vs24 replied to kathyhalls's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's excellent! I'll be 8 months on the 27th and am down 103. No running yet, but lots of biking. How are your legs and knees with running? -

Sleeved 2/27. Down 77lbs. II set a goal for myself early on. I didn't think I went too aggressive. I weight myself regularly, but don't chart anything until after my Wednesday morning weigh-in. Wednesday just happened to be the day of the week I had my surgery. The following is a simple Excel graph showing my target line (blue) vs actual weight (red). . -

Sleeved 2/27 Down 55lbs (10 of that was liquid diet 1 week prior). Buplee... you're doing well. My starting weight was 40lbs higher than yours... so %-wise (which is what really counts), you're doing great!! Don't sweat the stalls... you're probably losing inches. -

Finally... a male with about the same starting weight as I :-) As far as stalls.... not sure why folks fret about it. If you know you're not over-eating, then keep doing what you're doing. When you're stalled and still eating right, you're most likely losing inches. -

I love my hybrid bike (sort of a mix between road and mountain). I recommend Performace Bike, as they have good prices and good selections... and great help. There might be one in your area: http://www.performancebike.com -

Do you have a goal set for yourself? A date you'd like to hit that goal? I turn 50 in May of 2014. I set a target to hit my goal weight by that date. That's about 59 weeks from now to lose another 95 lbs. Based on what others have done, that's a very conservative target... so I won't disappoint myself with stalls throughout. I suggest you do something similar. I created a spreadsheet to set a weekly target weight and spread it out between now and target date. I suspect that my weight between now and then will go above and below my target line... but I'm treating that like the stock market. There will be ups and downs along the way, but the long term direction will be down. I'm in the midwest, and as soon as the weather turns, I'll be getting on my bike and riding. I hope to get in 750 miles this summer. It's the only exercise I really enjoy. I purchased my bike a few years ago and didn't skimp. Got myself a real nice hybrid bike that fits me like a glove and is very comfortable for me to ride. Don't worry folks.... just follow what your surgeon says and you'll do well long-term. -

Folks, I wouldn't adjust your diet at this point simply because you're at a stall. Stalls are normal. It's your body adjusting to your new weight. I bet during stalls if you measured inches instead of weight, that's where you'd see a change. Just don't worry and keep doing what you're supposed to do and the weight will come off. Again, You'll hit a few stalls during your weight loss journey. It's normal. -
Gastroparesis- Improvement after surgery?

Well, I heard it was supposed to help. Read here: http://columbiasurgery.org/news/healthpoints/2011_winter/p3.html -
Let us know how you're doing. I only stayed one night... but my 2 days after were uncomfortable with gas.
-
Well, all normal so far. Trust me, it gets better. I only stayed one night... but would have stayed 2 if my hospital room would have had a comfortable chair to sit in. It took me a couple of days to get the gas out. Once that happens, things improve quickly.

We're here for you. But, don't worry.... you'll be asleep and then you'll wake up 2 minutes later... or so it felt to me :-)

Well, base on what I read, everyone seems to be in the same ballpark. So... don't worry and keep on working. Also, I don't believe lbs is the way to compare one to another. % of total weight lost would be a more accurate comparison (I believe) as those who start at a higher weight tend to lose more. -

I was sleeve 2/27. Down about 27lbs... 10 pre and 17 post... although I've stalled for the past 4 days. -
I'm 12 days out. I have no problem getting water (with crystal light) down. In fact, you've got me worrying that I'm drinking too much. With the protein drink, I have to take a bit more time.
