  1. Thank you all for the ideas. I will talk to my doctor about iron infusions. I really need to find something that I can tolerate post-op because I know it will only get worse after the sleeve. If you can't tolerate the oral iron, can you get periodic iron infusions? If so, how often would you need them?

    On my way....finally!

    Congratulations! Good luck!
  3. thanks, I will try that
  4. I agree that you should see your doctor. It sounds a little like a possible stricture (I have heard others describe on here - take with a grain of salt as I'm pre-op).

  7. What a great list! Here's mine: 1) go caving in the "wild" part of Mammoth (maximum chest circumference = 44 inches) 2) SCUBA certification 3) be able to snorkel without asthma attack 4) buy lingerie at Victoria's secret 5) indoor rock climbing 6) be able to excercise without needing ibuprofen 7) be able to sleep through the entire night (without waking up 10 -15 times because my back hurts or I can't breathe)! 8) wear my wedding ring 9) horseback riding on the beach 10) get to Onederland!
  8. I had an appointment with my internist today. He was VERY supportive of me having the sleeve procedure. He listed all the ways I would benefit. Don't know why, but it really made it seem real to me that I am going to do this and that I'm definitely doing the right thing. I have all my pre-op appointments scheduled over the next 2 weeks - seems like things are starting to move along very quickly. I have gone from indecision, to trepidation and now all I feel is excited.

    Ignore user?

Thanks so much for telling us about this - found it at my local Brookshire's yesterday and it's delicious!
  10. One of the pre-surgical goals I was given by my team is: "Take chewable or liquid Multivitamin and Calcium citrate supplements daily" (this becomes 2x/day post-op) Does anyone know why I can't just take my regular multivitamin tablets, and why would I need to start calcium pre-op? Also, what are the best tasting/least nauseating Multivitamins?

    Ignore user?

This is driving me crazy - please give a hint To me, some of the most entertaining threads are those that contain blatant ignorance or infuriating opinions - is that wrong? Also - can I get a seat at the cool table?
  15. I'm 5'4'', 242 pounds, 45 years old and live in Texas, too! I hope to have surgery in July at Methodist, Dallas. I would like to keep in touch with both of you because we all seem to be starting at about the same place.

Future Darwin Award winner right there! I guess she never made it through middle school, or she would have heard of chlorophyll.
  17. I posted on another forum on this site a few days ago. I was trying to get a support group together for RA and other autoimmune disorders. I'm pre-op and am very happy to see that you seem to be doing better post-op. I typically take about 1800mg of ibuprofen daily (I know, I know), and it terrifies me how disabled I might become if I can't take NSAIDs post-op. Any advice, encouragement will be greatly appreciated. I have decided to have faith that as my obesity decreases, my inflammatory levels will decrease, and my hands and feet will not be as swollen and painful.
  18. Thanks for sharing this link! I think it looks about like me if I add an extra 20 pounds to it.

    Unapologetic Brag Post

gorgeous! congratulations and thanks for the inspiration!
  20. Hi all - I am still pre-op, and one of my greatest concerns is becoming wheelchair bound from my RA if I can't take NSAIDs. I would love to hear from others with this or similar conditions, and perhaps start a support group,
