That was not your last enjoyable meal. You will eat food again and you will be able to eat enchiladas. Just not a whole one. You will enjoy your food MORE later. Now you are eating because you are either happy, sad, mad, or whatever you are. Then you will be eating to LIVE! You will relish the taste of each morsel. This is your Renaissance. Your rebirth. Think of all the things you WILL be able to do without focusing on food. Think of all the time you will gain every day and all the years you will gain by being healthier. Daydream! Don't doubt yourself. You, like me, have obviously not been able to lose weight the way others can. There is no other option. This is the best decision you can make for you and your family. Don't give up!

Thank you for sharing all of this! But could you please elaborate on the strange body odors? Also, did they have you up and walking right after your surgery?

I am going to be sleeved on Valentine's Day! On day 3 of liquids. Ick. It's tough, but today seems to be easier. We CAN do this!

I'm originally from Huntsville, Alabama. I live in Arizona now.

Today is my first day on clear liquids for pre-op! I'm excited and scared at the same time. I just keep repeating that I CAN DO THIS! in my head. I have lots of support. I'm so glad that I get to stay home tomorrow and Sunday. I don't want to be mean to my students! LOL! Good luck to you. I'm being sleeved on Valentine's Day!

Today is my LAST day of food! I feel sad and mad and glad! I go to clear liquids tomorrow with 4 protein shakes per day with only water mixed in. Gross. I know this is the right decision for me but it doesn't make the jacked up relationship that I"ve had with food for my whole life any easier to break up!

Is anyone in Arizona? Having surgery in Phoenix?

My surgeon says that Bariatric Advantage is MANDATORY for my pre-op and post-op diet. I ordered it even though many of the people in this forum say it's gross. I did purchase the Premier Protein already made shakes from Sam's Club. The vanilla isn't bad but the after taste is icky. I'm thinking that all protein has this icky taste so I'm just going to have to suck it up. Anyone else trying different proteins?

My surgery is scheduled for Valentine's Day. I start my pre-op, Clear liquids and Protein shakes diet on February 1st. My surgeon's office says it's mandatory that I purchase Bariatric Advantage Meal Replacements. I've heard they are icky. Besides, how does he know what I have? I'm wondering if your surgeon suggested or required any specific brand. What brand did you use? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My diet will be as follows: 3 Protein Shakes + 1 bar Water Clear fruit juices Gatorade broth sugar free Jell-O Sugar Free Popsicles

Me too! I'm scheduled for Valentine's Day! I thought it was the perfect day for me to fall in love with myself all over again! I start my Clear liquids pre-op diet on Feb 1st. So not looking forward to it but if it means that my insurance is paying...hey, I'm in! I'm in Phoenix and having surgery with Dr. Fang. Awesome name, right? I will be at Bridges Weight Loss Center. Doesn't seem to be many people to connect with there (on here). My best friend had this surgery in August 2010 and has been mega successful. I know I will be too! I'm SOOOOO excited! I'm not sure of my goal weight. I don't even care. I just want to feel good! I'm very tech impatient so I haven't figured out the ticker yet. The site seems very slow while I'm here at work. I'm not allowed to add anything to my protein pre-op shakes. Do you think I can live with the vanilla? I am not a big fan of chocolate.

Hi Everyone. I'm scheduled to have my wls performed on Valentine's Day! I'm super excited. No second guessing here at all. I start my liquid diet next week. Not looking forward to it but I'm trying to stay positive and keep my eye on the prize. I'm hoping to connect with others having surgery at the same place or that live in the vicinity.

Thanks for the tips everyone. My surgeon's office told me that Bariatric Advantage was mandatory, but I'm not sure how they will know what I have. I'm going to GNC tomorrow to check out what samples I can pick up. I've heard that there's a brand at costco that I should really check out. Thanks again and I just realized I have only TEN more days until the liquid diet so I need to get on the ball and figure out what I'm going to do!

Mine is for 13 days. I am very worried about it too. I teach high school and worry about being terrible to my students! I keep thinking that I don't want to do something that will cause me harm. What if I don't follow the diet and something happens during surgery because of what I failed to do? I've failed at my relationship with food. I don't want to screw up my only chance to rectify that. My pre-op diet start on February 1st and my surgery is scheduled for Valentine's Day! My surgeon suggests that I purchase Bariatric Advantage meal replacements and bars for those two weeks. Everything I've heard/read about them says they really bite. Can you all share what protein your surgeon suggested? I would truly appreciate it. I'm trying to test and compare different ones before I commit. Thank you!
