surgery tomorrow 9 am! Jan 16.

I was a nervous wreck too. I didn't have any problems. It was smooth sailing. I wish you the best of luck in your surgery and recovery.
  2. I am only 5 weeks out today, so I've been where you are, but I am not an expert. I was on liquids for two weeks after surgery, then mushy/pureed for two weeks and this week I started solids. It does get easier. I had to make myself drink my shakes for the first few weeks. I have a hard time figuring out when I get full, the sensation comes very fast. I go from nothing to overfull very quickly.

5wks PO, and YES I regret

I think fish is pretty easy to get in also. Its very soft if you bake it in the oven.

    protein tracker

I use my fitness pal too. It will track your protein, your carbs, your sodium, calories etc. I love the scan feature where you can scan bar codes. I love the app!

What's the most difficult thing for you

I think getting my water in is the most difficult thing. I do OK on the protein.. Congrats on your loss, that's a huge amount of weight to lose in 4 weeks.
  6. Wow! It seems like they would go from your original BMI. That is horrible!

    Pumpkin Seeds (pepitas)

That sounds good, how much protein do they have? I haven't progressed to seeds and nuts yet, but I will at some point.

What can i eat at 2 weeks?

Just be careful and remember to eat slow. I still have issues figuring out when I am going to be full. I go from hungry to full very fast.

    Approved - Just waiting

Best of luck. This part was a hard part for me! I hated waiting, but honestly, they didn't keep me waiting that long. I had to do a 2 week liquid diet pre op too, so that kept me busy once I got my date.

2 week liquid diet killing me help.

No, not according to my doctor. No chunks of anything is what his diet was. I could have cream of chicken soup and cream of mushroom (light versions) and I had to strain them. Also, was allowed the tomato soup. I could have sugar free popsicles and sugar free Jello too. Your nutritionist should give you a sheet with what you are allowed. Have you received one or asked them for one?

    Jan 29th is THE day

I had my surgery a little over 4 weeks ago. I did not have any problems whatsoever. I was up walking the halls that afternoon and had minimal pain. I had a pain pump that I could use whenever I needed medicine that kept me very very comfortable . I was given liquid pain meds that I filled before my surgery so I would be prepared when I came home. I gained weight in the hospital due to fluids and post op swelling but it came off a few days after I came home. All in all the surgery was a breeze!! This is a tool for us to use with our weight issues. I plan to make the best use of mine!! Good luck to both of you and best wishes.

2 week liquid diet killing me help.

I had to do two weeks of liquids also. I found eating something HOT helped and I was allowed to have cream based Soups. I found that the most satisfying Soup for me was tomato soup made with low fat milk. It kept me fuller than the shakes and the warmth of it helped. The liquid diet helps your liver shrink down in size and makes your surgery easier to perform. I was allowed to have as much soup as I wanted in addition to the Meal Replacement shakes. One mistake I made in the beginning was thinking I could interchange the soups and the shakes, but I learned quickly that the shakes are MANDATORY, they are meal replacement and will help keep you full and give you Protein. The filler soups are for in between, but again, they helped me because they were warm. It got better after three consistent days of sticking with it. If you are struggling with hunger maybe your doctor will prescribe something for hunger. Call and talk to them about your struggles.
  13. You are looking MAHVUHLOUS!!

    Deep Empty Gnawing Feeling

Dana, I had this a few days after surgery and I was told that it was irritation or possibly an ulcer. I would call the office and tell them. They prescribed a medication for me that I was able to take for a few weeks, but then I had a reaction to it. Thankfully, that is all that I needed. I haven't had the sensation again.

    Surgeons in North Carolina

I used Dr V in Charlotte. He was great! I'm 4 weeks post op sleeve and I had a great surgery. I was in for one day. No complications. The office staff were very helpful all along the way. I couldn't have had a better experience!

    Scared. Having doubts

You can still taste food after surgery.......you just can't overeat. I am a little over 4 weeks out and I was afraid too. I have no regrets for having the surgery. I feel hunger sometimes, but its a different sensation. You will not be able to drink for a while and no carbonated beverages ever (well according to my doctor). I was told I could drink after 6 months. I have to answer a questionnaire when I go to my docs office for my post op visits and one of the questions on it is "I eat to live or I live to eat" you answer it on a 10 point scale.......I now answer it much closer to I eat to live than I did before my surgery. You should discuss these feelings with your nutritionist or attend a support meeting.
  18. Thanks I am going to call the nutritionist tomorrow. This was the PA telling me this at myu 4 week post op appt. I am going to verify with the nutritionist. I looked back through my book today that the office gave us, but I don't see "how many" calories to eat post op, just which foods at which weeks and how much protein.

I think my nightmare has come true.....

Hey Dana, So glad to hear back from you. I've been reading a lot on here and I am seeing that people are told different calorie amounts by their doctors and I am also seeing that its common to stop losing for 2-3 weeks after the third week......so I guess we are good. Its nice to know I am not alone, not that it makes you feel any better!! My surgery was 12/11, when was yours?
  20. That is what I was eating daily until I got fussed at for it. Now I am really confused.
  21. I talked to my doctor and they said to eat more than 1000. Yes. Its a struggle, but I am doing it.

I think my nightmare has come true.....

Dana, I am so glad to see your post. I am in the exact same situation. I am 4 weeks and 2 days post op. I have been bouncing between the same two pounds, up and down, for a little over two weeks. Very very disheartening. I was a little too open telling people about my surgery and now they are all asking me "how much have you lost" and I'm tired of explaining!!!! I know it will happen, but its very frustrating. I am using my fitness pal and logging all of my food and my Protein etc. It did help me see a few days ago that I was eating less than 1000 calories a day, so I am trying to get over 1000 calories per my physician. I still cannot get all of the liquids in on top of that, its one or the other, food or liquid. Kelly
