  1. Oh wow well it's good to know I'm not going totally crazy!! TY
  2. Hi folks. I got my sleeve a few weeks ago on 3/14 with Dr. Aceves. One of the incisions was vertical and inside my navel, on the upper part of it. It's pretty much all healed up now but I'm finding I have a mixture of both numbness and sharp tingling nerve pain near it. (note this is one of the small incisions, not the big stomach-pully-outtie incision) On an area of my stomach, to the side of my navel about 3"x3", I have total numbness. I've closed my eyes and poked around there with a q-tip and it's dead, I have a total loss of sensation. Outside of that numb area I now have strange tingling nerves that freak out and twinge every now and then. Anyone else experience anything like this? ~B

    Purees not good..

I was sleeved 3/14 by Dr. Aceves. I am in my puree stage as well. I am finding that most purees are not sitting well in my stomach. I did find that squeezing lime into plain Water to turn it acidic made a HUGE difference. I am now able to drink so much more liquids. It's a revelation. Juices, protien shakes, and non-water liquids I am struggling with big time. I am not sticking to my diet as close as I ought to be, however, I expect that will come in time when I am fully healed, all I can do is do my best. My biggest focus right now is getting in enough liquid so I don't dehydrate. I am still in a position where eating is not enjoyable. Things that work for me: Stage 2 baby food "pouches", good way to get in veggies and Fiber without getting ass explosions Watered down hummus, though the garlic was a bit much liquid drinkable probiotic yogurts (they're the perfect size too) water with a squeeze of lime hawaiian style coconut gel (haupia) broth sugar free pops protien shakes if I can handle them but usually I can't. pureed Soups.

    Does Anyone Else Hate Eating?

I used to live and breathe by when I would get my next meal. I'd eat gargantuan portions and the smell of food got me salivating at every turn. Kind of like a junkie looking for their next fix to be quite honest with you all. Food was SO delicious. I must confess I can completely relate. My experience thus far is not at all what I thought it would be. I'm 11 days post-op and I hate eating. It's not enjoyable for me, though admittedly I'm on "full liquids" at this stage. But I feel always full, I have no desire to eat AT ALL... my relationship with food is so broken. Now, there's nothing. No appetite, no desire, no hunger, no growling stomach, nothing. If I wasn't for fear of dehydration or dying of starvation I'd be quite happy to sit for days and not put a thing in my mouth. It's *work* now to eat, it feels like a chore, and anything I eat sits there like a lead brick and gurgles uncomfortably, after which is 30 minutes of burping. I know that I have to eat to heal and I have to get calories in so my metabolism isn't destroyed but I'm finding it really hard. :-( OP, I know how you feel, girl. I don't wanna put it in my mouth.
  5. You were SO RIGHT. After you said that I realized there was one purse I'd not checked but I didn't know where it was.... back of the coat closet behind a dozen coats!! And in that zippered pocket... lady, your wisdom knows no bounds! Thank you!
  6. Ahhhhh my god. I FOUND IT It was in a zippered pocket of an old purse that was hidden behind a bunch of coats. There is so much wisdom to be had on this forum.
  7. I am not telling the OP to wake up to eat. I am quoting information done on a study that was broadcasted on NPR that mice who ate AGAINST their circadian rhythms, gained weight. The same is true for people who eat before bedtime.
  8. Recently on NPR I was listening to a talk about nutrition and how doctors actually don't know what the optimum number of meals per day for a human is. However they found in both humans and mice that giving them food contrary to their circadian rhythms resulted in obesity in the mice that ate at night versus those who ate in the day. They woke mice up and fed them at night rather than during their natural circadian wake cycle. The same is suggested for humans that eat late meals. Long story short, scientists truly don't know how many meals are optimum. If you take the total nutritional and caloric content of three meals and break it out across 6, I see no issue with this. SUPPLEMENTING your 3 meals with ADDITIONAL snacks/calories is obviously going to impact your weight loss. I think this is the NPR program I heard it on. The topic is on caffiene but I think they touched on the circadian rhythms and number of meals as well. http://www.npr.org/blogs/thesalt/2013/03/07/173465469/if-caffeine-can-boost-the-memory-of-bees-can-it-help-us-too

    Alcoholism ?

WOW this hit home with me in a BIG way. In a revelation kind of way. I come from an abusive, broken, dysfunctional family with generations of alcoholism and drug abuse. I am not a drinker nor a drug addict, and I've always elevated myself in a small way, giving myself a pat on the back for staying clean and not becoming an addict like the rest of my family. But I did. food was my solution, and it worked for the last 10 years. Thank you for the eye-opener. Whatever I next "cope" with i hope it's something positive like exercise. (sorry I know this is the man room ( though man-cave would have been a better name for this section!) but lets not kid ourselves, we all read the others' threads!)
  10. I'm 4 days in too. It is totally normal from all I've heard and read. Your body is trying to deal with the shock of not having instant fuel (sugars, carbs, excess fats) and that adjustment can cause headache, nausea, weakness, dizziness, irritability and body aches. I've been getting dizzy and shaking/weak now that I am 4 days in and i can barely get up the stairs to my house. Keep at it!! If you did 4 you can totally do another 4!
  11. Thank you guys, I was freaking! (well, having a lost or stolen passport is still worrisome, I admit, and I will be filing a report). Glad that all the money on plane tickets and surgery is not wasted though! Bree
  12. Thank you Lander! This is the type of thing I'm infamous for... losing things in plain sight. But my hubs and I tore up every purse, tote, and suitcase as well as every "important" filing area... we're at a loss. What a pain in the ass!
  13. I know right? I'm going to wake up with some extra tackle between my legs.
  14. Hallelujah! I will give it a shot and try to get a rush replacement and hope that somehow the universe aligns in my favor.
