    Bcbs il diet requirements

I haven't been approved yet (finishing up requirements), but I have BCBS IL and you're right, no pre op diet requirement. I just have to follow whatever my surgeon requires. Also need nutrition counseling and psych eval. Your BMI is high enough, too. (You need a BMI of 40 or 35 with co-morbidities). I have been paying my co-pays at doctor visits but I don't know how much the surgery out of pocket will be. Sorry if that's not too much help

    Congratulations!!!
  7. Has anyone here used Dr. Preeti Malladi in Dallas and/or had surgery at Methodist Dallas? If so, any feedback? Also - anyone in the Methodist support group that meets in Mansfield?
  8. I'm so glad you are happy with her - and thanks for your response I have actually changed surgeons since this post. Nothing against Dr. Malladi - she's great, I just changed due to some other health issues. Good luck with your sleeve! Keep me posted! (I may have mine in Dec or Jan). Brenda
  9. Outstanding! You look great - congratulations!!!

    Bcbs partial approval

It looks like you have been approved for the sleeve surgery, but not have have your esophagus and stomach looked at with an endoscope.
  11. I had my EGD today. I had one 1 1/2 years ago due to abdominal pain, nausea and severe anemia (which required multiple IV Iron infusions). At that time, I had mild gastritis, mild esophagitis and a hiatal hernia. Today, the esophagitis was the same, but the gastritis is now level B (was A before - D is the worst) even though I've been taking my PPI. They also found stomach polyps and biopsied them. I had never even heard of stomach polyps before someone on here posted that they had been found on her EGD last week. I know I'm probably over-reacting, but I'm scared. I'm not even sure I should get the surgery since my "parts" aren't healthy like I'd hoped. GI doctor doesn't seem too keen on me having surgery - but I think he may be just against it in general. All my other doctors are for it (of course, they don't know the EGD results yet). BTW - I have been planning on getting the sleeve even with the GERD because of my RA and need for NSAIDs and steroids. Please let me know what you think Thanks, Bree
  12. Thanks for all the good wishes and prayers! The polyps are benign! (Happy dance) . I'm so thankful! I see my surgeon this Thursday and will see what he says about this and ramifications for surgery.
  13. Thanks, @@RedDirtRoads - that is very kind of you. Getting biopsy results today and will let you know! I'm in good spirits,

  15. Just updated my iPhone to the new version. Can't even use it. It freezes my phone up each time I look at a thread. I guess I won't be logging on except when I'm home now
  16. Oh my KeeWee. I am so sorry. I really hope they can control your reflux with medication. Will be thinking of you and wishing you well. Please keep us posted. (((Hugs))) Ps - You may want to do an internet search on the Linx procedure for gastric reflux - may be a long shot - but possibly an alternative to bypass if you can find a surgeon on your area who is certified and if your insurance will approve it. Don't know if they are doing it in sleeve patients or not.
