Surgery is Tues and I've been on low carb/high protein pre op diet. I kind of invented something tonight and I thought "Hey, this would be perfect a few months post-op" so I wanted to share w/ ya'll! Taco Bunless Burgers. Put taco seasoning (home made would have less sodium if you're up to doing individual spices) into 1 lb ground turkey & mix well. Divide into 8 even portions and form into patty in a baking pan (or you could do in a cupcake pan it would be more like a meatball). Bake on broil 4 mins on each side (8 mins total) or until done in center. Add 1/2 cup shredded taco cheese (divided into 8 portions), diced onion, salsa, and 1 Tbsp. Fat Free Sour Cream to each piece. This will end up being about 3-4 ounces for the whole package and only about 125 calories each! Let me know what you think ;D

Im not on a liquid diet, its just high protein low carbs. I cheated ONE time a few days ago but I had lost since then and it was VERY small amount. I decided for these last few days I am just going to do clear liquid and hope it gets me where I need to be by Tuesday. -

Malexa, im also on the 12th. Im 28 yrs old, 5'5" and 250 lbs. I have 4 children, ages 8, 2, and 11 month old twins. All girls. They need me. My husband needs me. I want to live a long happy life, be there for my kids, my family. I can't imagine how their lives will be without me if something bad should happen. But, as others have said, you take a risk of dying every time you get in your car and drive! you never know when a drunk driver will hit you, or a tree fall on you and kill you (this actually has happened twice in my town the past few years!)...to me the risk is worth it though. Its a small risk, let's be honest. And the positives far outweigh the negative "what ifs" bc this is my last chance to be healthy and happy with myself. If I don't do the surgery, I will get bigger and bigger...that has WAY MORE negative effects and risks than the surgery!! I am a person of strong faith and I believe if its not my time, God will protect me. Im praying to be surrounded by angels during my travel to mexico and my surgery. That's really all we can do in any situation, in our every day life. Just pray about it (if you believe in God) and hopefully God will bring you a peace about it hope this helps -

day 3 of pre op diet. I got on scale yesterday, it said 255. Got on today it says 250. 5 pounds in one day? I'll take that! Ive always been a fast loser, but now that I've had 4 babies and im nearing 30 I've been a little afraid my weight loss would be a lot slower. Hopefully, the way its looking that doesn't seem to be the case. I can't wait to be sleeved and see it fall off!!!! -
Im going to share something I discovered, which you may not know if you don't have children. I've read several people on here in the soft/liquid/puree phases who miss texture and crunch. In the baby section there is something called "yogurt bites" basically its little wafers of freeze dried yogurt. They are crunchy BUT dissolve on your tongue and melt. So, it may help satisfy that need for something crunchy. They taste YUMMY by the way. Also would be good for those further along who just want a healthy crunchy snack. 1/4 a cup is only 30 calories!

I've had to pluck chin hairs ever since I was about 14. I get thick black hairs tht I have to pluck on my sideburns. And worst of all, under my chin on my neck is a whole pelt of dark black beard hair. I've been shaving it also since about 14. Im now 28. This is every day of my life. It really sucks. I have to wear makeup over it every day so my husband doesn't see, bc even tho I shave it you can see the black spots in my pores. Also my neck sometime gets rlly red and irritated from it. sooo not fun. I have to worry about having razors, tweezers, and privacy every day to take care of it. On vacation, at home, at families houses, when I swim (worry abt the makeup coming off and the chlorine burning my skin if im razorburned). Its a mess. I really want laser removal, but that'll just have to wait a while. Oh, and its crazy bc im NOT a hairy person. Arm hairs are blonde, leg hairs are medium and light brown. Idk its just my lot in life.

Jillie, a lot of people have the same fear. I think you'll find very few people who regret their sleeve or are unhappy with the results. Even if you lose "slow" at least you'll lose! Over time you'll become smaller and smaller, instead of bigger and bigger like before. Pre op diet started today and yes I've been eating like mad this past month! -

We girls should totally plan a group for the disney marathon! That would be so empowering! I haven't heard anyone else mention anything about a medic alert bracelet or necklace w "no ng tube gastric sleeve". Hasn't even crossed my mind that we would need something like that! Has anyone else been told to get one of these made? Pre op diet starts tomorrow (and Ive had a virus all day so I didn't even get one last day of eating but im sure I've had enough days of eating like a giant haha) -

Presher, I know how you feel. I have an 8 yr old, 2 year old, and 10 month old twins! I am a SAHM and I will have SOME help, but the reality is there wont be someone here 24 hours a day for the whole healing period. We gotta do what we gotta do! When you have babies, you don't have the option to rest and not pick up things etc. Kinda HAS to be done lol -

Pepper paul I have the same diet plan as you and I also plan on doing protein smoothies for lunch and one meal for supper. Lean and green meals are basically low carb, low fat. Today is my 2 week countdown too! I start pre op diet in 4 days. Kind of ready to get it started just to feel like im DOING something. -

Ok for all those struggling w/ the pre-op diet I have a tiny suggestion that MAY help a little. If you can (if your surgeon allows it, I would call to double check but I don't see why it wouldn't be ok) try adding some chia seeds to your protein shakes. Besides having lots of other great benefits, they absorb water so when they get to your stomach they help make you feel full and for longer amounts of time. I have been putting them in my protein smoothies. They REALLY do make me fell full pretty quickly. I can have a smoothie at lunch w/ them in it and I'm not full again until supper time. Post-op they can be helpful b/c they help keep you hydrated (I guess b/c they absorb water and it's released into the body as they're digested? Just a guess). Anyway, check w/ your Dr to make sure they're allowed
