I asked after a month after my surgery if I could drink because it was my 30th birthday, I couldn't make it through a milestone like that, that I couldn't drink... I am fine. My surgeon said, "your weight loss will slow down..." I have discovered that vodka and DIET OCEAN SPRAY CRAN-GRAPE OR CRAN-POMEGRANATE juice helps. My weight loss has not slowed, just happened. Y'all need to be informed!! Drink!!! It's awesome!! Just don't substitute your FOOD addiction for alcohol.... Alcohol can still be enjoyed, just don't over do it. Love all my VSG family!

Alcohol and 2 weeks post op!
lovemyself2012 replied to sarahzamudio1091's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked my surgeon if I could drink at a month out. He said it was fine, would just slow the weight loss. As far as negative effects, if you're not careful you will end up with a drinking problem because you're substituting your food addiction for alcohol. It doesn't effect you any stronger or faster than anyone else due to no intestinal redirection like the bypass. I have not noticed any difference... Just not able to drink as much or as fast as I used to... Good luck and be careful!!!!! -

I know I just posted a little while ago, but I truly earns share my weight loss journey. I started in high school taking fen-phen and lost almost 50 lbs. didn't keep it off. My biggest was 278, at 5'2 and I was miserable. Was going to WLS and didn't. Lost 100 lbs by myself. Then got fat again, and finally took the plunge!! I am SICK AND TIRED of having insecurity problems because of how I "look"... I now have "insecurity" issues because of my life situations. Feels WAY different than image problems. I am sooooooooooo confused. Can anyone help????

Awwwww, thank you!! That's a lot if the reason I did what I did to be more attractive to him. He's my world aside from my 4 kids. I wanna be HOT for him all the time. I already am, I just need to enhance on what I've already got, ya know?? -

Plastic surgery...

I didn't go through what I went through to look at myself in the mirror like, "um gross, you look like somebody put you through a taffy-pull..." -
Plastic surgery...
lovemyself2012 replied to lovemyself2012's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
My father said the same thing. He had gastric bypass like almost 20 years ago and said I should consider waiting to let my skin "catch up". So I'm waiting as long as possible. Anyway, I want the plastic surgery where they pretty much cut you in half, and pull your lowers up like pants, and pull the upper pants down like a shirt. MAKE ME FEEL BETTER!!! That's all I'm worried about!!! -
I had my vertical gastric sleeve on July 9, 2012. I have lost 70 lbs since then. I am happier with me than I have been my whole life. However, there's issues I'm dealing with that I am having trouble with. I've plateaued this last month and my hair is falling out like CRAZY!! Anybody have this at 6 months post-op?? I haven't lost a pound!!
-
Oh I hear ya. I wanted to lose another at least 20 lbs, but I'm totally okay with where I am now. Love it!! Just wanna lose the skin...

I just had a big glass of Long Island iced tea and a margarita. And now I'm home drinking vodka and cranberry juice. It's obviously a person-to-person basis. I am fine, and I drink rather quickly most of the time and I'm cool. Of course I've been drinking for awhile. I'm sorry hope everything works out for you!! Just don't substitute your eating addiction for alcohol!! I've done that and it's a rough road!!

First Real Stall at 5 Months
lovemyself2012 replied to DEZ1975's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm at a little over 6 months and haven't lost an ounce. Apparently at 6 months that happens, and then at 9 months the losing happens again. -
Great job!! My friend from high school just had the sleeve done on New Year's Eve and she's down 30 lbs already!! Don't ever short change yourself!! Only the strongest people can go through something like this!! MAJOR LIFE CHANGE!!
-
My hair falls out UNMERCIFULLY!!! It scares me!! I've had nightmares about it!!!
-
I still have my gallbladder because I REFUSED to have it removed or take the medication to prevent gallstones since "it's only preventative instead of for reals". I LOVE where I am. I think if I lost anymore I'd look silly. I'd rather sacrifice my life of eating to eat minimally now to be happy with myself for once!!!! After 30 years!!!
-
And @clk that opinion only matters if you've ha gastric bypass. We haven't had intestine removed any intestine, so the absorption isn't at ALL like them. We CAN drink. Just not that fast...
-
However I drink hard alcohol other than wine...
-
I have drank since a month out. I haven't slowed down weight loss wise at all; except for the stupid choices I make food wise. It's all good!! My surgeon says go back to liquids if you wanna lose again.

Plastic Surgery covered by Medi-Cal?
lovemyself2012 posted a topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Does anyone know if Medi-Cal covers tummy tucks or the reconstructive surgery for post-op sleevers? I live in California, and don't know if it's covered...
