Same here. Just got released about an hour ago. I'm wearing a binder bc one of my incisions is just causing a burning pain. Stupid pharmacy has yet to retrieve their voice mails so they haven't filled my prescription for pain meds. Dreading the next few hours. Little gassy but overall ok.

Scared and excited. So much left to do in preparation. I can't believe the day is almost here. So far I lost 12 lbs on the pre-op diet but let's see how today goes as I will be using magnesium citrate and be on liquids per my doctor's orders.

Of course, there's more than enough to go around thanks to our tiny tummies.

Why do they mix the barium with Kool-Aid
Susie1226 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had my surgery yesterday the 19th. Pain was bad upon waking up but it has improved. So has my walking. I walked down the hallway only as far as my room yesterday. Today I did 2 laps around the hallway. Did my leak test and passed. Why they put grape Kool-Aid in it I will never know. Now I can't look at the stuff without gagging. If all goes well, I should be released tomorrow. Waiting for my tray of liquids. -
They kept injecting with something for nausea to prevent it. I don't remember what it was called. But that has helped me. Initially I had nausea but now I'm good.

Doing good on pre-op diet. Only thing that's tough is that I am a home health speech therapist and I'm at their houses and I smell their cooking. I show up in the morning and they are cooking breakfast, noon and its lunch, and after 5 and its dinner. That's killing me but I'm holding strong. This is my second day of the pre-op.

I made it. Got my sleeve and had a hiatal hernia repaired too. Pain was rough on waking up but now has calmed down. Really haven't had any gas pains. Just really groggy from anesthesia and probably morphine too. I have a pain pump I can press every 10 minutes. Just sucking on I've chips now. Walked the hallway twice. First time barely made it past my door but second time waked almost half the hallway. Last post for pre-op. Catch you all on the flip side. Courage you all can do this!!!

On my way. Scared and a little emotional. Oh and with a headache. I couldn't sleep at all last night. See you all later.

On my way to the hospital

Just got hooked up to IV's. Gave me antibiotics and a shot in my tummy to prevent blood clots. Have a heater attached to my gown to keep warm. Have 2 finish 2 IV bags and meet with doctors before they wheel me in. -
Any 3/4 sleevers starting.....

Protein is essential to keep muscle. If you don't eat protein and go on a very strict diet your own body will begin to break down your muscle for energy. Plus protein keeps you full longer than carbs. -

My surgery is almost here. It was moved from the18th to the 19th. Can't hardly sleep now as it is. Tomorrow I get to have one small breakfast and then I'm on clear liquids for the rest of the day. I also get to do the magnesium citrate. Woo Hoo! Not. Surgeon said on Tuesday I will be hooked up to 2 IV's since I did clear liquids and the magnesium citrate the day before. Good luck to everyone!!

I'm using this weekend to clean my house top to bottom and organize. I just want everything to be easy for me as I recover. Any suggestions as to what else I need to do around my house to help make my life easier during my recovery?

I went to my pre-op visit yesterday. They gave me an incentive spirometer. I have to take 10 breaths per hour up until surgery. Supposed to help with healing and avoiding pneumonia. Anybody else get one before surgery?

Wow I only have to drink one bottle of magnesium citrate on Monday night before my surgery. -
Woo Hoo! Surgeon is really happy with me!

Just did my pre-op visit. Surgeon is really pleased with me losing 10lbs. My blood pressure rocked at 118/76. Haven't had a BP reading like that in forever. Scared but excited. Surgery is going to be on the 19th at 9 am. I arrive at 6 at Foundations hospital. Only bad thing is I have to drink Magnesium Citrate the night before. Oh well at least it's not a colon prep. Yay for me!! -
Can't sleep. Have pre-op appointment tomorrow. They changed my surgery date from the 18th to the 19th and changed my hospital. Well see how it goes tomorrow.

Surgery moved from 18th to the 19th. Not too bad but at least I'm going to the fancy shmancy hospital now. My friend went to it and she said they really cater to you there. So that's a positive. But it means one more day on the pre-op diet. Oh well it could be worse.

weight gain during 6 month waiting period
Susie1226 replied to dreamonique's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have BCBS and I did 3 months of weights management. I didn't lose but gained bc of the holidays. Luckily there was no specific weight loss requirement. I guess it just varies. -
Pre-op diet and the smell of food
Susie1226 replied to Susie1226's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
My pre-op is 2 weeks. 2 Protein shakes and I small meal. I have done pretty well. First day I was starving. 2nd day I had headaches, third day I felt really good and the fourth day I was light headed. Now I'm ok except today for whatever reason I was super hungry. Water has helped me. I find if I drink at least one flavored water either crystal light or propel it helps with the hunger. Fools my tummy into thinking it got some food bc of the flavor. Other than that it gets better. It's tough but hang in there. Oh and the higher the protein count on the shake the longer I felt not necessarily full but at least not hungry. Premier Protein with 30 grams filled me up better than EAS with 17 grams. Good luck. -
No insight for you but I can commiserate. Going through the same thing right now.

Just in case. Lean cuisine recall bc of glass fragments. They have a best before date of December 2013. It's for the mushroom mezzaluna ravioli. Target and Wal-mart state they didn't sell that particular tray.

You can do it. That's my plan too. I've been on it since Monday. I have my surgery on the 18th. I have lost 10 lbs already and that feels pretty good. The first 3 days were tough but I feel pretty good now. I have found that my relationship with food has changed. Now I really don't care what I eat as long as the hunger goes away. Plus I'm not as hungry as before. I even went to Costo on sample day and didn't sample. I went with my nephew to Wendy's and watches him eat without breaking my diet. It's worth it. You can do it. I do premier Protein shakes and one small dinner. Lots of Water and I find flavored water helps satisfy me more than plain. I drink a Propel flavored water at least once a day with my regular water. It has no sugar and no calories. Tastes good too. Good luck!!

Love it. Saving episodes on my DVR for my recovery at home after the surgery.
