    For those who have PCOS

well in a way yes but it is painfully slow and you give up and end up gaining all the weight back again i did i cant remember how many times!!1 For me the lapband has been great as i have coontinued to loose weight and not gain it back again. I do disagree with your doctor ask another for more advice but i do disagree really as it has worked for me how ever much slower than alot of other people here: A personal struggle made easier with the lap band as a very helpful tool that you need to be dedicated to as a rule i never spend any money on any thing i am not going to get value out of and i definaltely have got value for money here best of luck

    For those who have PCOS

hi I was banded June of 2007 and i can say today the weight loss has been very slow but the key words are (weight loss): the way i see it it may be slow but at least it is coming off: I to have PCOS and Endo i have had a hystorectomy and do not have any ovaries either: Keep on keeping on all of you, as the weight took a life time to get there it willl take a while to come off: slow and steady wins the race

Hi All i too have been MIA!! well partly because I forgot what my log in and password was, I must admit my progress has been slow but the exciting thing is that the weight has stayed off (in the past winter has been my worst time but this year for the first time I have lost) (( thanks to my SLAGS group !!! S stands for Slightly Larger Arse and Gutts ) they have been great ))and the weight is continuing to come off: for me this is the hare and the tortoise thing slow and steady winds the race and as far as i am concerned the weight took a life time to get here so be it if it takes a while to get off!!!! more late

    For those who have PCOS

Hi I have had a hystorectomy, and in two separate operations i have also had my ovaries removed not because it was recomended but because it was nessesary, i had vary large cysts on the 12cm by 12cm, i also have pcos and i am lap banded and at the monent i am feeling very frustrated as my weight has come to a grinding halt, i seem to have hit a plateau i have metformin in my cupboeard so i think i will weigh my self and start taking it as see how this might help, So in answer to your question a hystorectomy and ovaries removed I am 33 does not end the pcos ( insulin resistance) ho ever i am on HRT patches now to give me estrogen I hope this helps Ange

    Lapband And Pcos

hi All i was banded on the 29th june 2007 abd my weight has come to a grinding halt, how ever i may be a little different to you all as i no longer have any ovaries, and uterus, I had surgery 2 years ago to remove one ovary that had a 12 cm by 12 cm cyst on it and the ovary and my uterus as it was fused to my bowel, I too was on metformin to help with weight loss, then i had my lap band surgery and the lap band surgeon gave me a picture of my other ovary with a huge cyst on it as well, so 2 months after lap band i had more surgery, the cyst larger than the first one so hence the other ovary could not be saved either, i now have no ovaries or uterus and have to be on HRt for 20 years at least, and still need to in a few months time have a bowel test (colonoscopy to check my bowel health,) My question for you all is since you have has your lap band surgery do you still take metformin??? I thought we were unable to still take it ??? due to the pill getting stuck? oh i have two wonderful children who asre 7 and 9 i am very lucky Please help ? Ange New Zealand :blushing:

Hi Tracey It sounds like you are doing very well, I can say this christmas was the first one I can remember that I did not stuff my self so full of food that I regretted eating !!! This christmas I felt good for the whole day and now I look at what every body else is eating and think wow that is a lot of food. ( my husband and I went for a walk and we enjoyed the day for what it is a day to spend with your family) my children also had a great day. The Band has been very good for me to slow down chew evey bite and chill out do not stress over food. I hope to keep in touch over this site for 2008 Cheers Ange

Wow it sounds like all of you guys are doing very well!! I am six months out from my operation and i am still training my self to eat slowly and not to eat to much, I find old habits die hard, Still cant eat bread and I do not think i will ever be able to. it gives me awful chest pain and feels like it is stuck. i find that things tend to get a little stuck when i am really hungry and do not chew properly 2008 is my year to shake most of this weight. Happy Christmas you guys will find it tough but just remember it is only one day out of a life time!!!!! :clap2:Ange

    June 2007 Bandsters

I am currently in the holdong pattern waiting for my first fill. although it is scheduled for 27th August. (Special;ists in NZ prefer to wait for healing before filling. when I had my surgery my specialist presented me with a picture of a Cyst !!! Bugger and then advised I do need to do something about it. So I made a appointment with my Gynae and she sent me for Ultra Sound , then I had to have a MRI scan (that MRI was awful) any way I went back to the gynae on Wed and she said that the cyst is the size of a tennis ball and it has to come out Grrrrr. I had had a hystorectomy last year and lost an ovary then so I only have one and it is doing over time growing. so they have booked my in for the 14th September I have no choice. I now feel frustrated cause if I did not have the surgery I would have no clue that I had a cyst.the only upside is I hope it weighs a lot i guess every little bit helps. My question is will I still be filled with my impending surgery ???? Does any one know.

    Restriction Issues

Hi I totally agree with all the statements here. I was banded in NZ on the 29th june and as yet I have not had a fill it feels like i dont have a band at all!!! i hope all is ok. the doctors in NZ are very cautious about doing any fills to early they want to wait for scar tissue to for properly aount the band. they have had success and nil slippages.

Hi All Good luck Beka this is something you will not regret. Louise: glad to hear you are doing so well. I did not have gas pains either and gave up very early on the pain meds becuse I hated the taste of them. I went back to the gym last night it was good to be back. no weights though just the bike and tread mill. My only problem with my surgery is that the surgeon found a ovarian cyst and has told me to go and see my doctor. This is a bummer I did not want more surgery. Best go now I need to take the children to school

    June 2007 Bandsters

Hi guys thanks very much for the advice, I think that the pain was gas. I feel so much better now. I went to see my surgeon today and he handed me a Photograph of a ovarian cyst. he advised me to call my gynecologist. I asked how big the cyst was and he said big. but he just waived the camera down there as a look around and found it. So monday I will be off to the doctor. I am a little worried
