  1. The people who sat this is the easy way have never been to the place we are at. I also used to say I would never let myself get to the point I was. The "easy" thing to do is say that we are all lazy with no self control, that a basic diet will fix us - after all if fixes people who only have 30 pounds to lose! We have different body chemistry and different brain chemistry, if we didn't we would not be in our starting conditions. We eat like "normal" people yet we are at least 100 pounds overweight. This is not the easy way out!!! It is scary and brutal. Recovery is difficult, but I have not for one second thought I made the wrong decision. I proud I myself and all of us for taking control of our lives. Nobody will diminish that by saying I could have dieted all on my own and that I wasted my money. Great job to us success stories!!!
  2. I am 5 6 and started at 286. This week I am 6 weeks out and exactly 40 pounds down including 2 week pew op. I have not regretted this once!!! I appear to be a wimp and it took me some time to feel like myself again but I still have no regrets. I also. Had a large hiatal hernia and had it repaired. I have so much relief from that being gone. No heartburn or acid reflux for the first time in at least 10 years. I am so happy with my decision.

    Scared of Pain!

I also have a low tolerance for pain, so I will tell you about me. I needed my painkillers!!! The button you get in hospital will handle your pain, don't worry. Get up walking as soon as they will let you to deal with the gas. When I got home I was walking several times a day but short slow distances. I had to get pain medication refilled a few times. I was on it for two weeks round the clock, then for a week at two doses a night, down to one dose a night. Just before four weeks out I am off. Still feels like I did a lot of crunches, but that is not a big deal. That being said I do not have a problem with addictive tendencies and I was able to quit the narcotics with no problems. It did hurt but it was not unbearable, the Rx and OTC managed the pain just fine. It is worth it. I'm just over a month out and no regrets at all!!
  10. Pre make some meals for the family, at least a weeks worth! Cream soups tasted wonderful to me after two weeks of pre op diet and broth in the hospital. Yogurt was my favorite especially Greek.
  11. I am noticing it in my face and thighs. Hoping tummy will be noticeable soon. My surgery date was Feb 27th.
  12. I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one who is totally exhausted!!!! A shower makes me want a nap, a 2 block walk makes me want a nap, I went to work for a whopping 3 hours (first day) and needed a nap. Sleeve date feb 27
  13. I also have no idea when I am hungry or full. I have to make myself eat my 2 ounces on schedule. Those few ounces could be making me full but I have no idea lol. I also find myself forcing water and I love water. It doesn't hurt to drink I just don't want it. I love not feeling hungry!!!
  14. I had my sleeve on feb 27th. I am wondering if my pain levels are typical, my stomach still hurts. I went back to work today and sitting on my standard office chair was very uncomfortable almost painful. When will I be able to sit normally?
  15. I'm February 27. I go see the nut on the 13 to start the pre op diet. I'm curious to see what I should stock up ok for post op at home. I'm feeling great about my decision to do this and can't wait to see what my life is like 6 months from now!!

VSG and Hernia Surgery - anyone?

I also found out I had a hernia. I thought I had acid reflux and heartburn, didn't have a clue it could be a hernia and was shocked to hear it. I have horrible heartburn and acid reflux regularly wakes me up at night. I seriously doubt it could get worse, but these posts make me wonder just how miserable I will be post surgery?
