    Very tight schedule

So I'm starting grad school soon and up until now I haven't had to worry about making meals around a set schedule such as work or school. I start on Monday and I'm a little worried that I won't have time to make the meals I usually take the time to make. Any quick lunch/dinner suggestions/recipes for someone 6 months post-op?
  2. I'm 4 months post-op as of yesterday! I want to stay away from starches, but I'm also completely sick of eating either fish or beans for dinner. So sick of both! Any ideas/recipes for dinner are very welcomed. I'm also wondering if anyone ate regular cereal around this time like honey bunches of oats because bran just seems too gross.

what is your favorite snack post op

I'm 4 months post-op too! I'm all about the string cheese! I use the Weight Watchers string cheese and it's really good. I've yet to eat fruits because I know the sugar content in them are really high. Sometimes I have some Chobani Greek yogurt which is the best.

    California? Anyone...ツ

I'm in the San Bernardino area. I had my surgery on December 5th.
  5. I get so freakin thirsty after I eat, so I drink crystal light or water after. I know we're not supposed to drink 30 minutes before or after we eat but it's so difficult. Anyone else have this issue?
  6. I can handle spicy I sometimes make my Beans a little on the spicy side. My sodium intake is pretty low.
  7. Surprisingly enough I completely stopped drinking while I'm eating. I thought it was going to be hard but it really isn't. My only issue lies with the fact that I get thirsty right after I'm done eating so I tend to drink after I've eaten.
  8. I'm a few days away from being 4 months post-op and I think I'm doing pretty well. I'm just seriously lacking in the food variety department. I could count the things I only eat on one hand: beans, cat fish, chobani, weight watchers string cheese, and egg beaters (egg substitute). Wow I really was able to count them all on one hand! haha..so I'm in need of some guidance as to what kind of things to eat so I could mix things up a bit because I am sick of always eating either beans of cat fish for dinner. I know that Kaiser guidelines said I could have ground beef by now but I am really afraid of not losing my weight so I'm staying away from the heavy meats. Also, has anyone else been able to eat a little more than they did initially after the surgery? I'm able to eat a little more than like a month after the surgery I just worry it's because I'm stretching out my stomach. My biggest fear has become stretching out my stomach. Anyone else feel this way?

In need of nighttime snack ideas

Premier chocolate protein shakes keep me full longer and they help with my sweet tooth, too. They're sweet and not chalky like some protein shakes tend to be. When you're able to, I highly suggest eating Chobani Greek yogurt with fruit in it and get the little cup ones because it's easier to control your portions that way. They're freakin delicious.

    Am I on track?

This has definitely been a worry of mine. I was 351 when I went in for my consultation then the day of the surgery I was 326 because my surgeon asked me to lose about 15-20 pounds before the surgery. My surgery was on December 5th and my last weighing was March 16th and I was 263 pounds. I just feel like with how everyone has described their weight loss that I should be losing more. I think the way we're thinking is gonna discourage our progress. Every person really does lose weight differently even with the help of the surgery. I know that my biggest issue is getting more activity in my daily life even with work and school. You're doing great so just keep looking at how much closer you're getting to your goal weight.

7 mos out 123 lbs down

Really hope to see myself in your position in 6 months. Very inspiring. Congrats on such an achievement.
  12. I'll just imagine the Beans I'm eating (everyday!) are a beautiful piece of steak with a side of fries and ranch (yummm). My mom had this the sleeve done December 28, 2011 and I had mine done December 5, 2012. I thought that seeing her go through it first would help me, but I just don't know how she did it. It's like an Alcoholics Anonymous type of deal: One day at a time. I just miss that heartiness of a good meal. The type of meal where it doesn't come in a baby-sized bowl. Heck, I miss sitting down at the dinner table with my family. I haven't eaten with them since the surgery. A couple reasons being that they tend to eat quite quickly and that I hate seeing the food they eat because I miss it. I've also been getting afraid that I'm stretching my stomach because of my liquid intake. I feel and notice that I'm able to take in more liquids in a sitting than I was in the beginning. I sip small sips, but I sip them constantly. Should I worry about stretching? Last time I checked I lost about 37 pounds, which I hope is a good indicator of my surgery. Had a small milestone today when I baked a cake for my family and made them my "famous" spaghetti (that I love to eat). Hard part about it was of course not being able to taste what I was cooking to make sure it was good so my mom had to add a lot of stuff to it because I didn't know what it was missing. Made me feel a tad bit incompetent. I find that when I cook I'm not missing the food as much. It's the part where everyone gets to eat what I cooked that bums me out. I usually just leave the room so I won't think about it. I know a lot of you are probably months or years post-op. I just want to know how you handled these kind of problems. Any help is really appreciated.
