How many calories?
JessicaAnn replied to JessicaAnn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess when I start eating solid food it will be harder to do. But I guess it's better than my 3000 calories pre op! -
Oh, and I also cooked up a bunch of casseroles and stuff before surgery and froze them so it was easier to make dinners. Also the crock pot really helps.

I'm not a single mom, but my husband went back to work (12 hour days) the day after I got home from the hospital. My kids are 1 and 3.5. I lucked out and feel amazing! My problem is I feel so good that I try And do too much. I'm supposed to also have a 5lb weight restriction, but I've had to lift my 1 year old a couple of times.

Any 20-30 Year Old Sleevers Out There?
JessicaAnn replied to MouseOnTheMile's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 23 and was just sleeved Wednesday. I have a higher bmi, but no other health issues. I had no problem at all with insurance! They approved me within days of submitting all of my paperwork! I consider myself very lucky because my experience pre op, and now post op have been amazingly easy! I've lost 15lbs since surgery! -
Questioning If I Can Do This
JessicaAnn replied to Andrew0929's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My insurance didn't require a loss. I had to have 6 months of weigh ins, and I think I gained 5lbs in that time. I have a horrible binge eating problem. But now, I'm 4 days post op and already 22lbs down (8lbs from pre op diet)!!! You CAN do this! -
Dermabond falling off already?
JessicaAnn replied to JessicaAnn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok good. I put bandages over them last night because I was freakin out that they weren't ready to come off yet lol. -
Just had surgery on Wednesday and the glue is already starting to lift around the sides! Is that normal? The nurse at the hospital told me it would take a couple of weeks for it all to fall off.

Dermabond falling off already?
JessicaAnn replied to JessicaAnn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh ok.. So maybe it's normal lol. I'm just so paranoid. We went to a family event today and I walked a couple of miles too. I thought I over did it and they started to peel from moving around so much today. -

When were you sleeved? -
I told everyone! I told my surgeon, I told them when they were prepping for surgery, I even told the anesthesiologist and nurse in the operating room! I told them to blast me with a full arsenal of anti nausea meds even if I didn't feel nauseous. Whatever it was worked! I took the pill about a hour before surgery, and then got a shot of phenagran (sp?) every 8 hours until the next morning. I never felt one bit of nausea!!

Could it be a tummy bug?

3 days post op and on purée diet. On my paper, it says scrambled eggs are considered purée. Has anyone used ketchup or even something else? I feel like a plain egg would be too dry. I know ketchup has sugar, but I figured the minimal amount we ingest wouldn't really be a lot. Thoughts?

I ended up adding a little low fat shredded cheese instead. Ate only a few bites before getting that pressure in my chest which I guess means I'm full?

Tending to children post-op
JessicaAnn replied to laffypatty's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was just sleeved 3 days ago. I'm a stay at home mom of 2 kids (1 and 3.5) and my husband went back to work. I have a 5lb weight lifting restrictions, but realistically, that's just not possible. I've tried avoiding it, or letting the baby crawl onto the couch and on my lap, but for naps I have to pick him in and out of his crib. I try to lift with my knees. I know I'm not supposed to, but I really have no other choice. I have no help. But once my husband gets home from work, he's an amazing help! -

9 days post-op drinking question
JessicaAnn replied to Sleeveland's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm 3 days post op and it took me 3 hours to get down 8oz of my shake. Everyone is different. Just double check with your dietician or doctor if your concerned. -
This was my biggest fear! I tolerate pain well, but I'm a biggggg baby with nausea. They gave me a pill before surgery, they told me it was the same anti nausea med that they gave chemotherapy patients. I'm 3 days post op and haven't been nauseous once!

JessicaAnn replied to JessicaAnn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got the laughing cow light chipotle. Soooo yummy! -
Considered purée??its the spreadable Swiss flavor. I'm on purée, and I figured it would be a nice snack that also has protein.

Just sleeved on July 3 (yay!!) and was told not to lift anything heavier then a gallon of milk until my check up on the 15th. Anyone else have different lifting limitations? Is my doctor just being conservative? My one year old stood at my feet and cried hysterically waiting for my to pick him up. It was heart wrenching. He's about 23lbs. My husband put him on my lap so I could rock him to sleep, but the second my husband tried to take him to put him in his crib he screamed and cried hysterically . I obviously don't want to do any damage internally, but it's so hard watching your child cry and not understand why mommy can't pick him up . During the day isn't so bad, but nap and bed time is horrible.

Im officially on the losers bench!
JessicaAnn posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved yesterday morning at 8am. Procedure took an hour and recovery for another hour. I've had absolutely no pain or nausea, just bloaty gas pressure. It's almost like I'm waiting for something to happen since this has all been so easy! No pain meds, except for IV Tylenol for my headache. I've eaten about 3-4 cups of ice chips over the last day and they taste heavenly after being so thirsty! Going for my leak test (that I'm completely dreading) in an hour or so, then hopefully going home!! I can't wait to start dropping weight!!!! -
