I haven't tried them yet but have potatoes in my pantry ready to go. I tried moist fish and mushy roasted brussel sprouts again tonight and they went down much easier. Tiny bites and lots of chewing. I ate over 4 hours ago and I'm still full. It's crazy how my hunger has pretty much disappeared. Need to get my protein up still. Gonna try a scrambled egg again tomorrow for breakfast. Wish me luck.....

Cigna's new approval process
MizzouGirl replied to PGee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I must have just made it under the old Cigna rules. Had my sleeve on 5/31! -
Hi All-the transition to soft foods has been a bit bumpy for me. I tried an egg yesterday morning and that sat like a brick in my tummy causing discomfort for about 2 hours. Today I tried some moist, baked flounder and very soft brussel sprouts and my stomach took some offense but a tad easier than the egg. Cottage cheese has been going down pretty easy. Gonna revert back to liquids tomorrow then try again on Tue. Hope everyone had a great weekend and nice Fathers Day.

How long was your hospital stay?
MizzouGirl replied to LittleDooker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved at 8:30am on Friday (5/31) and left around 2:30pm on Sunday so just over 2 days. In addition to the sleeve, I also had my gallbladder removed. Other than when I woke up from surgery, I had very little pain and only a couple bouts of mild nausea. The first few days were rough for me because my stomach would seize when I drank anything -- didn't really hurt but very uncomfortable. This is normal and has gone away for the most part. I haven't thrown up and the mild nausea stopped for me about 36 hours after surgery. Everyone is different so it's good to know the possibilities. -
What's your calorie intake?
MizzouGirl replied to Reigo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 2 weeks and 1 day out and I'm getting 600-800 calories/day - just transitioned to soft foods yesterday. I want to get to 1000-1200/day so I have the energy to start working out with my personal trainer again. -
100.9 temp 4 days postop
MizzouGirl replied to rk62's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ran a fever about a degree over normal for the first week after surgery. Was told to go to the ER if it reached 101 or higher. It went away a week to the day of my surgery. I agree with the advice of the previous posters. Just wanted to chime in as I also worried about my post op fever. -
Hi All - I noticed several people don't have their food diary set to be viewable by friends. It's most helpful to me to see what everyone else is eating so if you would be willing to change your diary to be viewable, I would greatly appreciate it. Just go to "Settings" "Diary Settings" and scroll down to the bottom and select "Friends Only" under Diary Sharing. Thanks!!!

I just made this today for lunch. It was super yummy: Ricotta bake 8 oz of Ricotta cheese 1/2 cup grated Parmesan 1 large Egg, beaten 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning salt & pepper to taste 1/2 cup Marinara Sauce 1/2 cup shredded Mozzarella Cheese Mix ricotta cheese, parmesan, beaten egg, seasonings together and place in a oven proof dish. Pour marinara on top and top with mozzarella cheese. Bake it in the oven @ 450 for about 20-25 minutes (best) or nuke it till hot and bubbly. I usually made it first in the oven and heated the leftovers in the microwave.

I made this for lunch today and it was really yummy!! I figured it was about 6oz if I divided it into 6 equal servings. I was able to eat 6oz but my tummy didn't full embrace it (a little discomfort towards the end). This was the first thing I ate since I moved to "soft foods" today so I'm sure it just needs to get used to something other than the liquids I've been feeding it for 2.5 weeks. I will try some more tomorrow. Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!!!

That recipe sounds yummy-I'm going to make it this week as well as the crab ball recipe I received off line from Kalissa.

Surgery day--what to take with me?
MizzouGirl replied to huligoo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I packed some jammies, t-shirts and shorts and didn't use any of them. It was easier just wearing the nightgown provided by the hospital. I did bring my own toiletries but everything was furnished by the hospital so I didn't need to. Might want to ask the nurse who calls you to pre-register what is provided in the room. I read on here to bring chapstick so I did but didn't really need it. Baby wipes were nice as I could use them to clean up. And, definitely phone and charger - I didn't need much other than that. Good luck!!! -

When I was in the hospital, the nurse told me about a patient who decided to eat pasta 2 weeks post surgery. The person came into the emergency room with severe abdominal pain and they did everything possible but the patient passed away. They said that his stomach was full of pasta and had caused a leak that couldn't be repaired. The kicker - he was a nurse and should have known better. The story scared me to death and really emphasized the importance of following my surgeon's food plan. -

Not a chance I would do this. It won't be that long until regular food is back in my diet. I'm following my dr's orders without deviation. -
Good luck today at your Dr's appointment!!!!

Sounds just like me. I was so anxious about the surgery and then the night before, my husband took my "before" pictures and looking at them I just knew that I had to do this. I was scared to death on the drive to the hospital and the day after surgery I had a meltdown because it hurt so much to drink anything. I'm now 13 days post op and every day gets better. I've lost 24lbs including my pre-op diet (3 days) and that feels great!!!! Please know that your feelings are completely normal and that you will find the support here to help you get through all the bumps before and after surgery as well as lot's of folks who will be happy to cheer on your successes!!!!

Starting day 3 post op - am I behind schedule?
MizzouGirl replied to SueJH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 3 days post op, I probably got a little more water and a little less protein than you list but close. I'm 13 days post op and I'm still struggling to get all my protein and water but it gets a little better each day. You are doing great and know that each day, you will feel just a bit better and be able to do a little more!!! -
Did somebody say pizza and fries??????

I only had bruising low on my stomach where I received the blood thinner shots -- bad, ugly bruising. I'm 12 days post op and they are starting to fade a bit. No bruises from the actual surgery - guess I was lucky with that.

I make my transition from Full Liquids (puree) to soft foods on Friday. Looking forward to it but a bit anxious too. I haven't had any food issues so far. Hope it continues to go well for you!!!
