I never kept it a secret, but I am an open book for the most part. I'm a nurse and if I didn't tell my coworkers they would have thought I had a serious illness or something. I like to educate so I don't mind talking about it either. I feel I got more support with being upfront that I thought I would. I had only a few negative comments which were from family. You might be surprised how much support you might get.

Jealous ? Resentful ? Spouse just stunned the HELL out of me !

I am sorry your husband is not supportive or proud of you, you should be proud of your success. A husband should love you unconditionly and support you not belittle you or be embarrassed to be seen with you. It is sad that he is so insecure in himself he has to act like ass to feel better about himself- a real man would be proud of his wife and want to show it the world. I have been on both sides of that fence and I prefer to have a caring and loving husband who supports me. My ex husband was very much the same way and it made my self esteem go in the toilet. It is your life and you are the only one who can create happiness, don't give him the power to take it away. -

Yes, I had a sleeve done 1 year ago and how medicine is broken down was something I researched and talked to pharmacist about since I take thyroid meds. With a sleeve medicine is not absorbed any different or metabolized differently according to the pharmacist and doctor. I am also a Registered Nurse for ten years. My point was that standard practice with add meds is a long acting taken in the morning and if additional is needed then a short acting is used. Taking a long acting twice a day is not approved by the FDA and can cause complications with your heart.

Vyvanse twice a day?? That is odd because it's a long acting drug, meaning it's intended to be taken only once per day. If you need a short acting med Ritalin and Vyvanse are two different drugs that should not be combined. But if you are taking the vyvanse twice a day you can't add a short acting med. It's too much on your heart because both drugs are stimulants and affect the heart. Sorry as a RN it concerns me:)

kidrn72 replied to pottergirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am coming up on my 1 year 1/23 and in down 119 pounds:) I feel great, eat healthier, exercise. Moderation is the key for me!! Happy New Year!!! I am so glad I had WLS!! -
. I had a sleeve 1/23/13 and was on generic concerta prior to surgery for ADD and I still take it without any issues. Concerta is the long acting Ritalin. I don't like the short acting drugs that I have to take twice a day.

SERIOUS Business question for business people (not totally off topic)
kidrn72 replied to Cherry's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Being a professional and a woman I think both are frowned on. I am a nurse and wear scrubs most of the time but I have to wear business attire for court and meetings. I would never wear a tight shirt, nor would I show my tattoos and yes I have 3:) -
Nurses As Bariatric Patients
kidrn72 replied to LynRN's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
We nurses are care takers and tend to put ourselves last. I know many healthcare workers who have had Bariatric surg to improve their health. I know for me with working crazy hours taking care of patients and my family I left no time to care for me. I had WLS to take back control of my health. Now I put myself first so that I ca better care for others. -
For me I drink hot herbal tea in the evening which controls my hunger. Helps get extra fluids in too:)

How soon should I start documenting to try to get insurance to cover PS?
kidrn72 replied to BigHappy's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
My primary doc did this and I did get rashes and skin adhesions due to excessive skin under my breast. But my insurance which is Cigna refused to cover a breast lift/ reduction because it was considered cosmetics . I tried appealing it but was told my condition was not a life threatening condition and was not a covered procedure. So I said out of pocket for my breast surgery. Good luck getting insurance to cover. -

My sleeve was done 1/23/13 and I'm down 108# including pre op liquid diet. I am so thrilled about how much better I feel and the energy I have;). I do have some loose skin but my breast took the biggest hit so I consulted a plastic surgeon and had a breast lift without implants this week!! I am still 10 # from my goal and hope to achieve my goal by my 1 year anniversary. If I stayed at my current weight 160 and never lost another pound I still am happy with my results! -

Yes:) I am having my arms done and tummy tuck after the first of the year. -
Have you tried Melatonin?? It's natural and safe to take daily. My daughter's doc has her start taking about 3 years ago to help her since she has ADHD. I started using it last year and it really helps me feel relaxed and sleep better and feel related in the morning.
