And still have as much restriction as I did 2 years ago I reached normal BMI in 10 months. I'm 5'8" and I've been 145 pounds or under for over 18 months I just cooked a 4 ounce steak and made 2 heaping spoonfuls of cole slaw. Half of both is still on my plate and I can't take another bite Now of course I can wait an hour and graze to finish it but instead I'm saving it for dinner

Ready to wear sizing is very different than pattern sewing I purchase & wear a size 4 garments but I sew a pattern size 12 in most things. You'll need to check the pattern envelope and see where your hip measurements fit

I feel sorry for this person & his family. I'm sure his obesity led to being humiliated in life, now he is also in death. This was the most compassionate article I saw. The local news stations made crass remarks online and on live TV http://m.nbc12.com/nbc12/pm_/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=od:CU6uSMZS

Okay vets - how are you doing on your vitamins/minerals supplements?
vogue replied to CowgirlJane's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
When I slack on probiotics, I get constipated. When I take them regularly, my bowels are happy -
Found a great lemon drink finally!
vogue replied to Patoonces's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Crystal Lite has a stevia version. I use both products. Both have other flavors in stevia version as well -
When I dump, I get overheated then loose bowels. Not always diarrhea. Sometimes just multiple episodes (3 or 4 in an hour) of sudden huge BMs. It's almost always preceded by a drink/meal that was high in sugar.

I get too much sugar and I dump. It's not pretty. I was sleeved 23 months ago

So What's Your Opinion - Isopure or Isopuke?
vogue replied to Dallas_P's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I liked it before & after. I usually add a lil crystal lite lemon or pure lemon and dilute with water over crushed ice. Nice cool drink for hot summer day -
Anyine else having a problem with meat?
vogue replied to 2blessed's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I cannot tolerate any dry meat. Gravy or condiments must be slathered on generously or up it comes within minutes And no matter what meat it is, it must be chewed well preferably starting with a small bite. Skin ( like fried chicken) is tasty but the hardest to digest no matter what. I eat it very sparingly -
I found this out the hard way ( dumping ) last summer.

vogue replied to Elizabeth21's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Social Life - Need Help from Veterans!
vogue replied to Myonlybattle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink socially. I'm usually done after one and I drink it slowly. If I'm served additional drinks or can't finish the one, my husband swoops in to finish it and makes the joke that the older I get , the less liquor I can handle. Win-win ! -
Vets who experienced constipation early on
vogue replied to hayleylamas's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Add probiotics to your daily routine and you'll never have constipation issues again -
Difference in surgeons is like night and day
vogue replied to TonyaNKy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Though it's gotten better , for my first year post - op if I drank liquids too soon after eating, my sleeve imitated a plunger and up everything came. I still, at nearly 2 years out, must wait 20+ minutes and then slow sip. But to each his own -
4 weeks out- watermelon ok?
vogue replied to MayDaisy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No way I'd advocate Kool aid with artificial flavors and colors over real fruit. Watermelon is full of natural sugars that made no one fat. The sleeve will digest it fast regardless. Get your proteins in but don't forego fruit in its natural form. Your bowels will thank you. -
Rash on stomach-pics
vogue replied to Sassypants92201's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a rash.... Came from the blood thinners.... Allergic reaction to lovenox. -
Was in a lil funk this morning, mostly due to not getting proper rest & nutrition this week. Managed to get 8 hours of sleep last night and decided to get up and clean my neglected bedroom. FOUND A PAIR OF "BEFORE" JEANS. I remember sticking them in a drawer last year or so... I thought maybe when I reached goal I'd do the before/after pics. Have sinned reached goal but never got the inclination to do the photo. Anyway, I examined the shapeless jeans with the thigh area worn paper thin... I fought back tears and just kept staring at them. Not sure why I'm feeling sad now because I'm grateful for my sleeve and resulting progress. I'm probably just rambling and not making sense but I felt the need to vent.

Jessie Jackson Jr had duodenal switch not gastric bypass -
The HRM thing got old and distracting for me. I started with the polar ft -90. Great tool but I was too busy focusing on numbers that I no longer enjoyed my workouts. I will say that new Polar v-800 has me looking at HRMs again.

Did you wait a year before your first consult?
vogue replied to TonyaNKy's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I got a consult when I was at the top of normal BMI. it was several months before I actually had surgery and had lost 25-30 additional pounds by that time. You should get a consult (free in most cases) after the bulk of your excess weight is gone (I'd say 75%) but no need to wait til goal or such -
My only frustration is where some folks think Member X is an expert at WLS (or knows more than ) because she got to goal in 7 months yet Member Y took 19 months. So many things to consider, starting with excessive weight loss percentages and not ending with BMI goals. Member X's weightloss goal and journey is unique & personal. Trying to mimic his/her leads to frustration & unneeded stress and could lead to your own failure.

My weight has been stable but my size isn't. I guess due to exercise / weight training. My size 4 pants are loose. I hesitate to say I'm a size 2. I read folks in maintenance will level off and regain 10-15 pounds. How true that is?? I don't know but if it is, when will it?? I'm investing heavily in a new wardrobe and really would hate to end up with a closet full of "One day I'll get back to that size" clothes again

When does regain or leveling off tend to happen?
vogue replied to vogue's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
My problems surely could be worse. Thanks guys.
