protein bars with only 2.5 net carbs & ZERO sugar
SKgirl27 replied to KristieAtkinson's topic in Food and Nutrition
Sugar alcohols are not good for you at all. Especially that high of an amount. They also often cause dumping syndrome in WLS patients- but everyone's different. -

$30 of products for $10 at Bariatric Choice
SKgirl27 replied to HatheryOnHerWay's topic in Food and Nutrition
Yes I love bariatric choice as well. Your statement though is wrong. Every time you order you gain rewards points. If someone has never ordered from there before they have no rewards points. You have to make orders to get points thus "discounts". Max my rewards credits means to use up all of your reward points gained from previous orders. -

Hello everyone. I am on here frequently.. Reading posts.. And I have to say there are three complaints/attitudes that I can't stand hearing about on here. Sorry for the rant but sometimes you have to tell it straight. 1. The "oh I just got sleeved a few weeks ago and I've stopped loosing weight.. What's wrong with me??!" Well first off obviously you did not read the hundreds of other posts from people complaining about the exact same thing! Stalls are normal and they will pass. If you think the weight is just going to fall off overnight you are sadly mistaken. 2. The "when can I eat pizza/drink pop or other *insert obviously unhealthy meal item here*??" Really you must have missed the part about this being a lifestyle change! If you continue your same eating habits you are going to get your exact same results. Just because you have WLS doesn't mean all those empty calories you choose to consume are just going to disappear. Your setting yourself up for failure. 3. The "I've stopped loosing weight.. Oh by the way I DON'T excercise" ok now this one seriously bugs me. I am pretty sure EVERYONE was given the same information about adopting some form of physical activity after getting sleeved. It's required to help you loose weight, tone that saggy skin and maintain your weightloss when you get to goal.. If your telling yourself "I just don't love exercising" then you are FOOLING YOURSELF. No one loves excercising! It will get easier after a while and more enjoyable sure. "But my bad knee/shoulder" oh boo hoo everyone can do some form of excercise even if its just walking or even chair excersises. If a 30 year old man born with NO ARMS AND NO LEGS can find it in him to play golf, swim, and play soccer then I'm pretty sure you can do some form of excercise! (See attached inspirational video) So to sum up my rant.. NOTHING WORTH DOING COMES EASY! It takes work and the right attitude to be successful! http://www.oprah.com/oprahs-lifeclass/How-Nick-Vujicic-Triumphed-Against-All-Odds-Video

I'm not trying to insult anyone but its very annoying when you see the same posts being asked constantly. Sure it may not affect people who have recently joined to see these posts but after you have been reading the boards a while it gets extremely repetitive. How many times do you have to tell people to follow their doctors orders? I can't help those who can't help themselves.

You may not like my method of delivery but I will not sugar coat the information on this one. True there are newbies on the site.. But I am pretty sure everyone can see the "search" in the upper right hand corner.

1. They want to change you 14,000$ to send you to Mexico for surgery when you can go on your own and pay only $4000-$5000 2. They send you to Dr.Pompa who I have read a few stories on the boards about her screwing up surgeries and about the patients having to get additional surgeries to get the issues fixed. I'm not saying anyone should or should not go through WLF I am just saying these are the reasons I chose not too.

Hey hicktownchick! I'm from saskatoon. Sleeved march 1st this year. About half way to goal so far
-
Hey Canadagirl! Things are going will for me I am half way to goal! Whoo hoo ! Yea I did not tell my friends or coworkers either.. Only a select few family members know.. I think when people hear "weight loss surgery" they think its "cheating" or something. They don't see the day to day struggle to still loose weight. I agree a listening ear is important I am friends online with another girl who had surgery the same day as me. We have became close comparing our adventures so far lol. So glad to hear though that there are others out there from Saskatoon!!
-
Hey I'm from Saskatoon too! I did not go to Dr.Alvarez but he was high on my list! I also read his book which is pretty good. I too did NOT go through WLF and have no support group. I'm 24 working full time.

Hey! I'm from saskatoon how are you ?
-
Yes that's normal. I have been told 600-800 cal a day during weight loss period 1000-1200 in maintenance. I too struggle with keeping it under 800 cal a day. Go for the leanest meats & seafood possible. I have found so far turkey, bison, and salmon have the best bang for your buck so too speak with protein vs calories per ounce

Why am I gaining?!?!
SKgirl27 replied to bradycone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your body will do weird things post op especially at 3 weeks post op. your body is in shock from everything.. Try not to weigh more than once or twice a week.. It will drive you crazy. Make sure your getting enough liquids in too -

I am so frustrated with trying to get my carb levels down my doctor recommends 60-80g carbs per day but it does not specify how I'm suppose to keep them that low. I am using Lose It! App to track my food intake. I know many of you use My Fitness Pal and maybe the tracking is different on that App. I know many of you say you keep your carbs as low as 40g a day or I have even heard 10g a day. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? For example did you know that one little apple has 25g carbs?? So what are you guys out there eating- MEAT only!? No fruits or veggies or whole grains? I am just so scared I am going to fail at this :,(! I have not had a single "bad carb" for months so i know my high carb levels are not from that. Oh and my protein levels are fine usually 70g or more a day. What am I doing wrong? Are you fellow sleevers not counting the good carbs in the total carb count or what??
-
Loseitsoon & kalimomof3 is that net carbs you are stating or total carbs? Thanks Also is there a certain amount to which ones diet is considered "low Carb" like under 100g a day is in the low carb category or what classifies as being officially a "low carb" diet?
-
Thanks for the reply. I guess I have to just eat more meat and cheese haha.
-
But how? I don't get it.
-
I'm not eating any bad carbs - no bread, rice, pasta, crackers - nothing and I still have a high carb count. My guess is then if everyone is keeping such a low carb count they must not be eating much fruit or veggies? Meat only I'm guessing?
-
I went to the website.. Nothing on OA or online meetings. Do they still hold these meetings?

Low Bmi'ers...how Long To Goal?
SKgirl27 replied to Carrie's Journey's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hi everyone. I was sleeved march 1st. I was 224 when I applied, 212 day of surgery and today at 7 weeks out I'm 186. My question for the successful lowbmi losers: How many calories do u eat in a day? I'm between 600-800 How many carbs in a day? I've been told 50-75mg. Keep in mind some carbs are needed to avoid ketosis. How much & what kind of excersise do you do? Help me out. Thanks
