not getting this earlier in life. As far as the "easy way out" comment, that's is just ignorance. People who truly know what's involved in this lifestyle know that is extremely difficult! Do what you feel is best for you! I'm 67lbs down in 3 months and couldn't be happier! Good luck! Edit: as far as the depression goes.. I wouldn't say that I was depressed, but it was definitely emotional in the beginning. Mourning food, learning how to eat... It's extremely hard. But now, at 3 months out, I can physically eat whatever I want. I make good decisions, and am learning how to work the sleeve. All of the weight loss and dropping clothes sizes and done wonders for me emotionally! Very recently, I've begun to love myself and it feel amazing!
  16. doesn't coffee alone not have a lot of calories? I think my large coffee with skim and Splenda was like 40 calories according to MFP
  17. Ok, great! I was worried about the caffeine and future ulcers! I log everything on my fitness pal including my water and coffee intake . I was such a huge coffee addict before surgery, and I've missed it soooo much!
  18. You sound just like me. I lost 22lbs immediately after surgery, then nothing for FOUR WHOLE WEEKS!!! I was ready to throw in the towel! But then, I literally dropped 4lbs over night! I'm now 3 months out and 67lbs down! You WILL lose! Just be patient! This is a marathon, not a sprint!
  19. Highest weight 299 Day of surgery 289 Current 233 Love my sleeve!!
