Any March Sleevers?
PeacockMama replied to futuresleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im also having a hard time getting in enough protein. Its just that all the protein I can have right now is sweet and im so tired of that. I want some savory flavors! Next week will be SO much better. Eggs and chicken and fish....mmm. some days im getting in about 40, some days 30, and some days 50. 50 is what I shoot for but some days I just can't take it. -

Jillie, maybe you should only weigh once a week? Day to day could get discouraging but if you wait a week and then see a big # it will feel better! -

Blood clots are a reality of ANY surgery. You wouldn't let a risk of blood clot stop you from having life saving heart surgery if you needed it would you? Its a risk, but as pepperpaul said, being obese is the bigger risk here. -

Sarah the clot USUALLY happens AFTER surgery. Getting a doppler pre op and having clear veins is no indication that you WONT get a blood clot. its nature. Its God. It happens or it doesn't, but you can follow your dr orders to help prevent the complications. -

**even if its a false alarm who cares, go get it checked and tell them you've recently had surgery. Its YOUR Life and you have to be your own advocate. -

Usually a DVT (deep vein thrombosis, aka blood clot) starts in the calves. If you have a reddened, hardened, or painful nodule on your calve which is warm to the touch, go to the hospital! Do not under ANY circumstances massage it or rub it, that could cause it to "break free" and travel to your heart or brain. -

Does anyone know how soon after the operation lifesaveremt had his clot and passed away? I have been in shock since last night when I read the news I know you're at increased risk of clots about a month post surgery...so don't forget to walk people! If you work in an office (or anywhere you have to sit long periods) make sure to clench calves and pump your feet to keep the blood going! -

I am having NO PROBLEM in the poop department right now! Liquid in = liquid out. Yeah, gross I know!! Lol. Beby, im pretty sure its just like any other paper @ the dr you sign tht says if insurance doesn't pay you're responsible for the bill. Its a formality and a "cover your ass" clause for the dr. I wouldn't worry about it. It came from the dr, not the insurance company right? -

Flying to Juarez tomorrow! Oh. My. Glob!
PeacockMama posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Husband and I are flying out tomorrow! Making a last run to walmart today and spending time with my babies. Have a 3 hour drive to Atl airport, 3 hour flight to texas, and then will be picked up and taken to Juarez hospital. My emotions are running the gambit right now! So much so that I don't even know if that last sentence is correct in any way! Haha! Just please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Taking our laptop so I hope to be able to post updates as they have wifi in the hosptial. I don't think my phone is going to work bc we are pre-paid (not on a plan) and it doesn't work out of country. -

Hey everyone sorry I haven't posted! I got so behind bc my internet didn't work in juarez but my texting did lol I had a GREAT experience and would recommend starmedica hospital in Juarez, dr rodriguez and his staff to ANYONE considering this surgery. I wont go through the entire thing, but everything was clean and modern, the staff was super nice and knowledgable, and I felt comfortable and safe the whole time. I am now 4 days post op (5 counting the day of surgery, seems like longer lol)and I feel pretty great in general! Not going to weight until Tuesday, the 1 week mark bc of all the extra fluid weight. Don't want to be disappointed and it should be gone by the week mark. So far its all smiles and no regrets, and each day will be better and better! -

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't posted. I got so behind bc my internet didn't work in juarez but my texting did lol I had a GREAT experience and would recommend starmedica hospital, dr rodriguez and his staff to ANYONE considering this surgery. All the good reviews online aren't lying. Its clean, modern, staff is all super nice, great care... I can't say enough positive things! I am a nurse, so I know how things are supposed to be done, and they were up to snuff! It wasn't ALL rainbows and unicorns. The day of surgery I slept all day and night so the next day gas had settled in my neck shoulder and side. It was HELL the most awful pain, like labor pains, and the meds didn't touch it. I walked a ton that day and had to sit in the recliner on the edge to be able to stand the pain. Laying back ANY hurt so bad. Later that night it got better and I went to sleep. The next day it was gone, and I felt TONS better. Flew home on Thursday. Felt good but got tired before I got home (3 hour flight followed by 3 hour drive). Today is 4th day post op (seems like longer lol)and I am feeling pretty great in general! So far all smiles and no regrets. Not going to weigh until Tuesday (my 1 week mark) bc of the swelling and extra fluid weight. I have 4 incision marks which are dermabonded and one small hole where the drain was which will close in a few days. Sent me home w pain meds, heartburn meds twice a day (def need tht the heartburn makes u feel hungry but you're not really), and antibiotic. Only took the pain med at night to sleep and I prb wont take it anymore. If you have any other questions just ask!!!! -

Omigoodness! Pre opers are you hungry? Starving? I can tell you how to make it stop. Have someone use your toilet (in a bad way) and then have it sit there for a few days bc you can't get it to flush and you can't get anyone to come see about it. THEN have your washing machine water back into said toilet when it drains and have all the poopy water in your bathroom, hallway, and babys bedroom to clean up! THAT is guaranteed to make you very decidedly NOT hungry. -
