interesting post op factoid about eating
kiki1196 replied to Fiddleman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, that's an interesting point. Stopping when satisfied is difficult for so many of us. This is a good point to remember when trying to learn to stop before getting full. -
3 large chicken breasts Franks Red Hot sauce (amount depends on how spicy you want it) A little butter Cook until it easily shreds. My family puts it on rolls for buffalo chicken sliders with blue cheese dressing on top. I just eat the chicken. Yummy! I save some and eat it for lunch the next couple of days.

I have an embarassing question...
kiki1196 replied to JessicaAnn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Does it feel any different? Like the skin is more tough or leathery? My doc said its a sign of obesity but does go away with weight loss. I'd have it checked out though. Best of luck! -
Confused by measurements vs pounds
kiki1196 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In the last month I've lost 9 pounds but in the same timeframe I've only lost 2 inches. The pounds are pretty typical but I'm usually losing more inches than that in a month, like 6-8. Anyone have any theories? Am I losing muscle instead of fat? -

Congrats!!! Welcome to the sleeve world! -
Congrats! You truly are an inspiration for me and so many others.

I will never let my daughter shop there again! That's disgusting!!

Thank you for the post, Fyre! I was needing some inspiration today and you gave it to me! Great story!!

I understand your pity party, having had a few myself. It does get better and you will go out again. My birthday wasn't too long ago and we met friends at a favorite Mexican place. I ordered a small bowl of refried beans. To my great surprise they put a lit candle in my bowl of beans and sang me Happy Birthday. My point is, just because what we eat has changed, fun times have not. The head hunger will go away soon and you will scoff at some of your old unhealthy favorites. It really does get better and it won't be that long before it does. Best wishes!

Good luck! You will do great. Get lots of rest and walk, walk, walk!

2.5 months out 41 pounds gone forever
kiki1196 replied to jacee's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats! My surgery was the day before yours and I'm down 30 since surgery (40 including pre-op). Lots of stalls for me too. I may be a slow loser but its still so wonderful to lose that much weight in such a short amount of time. I too have a superman sleeve. I control my portions and focus on Protein but nothing but white bread, Pasta and rice are out. It's great. Good luck on the rest of your journey! -
Im stalled at 195 or 194

I think that's a good plan. If you are getting dehydrated your body is going to hold on to all it can. At least that's my understanding. -

Gotta bill for my surgery...
kiki1196 replied to 1stBabeBorn5th's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My insurance paid 90% and my 10% came out to about $3500 after a negotiated price from $40,000 to $35,000. That 40 grand was a lot higher than I expected but I love my surgeon and the hospital so I wouldn't change a thing. -
At least they found something to work with. I'm sure your dr will find the answer. Is it possible your first, not so nice, surgeon did something wrong? Or do they think it developed post op?

How's your water intake? That makes a big difference. Mine broke after upping my water and, weird enough, being "forced" to eat 1/3 of a hamburger. I wouldn't recommend that though -
Esophageal Spasms
kiki1196 replied to jacquelynn.mclean's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There was another person on here that had them and she took some kind of medication her dr. gave her. Not sure what it was though. -
Itching around the incisions is normal. Mine itched a lot. It's just a sign of the healing process.

Egg drop soup?
kiki1196 replied to jessica bowling's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I strained it as well that early out. Was still very good. -
No drain, no catheter, no vomiting for me. Didn't even have horrible gas pains. Don't worry, I know it's hard not to, believe me I did enough worrying for all of us. Everyone has different experiences but most of us came out ok. It's a great new life!

I'm a little over 2 months out. We went to In and Out out of "necessity" I had less than half of a hamburger and was completely satisfied. It felt good to not scarf down the whole thing. Funny thing is the next day my stall broke! I don't recommend it for anybody, including myself, doing it very often but it's good to know it can be an option once in awhile.

Now I want a waffle! Thank goodness we don't have any in the house or it would have already been eaten Congrats on your strong will power!!

I'm going through the exact same thing! It's very frustrating to have lost so much weight in the beginning then nothing for weeks! I may not have been perfect but I never go over 700-800 calories and get in all of my protein. Everyone on here says it will break but its tough to not know when or if at all. What if I'm the exception and this won't work for me??
